Loss of Memory

(Zac's POV) "We didn't have a conversation, I haven't spoken to you in days. And what do you mean by before the accident? What accident?" My eyes widened at her questions. "Rose do you know where you are?" I ask knowing she probably doesn't. "I assume that I am in your apartment right?" She asks totally unaware of her surroundings. "Rose, I don't own an apartment. I live in a gym. You're in a hospital. Do you remember how you got here?" I ask more questions hoping that she remembers something. "No I don't." She says. Her hands start to shake. She starts sweating. "Rose calm down. What is the last thing you remember?" Worry fills my voice as I ask these questions to her. "I-I remember us working out at the gym, and I was upset about something. Then I went for a run, and came back for some reason.... That's all I remember." My heart drops at her words. How could she not remember? "Nurse!" A few seconds, she raced into the room. "Is everything alright, sir?" She asked walking over to her monitor making sure everything is ok. "She can't remember anything that has happened in the past 24 hours. Is that normal?" I ask getting up out of my seat. "Yes, sometimes, depending on the patient. Sometimes the memory will come back, and sometimes it won't. I'll give her some pain meds, and she'll get some rest and hopefully she'll remember in the morning." She says sending me a reassuring smile. I take deep breaths. Calm down. She'll remember everything in the morning. I tell myself this over and over again, but for some reason, I have a gut feeling that she won't remember a thing. ... (Next morning) I walk towards the recovery area. I look for the right curtain. Then I finally find it. "Rose?" I say hesitantly. "Come in." I open the curtain. She's reading a book. "What are you reading?" I ask taking a seat on the bed next to her. "The Chronicles of Narnia." She said as she put the book down. "I know you probably don't want to talk about this, but do you remember anything before you came to the hospital?" I asked nervously rubbing the back of my neck. She looks down and closes her eyes as if she was trying not to cry. She lets out a big sigh. "No I don't. I wish I could, and I tried so hard to remember, but nothing comes back." She looks up at me with tears slowly streaming down her face. I reach out and brush the tears off her face. "It's ok, Rose. You don't have to remember." "So your not mad that I don't remember?" She asked with a hopeful smile on her face. I shake my head no, and hold her hand. "Alright Rose, we are going to move you to another room, and then we'll get you some meds." The nurse walks in checking the monitor. "Do you think you can walk if you used crutches?" She asked grabbing a pair of crutches out of the nearby closet. "Umm... I don't think so. I prefer to ride in the wheel chair." She said looking down at the casts on her legs. I pull out 3 sharpies out of my back pocket. Red, blue, and black. Rose gives me a confused look. "What color?" I asked smiling at her. "Red?" She said in a more confused tone than anything. I give the other two sharpies to the nurse, and start to scribble things down on Rose's cast. I finish the drawing, and Rose's eyes widened as she started at what I drew. "They're boxing gloves!" She exclaimed as the nurse came over and looked as well. "Read what it says below." I say pointing to the words. "Keep fighting even if nobody believes in you." Rose's eyes filled with tears. Just then the nurse started to jump up and down. "Oh my god! You're Lion!" She said a little too loud. Then two other doctors walked in with 3 patients too. The nurse uncapped one of the sharpies, and wrote something on her cast as well. Then the other people in the room started taking pictures, and asking for selfies. Then her doctor walked in. "What is going on here?! Everyone out, NOW!!" He said pointing to the door. The people hung their heads as they walked out. Including the nurse. Me and Rose looked at each other and laughed. "Sorry about that." The doctor said. "We never usually get famous people in here." "It's ok." Me and Rose said in unison. "So, Rose. You don't remember anything 24 hours prior to arriving at the hospital?" The doctor asks scribbling something down on his clipboard. Her eyes dropped. "No, I don't." "That's ok. Your boyfriend here can hopefully explain what happened, and we'll see if anything rings a bell." The doctor smiles. "Oh, I'm not her boyfriend." I say turning red. "Just a concerned friend." "That's a shame. You two would look great together. I'll get one of the nurses to move you to another room." He says walking out. I look at Rose. Her face is as red as mine. "Sorry about that." She says nervously playing with her hands. I grab her hand. "What's there to be sorry about?" I ask and she smiles. The nurse walks in. "Alright, let's get you moved here."
