Episode 1 — The Room Next Door
The snow began falling just as Elena arrived at the Grand Aurelia Hotel.
She stepped out of the taxi and stared up at the enormous building.
The hotel looked like something from another century—tall stone walls, glowing golden windows, black iron balconies, and a massive clock above the entrance.
Beautiful.
But strangely cold.
Elena pulled her coat tighter around herself and dragged her suitcase through the snow.
She had come here for one reason.
A fresh start.
She didn’t want memories.
She didn’t want questions.
And most importantly, she didn’t want anyone from her past finding her.
The moment she entered the lobby, warm air surrounded her.
A chandelier hung above her, sparkling against the marble floor. Soft piano music played somewhere in the distance.
A woman at the reception desk smiled.
“Welcome to the Grand Aurelia.”
“Thank you.”
“Name?”
“Elena.”
The receptionist typed something into the computer.
Then she looked up.
“Ah. Miss Elena?”
“Yes.”
“Room 406.”
She handed Elena a golden key card.
Elena smiled politely.
“Thank you.”
As she turned away, the receptionist suddenly called after her.
“Miss Elena?”
Elena turned.
The woman’s expression had changed.
“Whatever you do…”
She hesitated.
“…don’t go into Room 407.”
Elena frowned.
“Why?”
The receptionist forced a smile.
“It’s just hotel policy.”
Elena glanced down the hallway.
Room 406.
Room 407.
They were right beside each other.
“Okay,” she said slowly.
Then she walked away.
⸻
11:48 P.M.
Elena had unpacked most of her things.
She sat beside the window with a cup of tea, watching snow cover the streets below.
For the first time in months, she felt peaceful.
No phone calls.
No arguments.
No memories.
Just silence.
She smiled.
Maybe this was exactly what she needed.
She turned off the lamp and climbed into bed.
Minutes passed.
Then—
Footsteps.
Elena opened her eyes.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Someone was walking in the hallway.
She sat up.
The footsteps stopped.
She waited.
Nothing.
She sighed and lay back down.
Then she heard it again.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
This time, the footsteps were coming from directly beside her room.
Room 407.
Elena slowly got out of bed.
She opened her door.
The hallway was empty.
She looked toward Room 407.
The door was completely dark.
And locked.
Elena stared at it.
Then suddenly—
Knock.
She froze.
The sound had come from inside Room 407.
Her heart began pounding.
“Hello?”
Silence.
She took one step toward the door.
Another.
Then she heard a man’s voice.
Very quietly.
“Elena…”
Her blood ran cold.
Nobody here knew her name.
She stepped backward.
“Who are you?”
No answer.
Then—
“Go back to your room.”
Elena ran.
She slammed her door shut and locked it.
Her breathing became heavy.
She grabbed her phone.
Should she call reception?
Before she could—
Knock. Knock.
Someone was standing outside her door.
Elena stared at the handle.
It slowly moved downward.
Her hand covered her mouth.
Then the handle stopped.
A piece of paper slid underneath the door.
Elena waited several seconds before approaching it.
She picked it up.
There were only five words written on it.
“Stop asking about Room 407.”
Elena stared at the message.
Then she noticed something.
The handwriting looked familiar.
Very familiar.
She turned the paper over.
On the back was a date.
Three years ago.
And beneath it was a name.
ADRIAN VALE.
Elena’s heart stopped.
Because she had heard that name before.
And the last person who had ever mentioned Adrian Vale to her…
was someone who had been missing for three years.
