Thoria
The queen Kitlaena was born to the king and queen of Thoria, she grew up happy and loved in the forests and rolling hills of the kingdom. At fifteen she was promised to the then crowned prince of Catlia, but she found him to be cold and bad tempered. When Kitlaena took the throne she ended her engagement to Emmeric, angering him. King Emmeric swore he if he couldn't have Thoria by marriage he'd take it by force. At twenty-four Kitlaena grew into a beautiful red haired woman with eyes as green as the forests that dominated Thoria. Her best friend Nicholas was a year older than her, standing a foot taller he laughed at Kitlaena's terrible swordsmenship as his medium length black hair blew into his soft blue eyes. The woman training with Kitlaena was Raya, a blonde haired woman with brown eyes, she was not only strong but highly intelligent and affectionate. The two men sparing together nearby were the twins Brythan and Caen, Brythan was an hour older and a few inches taller than his brother but still shorter than Nic. Brythan was creative, but cautious. His big brown eyes always seemed to hide deep thoughts within them, his sandy blond hair was cut short. Caen was a quite and closed off man, but also deeply loyal. What he lacked in height he more than made up for in strength, his green eyes had a toughness about them. He wore his hair longer than his brothers. The five of them had been close since childhood, exploring the forests around the castle and running in the grassy fields. They had forged an unbreakable bond, nothing could come between them. Raya sighed "I think that's enough for today. You my queen have a council meeting, and if I don't separate those two," she motioned towards Brythan and Caen "a real fight will break out." she said. Kitlaena and Nic laughed "When you're right, you're right." Nic said. Kitlaena sighed "Well I'd best get going." she said taking her leave. As Kitlaena walked the long halls of the castle she couldn't help but wonder what hell the council had for her today. She soon approached the doors to the meeting chambers and could already hear heated arguments on the other side, she sighed to herself and pushed the doors open. Upon entering the council stopped fighting and stood to bow and show respect for their queen. Kitlaena acknowledged each of them "Please sit." she said taking her own seat. Her advisor spoke first "We have a serious problem, the general from the front line has sent word, the Catlian army is advancing and our men don't stand a chance." he said looking worried. Kitlaena sighed as the royal general spoke next "If we do not find an edge, something to turn the tide soon we WILL lose this war." he said. Kitlaena raised an eyebrow "What is it you suggest we do?" she asked. The advisor spoke again "That is what we were arguing about when you entered." he said with a deep sigh. Kitlaena listened to each of her council members suggestions before taking a deep breath "We need insight, I believe the only way to get the edge we need is a spying mission. Raya is the best spy we have, myself, Nicholas, and the brothers Brythan and Caen will go with her. We each have skills that will be integral for this mission." she said. Before the council could argue she raised her hand and stood leaving the room. Kitlaena paused in the hallway breathing heavily, her mind raced. She knew she wasn't ready for a mission like this, and though she was almost ten years older there was always the possibility that King Emmeric might recognize her. She hated the idea of putting her friends in danger, but she also knew that if she didn't act that tyrant would take her country and kill her and her friends anyways. With a new resolve Kitlaena set out to find her friends and inform them of their impending mission. She found Nic first the worry in his eyes was obvious when he saw her. His worry only deepened when she refused to tell him anything until they found the others. Nic set out to find the twins, and Kitlaena to find Raya. The five met in the court yard, Kitlaena sighed "It has been determined that if we do not act, and soon, Catlia will win this war. The five of us are set to leave on a mission to spy on them, we leave in a few days time. Say your goodbyes to whom you need and prepare to leave." she said not making eye contact with her friends. The others departed quickly, leaving Kitlaena and Nic standing together. Kitlaena looked up at him, a silent question in her eyes. Nic laughed "You know I have no one other than you and our friends, I have no one to say goodbye to." he said. Everything in him wished to pull her close and hold her in his arms. Nic had been in love with Kitlaena for years now, but never acted upon his feelings no matter how much he wanted to. Maybe one day he'd keep telling himself, when thing are better, peaceful. As he was lost in his thoughts he hadn't noticed Kitlaena moving closer, he was only pulled from his mind when she grabbed his hand "I don't know what I'd do without you Nic, and I don't ever want to find out." she said. Nicholas couldn't hold back at her words, he pulled her into a tight hug that was far too short. He smiled at her as he let her go "You never will, I'll always be here Kit. Always." he said.
