My knees were trembling as I followed Mrs. Lin down the stairs. I don't know what I was expected, a bunch of decrypted old men in robes that were pulled over their heads, I guess. However, what I found was a group of elderly people, men and women, sitting around on the couches, chatting and munching on finger sandwiches with what looked like tea or coffee in nice china cups. Mrs. Lin brought me over to them, her head bowed. "Elders, this is our Alpha, Charolette DeMarie, but she is addressed as Alpha Charlie," she greeted them, keeping her head bowed with her hands clasped in front of herself.
