The burger is a lie.
I fuckëd up.
It was stupid! So stupid! I knew better than to get close to any place that had humans! I knew the consequences! I knew what would happen but I just couldn't help it! The smell of hamburgers being made... Ugh, it smelled so good! Better than the scrapes of meat I've been eating from leftover carcasses that littered the forest floor and it had been so long since I had a good juicy burger. I was enticed and I couldn't help it! I thought maybe if I just somehow managed to sneak my way close enough to nab one...
Pain laced through my side from the bullet that grazed it. It spurred me to pump my legs faster as I ran through the forest, my breathing already erratic, my lungs starting to feel like they were on fire.
Of course, it didn't go the way it was supposed to go because anyone with eyes can spot a large black wolf a mile away and who was not going to spot one edging closer to a human camping ground where little kids were playing? I was the dumbass making dumbass decisions and now I was paying for it.
People were terrified, cops were called, and then came the worst of the worst; Hunters. They were kind of like cops but in charge of dealing with the supernatural and I being a werewolf, definitely fall under that category.
My foot slipped on mud sending me staggering forward. The Wolf in my head snarled at me for not paying attention to our surroundings. I managed to catch myself, cursing under my breath as I gain my footing and took off again. I really should've stuck to my wolf form rather than shift back into a human. Then again I thought maybe if I blended in, I wouldn't get caught but Hunters are the best at their job...
I dodged as a bullet whizzed by and embedded itself into a tree, causing loose barks to spray everywhere. My mind was in a state of panic. I didn't know where to go or where I could go! I could hear them shouting behind me as the distance between me and them was getting decreasing and quickly.
Fück fùck fück! What could I do?? Where could I go?! I couldn't run forever, eventually, my stamina will run out, and then.. and then-!!
The sound of more gunfire was enough to snap me out of my panicked thoughts. Even my Wolf began to grow restless from my panic mindset, I heard it growl softly in my head. Pulling on the strength of my wolf to calm my frenzied mind, I kept pushing my already exhausted legs, trying to figure out a way to get out of this situation.
Something ahead caught my nose, a scent drifting in the wind. Animals, water, and... Strawberries?
Either way, I made a beeline to where the scent was drifting from, hoping there be some way to hide. Again, I was cursing about not staying in my wolf form, knowing it would've been better. Pushing past trees of the woods, I finally burst past them, stumbling and rolling into the dirt, becoming too exhausted to even catch myself. I did manage to find enough strength to get back up before crying out in pain as something shot up my calf, my nerves exploding in a feeling of burning and agony causing me to stumble hard into the dirt. A painful wheeze left me as the motion had knocked that air out of me, forcing me to inhale sharply, desperately for air only to suck in clouds of dirt.
I coughed and hacked violently, struggling with all my might to crawl away, my eyes darting around for anything I can use as a weapon now. I rather go down without a fight than roll over and show my belly. Spotting what look like stairs to a house, a crawled my way over as the sound of dogs grew closer, filling my heart with fear.
Just as I reached the bottom of the stairs, ready to push myself up and get up onto the porch, the sound of a gun c*****g above my head was enough to make me freeze and look up just to find myself staring down the barrel of a shotgun.
