The Lockdown

A family of three, having breakfast as one big happy family filled with joy and happiness. Oops not so fast breakfast gone wrong. keeping a secret away from your spouse with your child is very wrong. What come to mind when couple's do that? Josephine setting the dinning table and dishing out breakfast called out to her daughter. Amara come take ur breakfast it's getting cold Amara who is busy laying her bed heard her mom call, she walked down to the door and responded wanna take it with dad together on the dinning table. Dad heard her from his room, he came out and said to her Amara baby, I'll soon join u dear, go start it. Okay daddy replied Amara Amara wraps up with the laying of her bed and then went to the dinning table, few minutes late dad joins Amara at the table. Dad, my tea is too hot said Amara Sorry dear, let me cool it down a little for you dad replied. Josephine joins her family from the kitchen, she looks at them, smile and said hope you guys are enjoying the meal. They both replied with a nod. Mum are we going to school tomorrow? asked Amara No baby, u will go to school soon but not now OK. Okay mum. Josephine goes to the kitchen to pick something. Amara looks at her dad, smile and said I love u dad, u are not like the uncle who comes here when u go to work. He does not eat on the dinning table, he eats with mum in your room. Dad in shock, stops taking the breakfast and sighs. Josephine walks in from the kitchen notice the change in her husband's countenance she asked Honey u ain't eating your food, are u OK? Why the sudden mood swing? Dad pondering over what Amara said to him, sighed and said I'm good dear I just lost appetite. Josephine still filled with shock politely asked should I make something else for u? no babe, I think I'll eat later. He stood up and leaves the table Amara fiiled with shock and out of curiosity asked Mum, why did daddy stop eating? Is he sick? Daddy is fine, he needs to do something inside. Later that evening, Dad was watching TV in the hall. Amara runs to him and joins him in watching TV. Dad can we watch cartoon network plessssse? dad looks at Amara and smile okay my little baby girl, he brings Amara into his arms gave her a kiss on her forehead and started a conversation with her "Amara baby, have you taken your bath already. Yes daddy. Good girl. So tell me, do u know the uncle who comes where any time I go to work? Yes daddy, one day he left something on the table so I took it and use it to play, it's in my school bag. Go and bring it." Amara, left for her room leaving dad in a wondring state. Dad thinking of who said uncle is and what he could have left behind, boom Amara appeared with the said uncle's voter's card. "This is it dad. Good girl, is that the only thing he left here? Yes dad" Josephine walks in from the bedroom, looks at her husband and daughter and said Daddy and daughter, what are u guys discussing. Dad quickly replied, we are discussing about the cartoon we just watched Josephine Smiles and asked Tilly to come for her medicine. ***************** Dad woke up from bed but didn't give wife the usual good morning peck on her forehead. Josephine suprised takes it like he forgot and then asked honey, my good morning kiss. Dad stares at her for a while and walks away to the bathroom in silence. Josephine follows after hm Honey are you okay? I'm fine! Dad replied. Josephine went to the kitchen to prepares and serve breakfast but Dad refused to eat. Amara suprised that dad didn't come out for breakfast said to her mum it's like daddy is sick, call the doctor. Josephine Smiles, dad is fine my dear don't worry. Dad hears Amara voice and calls out Amara baby! Amara baby!! Yes daddyyyy How are you I'm fine daddy but I know you are sick. You are not happy, I told mum to call the doctor for you ok Dad comes out of his room gave his daughter a smile, picks her up and taps her at the back, saying I'm fine my dear. I don't need a doctor OK. Okay daddy then smile for me dad smiles. Josephine comes out if the kitchen gets closer and joins the conversation. Amara, how come you and dad are both smiling, what are you talking about Josephine said. Dad quickly responded we are talking about my health. Josephine smile and said that's fine. Hmmmm that reminds me, honey we need to talk. About what? I think we should go inside. Alright then. Dad tells Amara to go watch TV in the hall. Josephine and Dad went into their room begins conversation Josephine started with a soft tone "Honey, I've realised you have been behaving weird since yesterday after you abandoned my food on the dining table. What's the problem? Have I done anything wrong? Dad responded hmmmm, I'm sorry dear. It's just about the lockdown and how I've been idle doing nothing. It's getting me boring. Is that enough reason to abandon my food? Honey the lock down is affecting us all but you shouldn't make me feel I caused it by abandoning my food and acting weird towards me. At the other end of the phone I miss u dear pls do call me when you are done with whatever you doing kk. Okay she responded and ends the call. Dad looking in a curious and suspicious way asked who is that? My Colleague from work she responded. Alright dad said and continues with the matter at hand So as I was saying, I'm sorry for everything OK. OK dear. You still owe me that peck Josephine said. Dad smiles and pecks her on the forehead as he whisper I love you to his wife. Later in day, Dad in the hall watching TV, Josephine in the kitchen, her phone on charge in the hall then a text came in. It reads "hello baby, I know he was around that's why you couldn't speak to me, I'm sure he has always been around you that's why we can't talk, but I still think about you all night. Our last meeting was a blast. How I wish this pandemic is over so you ride me again like a polo horse. Amara goes to the kitchen to meet her mom, mom how can I be of assistance to you? Josephine smile Oh good girl you help me cut the vegetables by the way where is dad? He is watching TV in the hall. Go get me my phone dear, it's on charge in the hall. Amara brought the phone and mum saw the text she smile but didn't reply The whole family have their meal together in peace and silence like they were to be jailed if they disobey the table manner. After meal Amara clears up the plates, with no one still saying a word Amara goes into the kitchen, dad broke the silence saying honey, have I done anything wrong that you didn't tell me? No honey. Are you sure? I wanna apologize if I have Come on honey, you have done nothing against me, what I wasn't happy about, we resolved that in the morning. I'm cool now. Okay babe. But don't forget I love you. I love you too. Josephine left for her room while dad went out to the bacony to grab some fresh air. Josephine in the room calls back the number that texted her. Amara going to meet her mom in the room got to the door hears her conversation over the phone, she hears some strange words out of curiosity to find out the meaning she goes out to ask the meaning. She looks for her dad and found him at the bacony Dad what is the meaning of banging, and I lost my period? She asked. Dad shocked, where did u hear those words? Mum was telling someone on her phone so I want to know the meaning. Dad shocked and wondering said to her they mean nothing my dear, they are words u will understand when u grow okay?
