Chapter 16 With a pounding headache, Donovan woke and tried to make sense of his surroundings. It took a minute for his vision to clear, and his head felt like someone was continuously hammering it with a brick. Once he could focus, he looked around and noticed he was in a vehicle, but something wasn’t quite right. Everything was upside down. Or he was. Bits and pieces of the accident began to come back to him. Something—a humongous animal, he thought—had attacked their car. He sniffed the air. Dammit! A shifter. He pulled in a deep breath, and his heart beat quickened. Roxy was gone. He could barely scent her at all. With a growl, he reached upward and released his seatbelt.
