Chapter 3

1550 Words
The whole night was a blur as I continuously mixed drinks like a machine, some people tipped me while others strung me along for a conversation I wasn't interested in but had to pretend. A cute laugh here and there. The weather was freezing and my stomach rumbled, I felt his possessive gaze linger over my body. I couldn't tell where he was, among the crowd perhaps. His scent intoxicated me worse than any drug. This Christmas was not going to be ruined by another man, I had to get myself together. Yes, he was my mate. It was natural for me to be attracted to him, for me to crave him to fill me up in ways that made my insides scream. Damn that was not helping, a man slid up to the table, there was something about his aura that did not give off human, neither did it give off werewolf so he was a different kind of monster and I was not in the mood. "Hey pretty?" he said. I forced a smile "Hi, what can I get you?" "Blood." he said so quietly, my whole body turned to ice. Vampire, I didn't have anything wooden at the moment I was in danger. "You are brave coming into an alpha's club." I pretended not to be scared. They were very good at smelling fear and I would be screwed if he did. "What are you gonna do? bite me?" he grinned so wide it showed his fangs and his eyes turned bright red. I stepped back just as Adam came closer as if sensing my discomfort "Is something wrong?" Someone in a dark suit with an aura I couldn't shake walked up to the bar counter and dropped a brown paper bag on it. "Delivery." He said without looking at me, his eyes behind pitch black glasses were fixed on the vampire before him. My sharp hearing caught the sound of a gun pointed at the rib of the vampire. "Leave or die." he said simply and I watched in awe. The club moved on like nothing was happening at the top in the deem VIP room, I felt someone watching through the glass walls. The vampire shrugged, "I'll get you next time, pretty one." "For you." the man in black gestured at the brown paper bag and left before I could ask any questions, and then his presence was gone. Inside the bag lay a hamburger, how did he know I was hungry? I excused myself to the dressing room and ate it without control, is that what they call a mate bond? He can tell what I'm feeling? I bit my lip, is that how he knew I was nervous? A sigh left my lips. I was in over my head, besides it's not like the guy said it was from him. Why would he care about me, wasn't he getting married to Victoria? If I remember clearly, their wedding is on Christmas Eve. The walk back to the apartment was very cold, I couldn't afford transportation back home. It wasn't so far though, just a couple miles. I sighed seeing the latest PlayStation on the big city screen. Danny said he wanted that for Christmas but he knew his dad couldn't afford it. Neither could I, heck I couldn't even afford a ride home. I spotted a small bar and the five dollar tip I earned that day, without any control I started ordering bottles. At my sixth bottle my vision was swimming, I had no way to pay the bill but that was the least of my worries. I was already getting bullied on my first day, it was like life was repeating itself over, and over again. "Hey miss, we are about to close. You need to pay your bill." an annoyed bar tender grumbled trying to wake me up but I was out. My body stirred as I sipped more liquid, I thought it was more booze but it was simply water, then my body felt light. Like it was floating, I opened my eyes, my vision blurry. "Are you Santa Claus?" I asked in a slurred voice. His chuckle rumbled in his chest and my body seeked his warmth "What do you think?" he asked. The snow fell in such beautiful flakes landing on his golden hair "I made a wish, did you pay for my drink?" He nodded and I pouted "Are you a billionaire?" I asked. "Yes I am." he answered. "Are you an alpha?" I asked again, drifting back to sleep. "Well you can say that." he said gently, placing me in the car. I folded on the seat as he buckled my seat belt, then I unbuckled it, crossed over and straddled him in his seat "Why are you playing games with me?" He arched a brow, his dark eyes looking very amused. “Games ? you ran away and married another man before I could find you Regina." "How do you know my name?" I asked in shock. "Are you going to keep pretending that you don't know me? Of course I know your name as much as I know the number of hair on your body regina ." the way he said that and the swell in his pants made me squirm. He held me still "Feel how much I want you, how much I've missed you." "Stop!" I said, trying to get off his lap. "Why are you always running from me Regina?" he said, allowing me to slip off him to the opposite side of the car. "You used to bully me, remember." I snapped then turned to look out the window. He was silent for a bit, I noticed he never raised his voice "We were kids." "You ruined my life." My words were filled with bitterness as tears fell down my cheeks. "I will never accept you as my mate, I will never trust you and I will never love you." I felt his wolf's annoyance yet he was silent, cold as the ice outside, I shivered and he took off his suit jacket and covered me with it. "Hate me if you wish...but I will do everything in my power to make you mine." "Just take me home!" The car stopped abruptly and I screamed. The vampire from earlier stood before the car "Come out alpha Hayden." he said holding the head of a human blood around his mouth and shirt. "Or I'll eat your little friend." he threatened and Hayden was out in a flash. Before I could comprehend what was happening, his fist connected with the vampire's skull and smashed it in. A single punch and the vampire was down, Hayden took a deep breath as cars surrounded us from nowhere men in black hurried to him "Take him to the basement for questioning." He said with a voice of authority. They took the vampire and were gone in a flash, I sat there frozen as Hayden entered the car "Are okay darling?" he reached to touch me and I flinched. "I don't want anything to do with that world anymore, the werewolf world, your criminal underground world. I don't want to know about it." I said sternly avoiding his gaze. "I want you to disappear and never return. Get married and don't look for me." I said without blinking. The silence was very loud as he started the car "Say it to my face then, look into my eyes and tell me to leave Regina and I will." My heart was drumming in my chest so hard, I thought I would pass out. It was no big deal, I had no feelings for him. To me he was a stranger who I had drunken s*x with one time and used to bully me as a kid after he found out I had a crush on him. He was a nobody to me, mate bond or not I had already rejected him it didn't matter. I thought to myself chewing on my cheek "I'm waiting Regina tick tock." he teased confidence oozing off him. So I turned and came face to face with him so close I felt his breath as his lips parted, his dark eyes swallowed me and my brain lost all connection to my heart, leaving me breathless. My mouth hanging open speechless, as his finger circled around my neck. "That's what I thought Regina...you want me so bad you're wet even before I touch you." "It's the mate bond." I growled. "Mate bond bullshit! You want me, and it's so difficult for you to admit it. That's how I am convinced because you have convinced yourself to hate me." he said as his teeth caught my bottom lip. His hand held me in place, my neck in his strong grip as he kissed me, lip after lip, soft gentle kisses I did not expect. Gentle kisses I could not resist like he was melting my frozen insides and breaking my walls. As he released me tears fell from my eyes and he smirked "Mistletoe." he said pointing to it on his car roof. "I hate you!" I snapped at him weakly. His eyes glinted with mischief. "I don't care Regina, you are mine."
