Moving Into His Home

Selina~ Thankfully, Ethan was quick to notice my discomfort; he backed away and signaled me to enter the car. With a silent sigh of relief, I got hold of the opened door and took my position in the passenger seat. Upon confirming that everything was in place, Ethan went to the car behind us and entered as well. I won't lie, it was a great relief that Ethan wouldn't be using the same car as us; otherwise, it would have been a great hassle for me to even breathe, not to mention making some moves. I relaxed my back as soon as the engine zoomed to life, and before I knew it, I dozed off. The next day, I ran my hand over my side, and my palm met with the softness of the mattress's fur feeling. Why does this feel different? The air meeting with my face felt colder, and should I say calmer? My eyes were still closed until I heard the sound of a bird. Wait! I don't stay in the countryside, and it's very uncommon to see birds around my house. My head instantly clicked, and the last drowsiness I felt cleared from my eyes. My lashes batted before my eyes flew open. “Where am I?” I murmured in a tone that came out as a husky whisper. I glanced around the room, but nothing seemed familiar. Coincidentally, the door was pushed open and three maids entered, each holding a tray of women's essentials. “Good morning, ma'am. I hope we didn't disturb your sleep?” They greeted simultaneously, followed by a respectful bow. My mouth hung low; I was too confused to talk. The last memory I have was me dozing off in the car. How did I suddenly get on the bed? Whose room am I in? Where exactly am I? I keep glancing around like a lost puppy. The older woman among the maids dropped her tray on the desk by the window side; she rubbed her hand on the apron that hung around her neck, and then she spoke. “Ma’am, you look confused. Is everything fine?” Her stare was full of complete love and care; my stiff body relaxed under her gaze, and then I cleared my throat to give her an answer to her question. “Actually, I am very confused. Where am I? Who brought me here? Who are you guys?” I questioned without holding back. The woman took a seat beside me and gently placed her hand on my shoulder. “I am Mrs. Reddy, the caretaker of the house, and these people with me are the maids assigned to work for you. You can get to know them and ask for their names. Back to your question, Sir Ethan was the one that carried you inside; you seemed to be enjoying your sleep, and no one had the heart to wake you up, especially with the drool that hung by the side of your lips.” As soon as I heard the last word, my hand instinctively went to my mouth as a pink blush crept its way to my face. Mrs. Reddy noticed how awkward I looked and quickly spoke, “That was just a joke; your face was very pretty, even in your sleep.” I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. At least I didn't appear terrible in my sleep. Mrs. Reddy explained that the mansion was Ethan's favorite mansion, and he was only willing to allow me to use it because I was carrying his seed. I wonder about their level of closeness for him to have discussed our transaction with her. I listened carefully to everything she said and all the rules Ethan told her to pass across to me. The most important one I noted was that I should never, for any reason, enter his study. After understanding what was happening around me, my body relaxed, and I willingly allowed the maid to do everything they wanted to do. I checked through the daily routine that has been scheduled for me. It's a casual, repetitive routine, and I don't think I have any problem with it. At least, the only little change occurs on Wednesdays, and that is the day the doctor will be visiting for my weekly checkup. I noted everything before deciding to take a stroll to the huge dining room for my breakfast. Here is to a totally new life. …. Eight Months Later, I have been doing my daily lifestyle and although it seemed a little boring at first, I later got used to it. I read books in my spare time so it's very enduring. The last scan and the one before it showed that I am carrying a twin. This has made everyone treat me differently… they treated me more fragile than anything else. Ethan drops by only once in a while but recently, he has been very scarce around. Infact, I haven't seen him for almost two months. I have been feeling very uncomfortable for some days back but I didn't inform Ethan because things are still very awkward between us. We got along a little well but he set so much distance and limitation between us so I only relate important information to him. I informed him prior that I would be visiting Dr Tonia and he doesn't seem to have any issue with that. My appointment was today and I already got everything I needed ready. I flung my blue Birkin bag across my shoulder while I tried to adjust my chunky gold bracelet as I walked down the long hallway. Because of my heavy pregnancy, I already added a few more pounds and using some old jewelry is now more difficult, especially the bracelet I was now battling with. I paused to properly force the bracelet in but it slipped from my hand and bounced into the slightly opened room. Without glancing up, I entered the room to pick up the bracelet. I didn't bother to try it on again; I just forced it into a compartment in my bag. I almost turned back when my eyes caught a green book cart by the side of the door. Something clicked in my brain, and I took a second to stare around. Isn't this Ethan's study? This panic made my leg hit the cart, and a pink-colored journal fell off. I picked it off the floor, but before I could admire the beauty of the book, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. I subconsciously threw the book in my bag and ran out of the study, leaving the door ajar just as I met it. I went out of the house and met the driver still waiting for me. Without further delay, I jumped into the car, and off we went…. I arrived a little earlier than my appointment time, so I had to wait in the waiting room. Sitting at a spot for long gradually became boring, and then I decided to rummage through my bag for any snack. I wasn't able to get one, but my eyes caught the pink-colored book I picked up from the library. A part of me wanted me to open it, but the other part was against it. I fought some inner battles before curiosity got the best part of me. I opened the first page of the journal, and written boldly on it was a shocking revelation. My hand shook badly as I tried hard to muffle back my tears. Now, everything sounds reasonable
