Episode 1
Casimir lay in his bed trying to focus on the music playing in his earbuds, but the fact was he was a bit distracted. You see the really hot quarterback at school had acknowledged his existence, and this sent a chill through his whole being. Looking down he noticed the growing bulge in his pants just thinking about it. However, now was not the time to deal with such a thing, now was time to play World of Wizards on the computer and try to win the tournament which was happening.
Casimir moved from his bed to the computer and began playing his game, he was oblivious that anything was wrong, and that any one was near him. Gina Yost, his mother, was downstairs cooking dinner, and his father was not home yet. Suddenly there was a lot of yelling and screaming, Casimir slowly moved to the door. Looking through the c***k he made there was a man with black clothes on and a gun. Casimir quickly ran to his closet which opened into the attic. Climbing as fast as he could, he closed the door and pulled a trunk over it. He was about to call for help when it dawned on him, he had left his cell phone on the bed. Now one of the men was in his room.
“He has to be here someplace.”
“Well, he clearly is not.”
“Fine, kill the mom and we will move on.”
Casimir’s heart sank. Were they serious? Were they going to kill his mother? This was a dream, it all had to be a dream. Slowly moving the boxes he used to cover the trap door from the attic to the closet he lowered the ladder and came down putting his hands up he walked into the living room where his mother sat tied and gagged in a chair.
“Well looky, he was here, he is smart, just like they had told us he was.”
“Okay, I am surrendering, now let my mother go.”
The four men laughed a hardy belly roll laugh at the boy making demands. Clearly, he did not understand the severity of their situation. They were in charge, and he was not going to be bossing them around. The lead perpetrator walked forward a step and sort of leaned down level with Casimir, he was short for his age, something else which lends itself to him being bullied. The man laughed.
“You don’t get to make demands kid. Our orders were to kill everyone but you, so you are sort of lucky the two of you were the only ones home. Now look away, this might scar you forever.”
Casimir’s eyes widened as the man next to his mother placed a gun to her head. He was about to pull the trigger when Casimir screamed no. Suddenly there was a surge of white light which erupted from Casimir as he lifted off the ground. It threw everyone backward against the wall. In a voice that could only be described as thunder, Casimir spoke.
“You are not going to hurt my mother you son of a b***h!”
Casimir felt a fire inside his bones he could not explain. Something was inside him awakening and he could feel it, and it felt good. Casimir’s eyes began to glow white as wings sprouted from his back. His skin began to grow paler and more opalescent. His body mass shifted to being much more built and muscular. His hair lengthened and turned a lighter shade of brown. The apparent leader of the invaders of their home stepped forward.
“Damnit, his powers are awaking, we are going to have to hurry before he goes full power!”
The men raised their weapons and fired, but the bullets hit a barrier and fell to the ground. Casimir raised his hand and a huge orb of energy formed in his hand. His eyes blazing with holy power.
“Divine! Smite!”
The huge blast of energy struck the frontman in the chest and vaporized him. Now in his full angelic form, he drew from an astral real within the Tower of Angels a Soul Blade.
“You three can surrender now, or you can end up much worse than your commander here.”
The three other men ran for their lives dropping their weapons as they went. Casimir untied his mother and then fell to the floor silent. His body returned to normal, and he lay motionless and totally nude on the ground. He was breathing heavily and covered with sweat. Gina Yost picked up the phone and dialed a number.
“He just awakened. They sent an assassin team and he took out one of their group, the others fled but there will be more.”
“You know you need to get him out of there.”
“Yes, I am going to safe house gg6.”
“Very good, good luck.”
She hung up with Casimir’s father and she quickly grabbed a gone from under the desk and loaded it with a special clip. Inside the clip were special bullets designed to especially kill Inhumans. That is what they were up against now. Casimir was a child of legend and born baring a sacred angelic soul. His parents died at birth protecting him. The council assigned his new parents to watch and protect him, and to keep him from awakening for as long as they could. Now however that was not an option. She threw a bucket of water on her adopted son.
“Get up we need to move fast.”
“Mom, what's going on?”
“I will explain once we get on the road, but it's not safe here, we gotta go.”
Casimir threw on some clothes and soon they were heading behind the house heading into the woods. Casimir was amazed at how well he could see even in the darkness. And it seemed like his mother was also having no trouble seeing. What was going on? As they came to a small clearing with a house in it, they could hear dogs in the distance. An older woman with long dreadlocks pulled back in a ponytail held a shotgun. She looked down at Gina and Casimir.
“Were you followed?”
“No, but they have trackers.”
“That’s fine, they won’t remotely be able to break the protections on this place. Get in here where it is safe. Come on boy, let me have a look at you.”
Casimir complied, he was taught to obey his elders, and this woman looked to be in her early sixties. Little did he know that Abigail was several hundred years old, and had been doing this sort of work for a long time. Helping newly awakened Inhumans find their path. It tended to keep them from blowing themselves or others up. Abigail blew cigar smoke in the boy's face.
“He is pretty scrawny, isn’t he. We are going to have to work hard to get him ready. We already have our hands full if they are sending assassins and hunters. So we should go to the portal and get him out of here.”
“I agree, but they are between us and the portal.”
“Yes, so we are going to have to fight a little to get there. Come now Gina, I have never known you to back out of a fight, unless, have you fallen for the boy and feel motherly towards him?”
A tear down Gina’s cheek betrayed the truth. She thought of Casimir as her son. She had loved him immediately. It was not his fault he was born who he was, and it also was not his fault that his real parents died under similar circumstances to the ones here. Gina gave Abigail a stone-cold look.
“Mom what is she talking about?”
Gina knelt before her son who was looking from this older woman to his mom confused and worried and freaked out by everything which was going on. But what his mother said next really took the cake.
“Honey, what I am about to tell you will be hard to accept and understand. You will be mad at me and your father, and you might be mad at everyone in your family, because, I am not your mother, and your dad is not your dad, well at least not biologically. As for Abigail’s statement, I was never supposed to get attached to you. I was supposed to guard you and keep you safe and train you in the ways of Divine magic. Along the way, I and your father decided to not raise you as a warrior, but as a normal boy, and as our son. I am so sorry we did not tell you sooner, and I am so sorry these evil people are after you now.”
Casimir’s jaw dropped. His mother, or adopted mom, had just dropped a huge bomb on him, bigger even than being hunted by men with guns. His parents and older brother were not his true family, and they were never meant to actually be a family together. They chose to, and now they were in danger. So for as angry as Casimir was, he also saw they chose to love him over fulfilling a duty that would have left him unsupported emotionally.
