Chapter 1: The Birthday
Lunette POV
My name is Lunette Anore and I am 17 years old. Today is my 18th birthday, the day I get my wolf. But no one knows it’s my birthday. Not that it’s special anyways., I’m an orphan from a pack that no longer exists. Now I live as a pack slave to the ones who took my family.
I wish my wolf would come in already.. so I’d have someone to at least talk to.
“Get up, brat. It’s time for work.” The Alpha’s son, Luka said as he kicked my leg.
They’re always so mean to me.
“I’m up, I’m up.” I mutter, dragging myself up only to get knocked right back down.
“Was that attitude? From a lowly omega worh no wolf?” He asked, this time kicking me in the stomach.
I wince from pain, sucking in a deep, shaky breath.
“No, I’m sorry.” I say.
He finally lets me get up, and when I do he smacks the hair dangling in my face.
“ugly creature. Go get busy. Father won’t appreciate your laziness.” He says.
I do exactly as he asks and run to the kitchens, not even having time to put my hair up. Once I’m there, the head omega Judith screeches in my ear.
“YOU’RE LATE!” She screams, her voice hitting notes beyond belief.
I instantly get to working. Sweeping the floors, wiping the counters, doing the dishes. It’s all I ever do since being captured.
But the thing is, no one knows I’m an Alpha’s daughter. Otherwise I’d be killed.
“Omega, the Alpha wants you.” Judith says as she smacks the back of my head.
“Go to him.” A quiet voice says in my head, catching me off guard.
“Are you my wolf?” I ask.
“What are you doing just standing there? Go!” Judith shouts, slapping me once again.
Instantly I’m running through the halls in search of the alphas office.
What does he want? He never asks to see me.
Once I’m at his office I lift my hand to knock.
“Enter.” He says.
I push the door open and ready myself to be hit or worse.. killed.
“There you are. Heard you have Luka trouble this morning. That won’t do. We don’t have time for this. I’ve just got news the Alpha King is joining the alphas meeting tonight. I need you preparing the guest rooms and getting everything done perfectly.”
“Alpha king?” I stammer, but before I can say another word the alpha is in my face.
“You heard me, little dove. Better be on your best behavior or I’ll feed you to him.” He says.
“Y-yes a-alpha.” I choke.
“Thank you.” He steps back and goes back to his desk.
“Now go. Remember. Everything will be perfect.” He says, and I nod.
I leave his office nearly in tears. I hate that everyone is so terrible to me. I’ve done nothing wrong.
Guess this is just my life.
“No. Better things are coming.” I hear the voice again, louder now.
“It is you! Isn’t it?” I ask.
“Yes, it’s me. I’m Enora. It’s nice to finally meet you. Happy birthday.” She says.
Excitements fills me to my very core. Finally.. I’m not alone.
“You’ve never been alone. I was just never able to reach you until now. I’ve always been watching. I’ve always been your friend.” She says.
“Well, what good that did. At least you’re here now, Enora. Nice to meet you too.”
I make it back to the kitchens and gather my supplies. Time to clean the guest rooms and make sure they’re stocked and prepared fully for new arrivals.
Which also means I need to prepare the special guest suite. Since the Alpha king will be coming.
Chills run through my body at the thought. I’d only ever heard of him, how dangerous he is, how mercilessly cruel he is..
Maybe dying at his hands would be easier for me. Since this is my life..
“Don’t say things like that.” Enora growls.
“Sorry. I guess I shouldn’t feel sorry for myself.” I say.
“It’s not that. Our future is bright. I know it. I can feel it.” She says.
Maybe she’s right. Maybe there is more to it.
As I’m walking down the hall in my thoughts, the next thing I know the ground is coming for my face.
BAM.
Right into the concrete.
“Watch it rat.” Amelia, my worst enemy’s high pitched voice rings in my ears. Not now.. not now!
I go to rise when she grabs a handful of my hair.
“I heard you were trying to flirt with my Luka! What an odd thing, you little rat! I thought we had this discussion!” She squeals, pulling me up to my feet.
“I-I didn’t..”
BAM. A sting reaches my cheeks as her hand connects to it.
“Try me again, rat! Just you do it! I dare you!” She squeals, shaking my head and finally letting go of my hair.
Goddess I can’t take it..
She stomps her foot one last time before storming off all angry like someone stole her jewelry.
Also something she’s accused me of before when I had been no where near her room. The little devil she is, I swear it by the moon goddess. That girl is on one.
“Lots of drugs maybe.” Enora growls.
Her little nab struck me, causing me to giggle a little.
“Hardcore ones.” I say back. I pick up my bucket of cleaning supplies and shake my head.
“Maybe we’ll find our mate and he’ll take us away from here.” Enora says.
Maybe she’s right. And Goddess, I hope so.
