Aria's POV.
It had been days since the game.
Days since Kael Arden said those words that kept burning inside my head...You were never his.
I hadn’t spoken to Cassian much since then. Every time he tried to talk to me, I made up excuses...“I’m tired,” “I need to rest,” “Headache.” It was easier to hide in my room than face him and pretend everything was fine.
The Blackwoods didn’t notice anything strange. Mrs. Blackwood still called me “dear,” Mr. Blackwood still smiled at me at breakfast. Maddie kept tossing me scarves and wigs to “make my hair look soft again,” and Jordan dragged me to the mall or the kitchen like I was part of their family. Everyone in the pack still called me Luna.
They saw what they wanted to see.
But inside me, everything was a mess.
