Chapter1: In Which Tassa Met Nia'le
Tassa was a blind woman who's about 18 years old, and she was hurrying to get out in the hospital. She was wearing a nurse's uniform, and her hair tied up in a bun, which made her look so neat and presentable. She was slowly making her way out, and yet she succeeded in getting out. A lot of people were running back to the hospital and some people were talking about something that she couldn't understand. She could not understand what's happening outside, but she clenched her fist and she still went outside. She was trembling but she didn't have a choice. Her goal is to get out, and she didn't want to go back to the hospital where she came from. A lot of people were gathering around, and she was slowly making her way out, but unfortunately a criminal saw her, slowly walking away to the crowd. The criminal looked at her up and down, and he had noticed that she was wearing a nurse uniform. He was thinking that he can use her to aid him. That's why he walked in front of the people while pointing out his gun at them. All the people who's gathering around them made a way for him. And he grabbed her and held her, and used her as his hostage. Tassa didn't move, she just stood still and said, "Don't do it. Not in front of everyone." The criminal was just looking at her and he pointed his gun and asked her who she was talking to. Tassa just balefully smiled at him, and she replied. "Can't tell. Because my mother taught me not to talk to stanger."
"Can you talk to my gun?" He asked.
"No, can you?" She replied.
Nia'le balefully looked at her, but he didn't do anything but just gave her a cold gaze. And at that exact moment, the police had came and told him to put both of his hands up in the air and just surrender properly. But Nia'le just smirked, and point his gun at them. "Listen, ya'll. If you don't stand back, I will gonna kill this nurse. And I'm not even kidding." A Grim Reaper suddenly appeared in front of them, and it looked at a man who dressed up as a police officer. "I'll take care of him. And I'll take care of her." It said.
The man just looked at it, and he didn't reply to it. He looked at Tassa's face and he turned his back and he raised his hand up in the air. Tassa saw him, and he call out his name, and told him to looked at her. He begged him to face her. The Grim Reaper told her that it's not him, but she didn't listen. She kept on calling him, and she was sure that the officer that was in front of her was Xart. "His pose, his hair, his skin, his smell, I know about it. Top view, side view, back view, I know everything about him, and Ayamani that guy, it's him. It's my Xart. I know that it's him." Tassa said. Ayamani; the Grim Reaper who she was talking to, didn't replied because it knew that Tassa knew everything about Xart, and so does Xart to her. But he still denied that it was him. The criminal got angry at her because she kept calling the officer who had raised his hand. He told her to shut up. However, Tassa just glared at him and told him to shut up instead of complaining
Xart touched his cap down and he told everyone to let them go. But the other one opposed him; that's why Xart hypnotized him, and said. "She's a civilian and mostly, I will not let anyone hurt her. Especially when it's just a nuisance guy who opposes me. I'll gonna take her back, safe and sound, and I'll gonna make that criminal pay." The officer that he hypnotized lost his consciousness and fell on the ground. But Xart didn't picked him up, he just stepped on it and walked away. He didn't looked back at Tassa, when they escaped and let Ayamani take care of her. "Wait for me, Quart. I'll gonna save you my love, and we will be together again, I promise." Xart said.
Nia'le and Tassa went to the woods, behind the hospital, and they escaped to all the officers that Xart hypnotized. Xart let them escaped and told Ayamani to kill Nia'le and retrieve Tassa from him.
Nia'le was holding Tassa's wrist while his other hand was holding on his severe wound on his shoulder. He held her close and covered her mouth and see if they're still some officers that followed them. He leaned on the tree and looked behind them. He was panting and Tassa doesn't like his warm breath on her neck, that's why she kept on resisting. "They're probably not following us anymore." Said Nia'le. Tassa rolled her eyes at him, and she take his hand off her mouth and she replied. "No they're not, now let me go!" Nia'le let her go, and he pushed her in front of him, where he can see her. Tassa stood straight and she was about to slowly walked away but she accidentally tripped on a big root, and accidentally made a noise. Nia'le looked back and see if someone was coming to get them, but there's none. Tassa didn't move and she just looked at her knee, she felt like she had a new wound because of that. "No one is coming." Tassa said, while simply healing her wound on her knee without Nia'le noticing it. "How do you know?" Nia'le asked.
"We are not that far from the hospital, and I saw, my Xart."
"What was that suppose to do, to our circumstances here?"
"Xart can easily track us down. He's a wizard."
"Wizard doesn't exist but demon does, bitch."
"Yes it did. He can easily teleport himself and take me away from you—, but he didn't. He probably doesn't like me. He neglected me. That's why—"
Nia'le walked away and he didn't listen to her. "You can go wherever you want afterwards, but can you come with me and aid me for a while?" Nia'le said.
Tassa looked at him even though she couldn't see him. She stood up and she agreed to heal all of his wounds. She slowly walked towards him, and almost got tripped on the big root again, but Nia'le caught her before she fell. He was holding her arms, and got destructed because of her beautiful face. He was looking at her for a couple of seconds and he didn't move a muscle. "You can let me go now." Said Tassa. Nia'le noticed his hands were still holding her arms; that's why he let her go and he turned his back at her, and he tried to looked away. "Seriously? in time like this, can't you see how big the stupid root on the ground!" Nia'le said. He looked back at her, and he saw her looking far from him. He got annoyed at her because of ignoring him. He faced her and told her that he was talking to her. Tassa looked at her left, and it pissed Nia'le, and told her that he's on her right. Tassa folded her arms and she snorted at him, "How despicable you are! Of course I can't see you, I'm blind haven't you notice?"
"Can't tell, by looking."
"Are you deaf? I told you I can't see."
Nia'le just glared at her, and he already hated her because of her unthinkable attitude. He held her at her wrist and dragged her to him. Tassa complained and told him to be gentle. But Nia'le didn't listen to her and he hurried up, and went back to his home.
They both walked 4,244 miles away from the hospital, but Nia'le didn't noticed that. And it was because of the magic that was covering the whole area, the minute they walked inside of it, the minute they got teleported inside the place. Tassa felt the magic on her skin and asked Nia'le if he knew anything about it. But Nia'le told her that he didn't know anything about her obsession about wizard and magic, and just hurriedly dragged her inside of a big abandoned mansion.
"I haven't been here for almost a year, but I bet that our medicines are still ok."
He looked at the cabinet and read the label of every medicines he have. He looked at the expiration date to see if he can still use them. And he took all the things that he'll be needing, and placed it on the center table in the living room. Nia'le sat on the old couch and asked Tassa to heal him, just like what they talked about. But Tassa just sarcastically laughed at him, raising her hand placing almost on her mouth, while looking at him from the corner of her eyes. "Huhuhhu" she laughed. "What made you think that I can help you?" Tassa asked.
Nia'le annoyingly looked at her and he replied. "You're a nurse. Of course you can help me. That is the main reason why I take you as my hostage in the first plac—, no ship! Don't tell me—"
"I'm not a Nurse" Tassa said.
She stood up straight, looking at her left, and said. "I am just wearing this uniform because I wanted to get out from that hideous bastille."
"I'm on your right b***h!" Nia'le said.
She looked at her right, and accidentally
overlooked him. Nia'le didn't complain and he just rolled his eyes at her.
"Well, I am on my way to escape the hospital wearing a disguise, until you showed up! And made me your hostage!"
"Yeah! One of the biggest mistakes that I regret since I found out that you aren't a nurse. Believe me!"
Tassa took deep breath, and she started to walked towards him. Nia'le confusedly looked at her and asked her what was she's doing. But Tassa didn't reply, she slowly sat on the floor, and she takes Nia'le hand, and locate his wound. But Nia'le took his hand back and asked her again, what was she doing. Tassa gently sucked her lower lip, and she replied "I'm doing what exactly you wanted me to do, aid you."
Nia'le doubted her and told her that she was blind, and asked her how was she able to find all of his wounds. Tassa just gently smiled at him, and she pressed his wound on his lower arm that made him scream, because of the pain. Tassa smiled again at him and said, "That's how. Now I know where your wound is." Nia'le took his arms from her, and he gave her a cold gaze.
"No ship Sherlock! I have 7 wounds in my body, don't tell me you're going to press it all to find out where it's all located?" Tassa took a deep breath before she replied, and she said, "I may be blind, but at least I am not stupid as you are. Just tell me where your wound is. And I'm gonna heal it for you, you dumbhead."
Tassa held his arms and she healed all his wounds using a healing spell. Nia'le saw her power that was making an unknown feelings and sight in front of him. He was silently staring at her, and observing her while using her magic. His wounds were all healed up, and all the tissue and all of his blood lost from his wound had been replenished. He couldn't deny how impressed he was, while watching her doing the work. And he even asked himself on how can she make magic. He remembered his father was using one, and so does his mother, and that made him doubt about her personality. He asked her, how can she make magic?
Tassa was bewildered because of his question, and she looked at him with a shocked on her face. Her magic weren't supposed to be seen by any human, but she was surprised that Nia'le can see her magic. Tassa folded her arms and she asked him a question instead of answering Nia'le's first question. "You said you can't feel the magic that was covering this place. But it looks like you had seen my healing spell. Normal human cannot supposed to see it. But how can you see it? What are you, exactly?" Nia'le was looking at his healed arms, and he replied. "I gave you one question, and you gave me 2 irrelevant questions."
"Someone taught me, now you. How can you see it?"
Nia'le crossed his legged in front of Tassa, and he replied. "You are not gonna believe it, but my Father and Mother can do the same thing. They had powers, and also had a friend who had the same ability."
"So you mean that they're wizards."
"Demon. Like I said, there are no wizard in this world, but just demon. For me, they were nothing but just a demon."
Tassa didn't say a word, she didn't even oppose him to what he said. She just let him say the things that he wanted to say and gave him liberty to believe in the things that he wanted to believe.
"So" Nia'le moved his head on his left side. "Who had taught you to you use magic?" Nia'le asked.
Tassa halted for a couple of seconds. A melancholy was covering her whole body and emotion. She heftily looked down, and she gloomily replied. "Someone taught me everything I know." Tassa said.
Nia'le noticed her sadness as she replied. "He's the first ever, person that I love. Who's also the first ever person who hurt me so badly. He's—"
Nia'le didn't let her finish, he placed his elbow on his knee, and he leaned to it as he placed his finger on her lips. "Shhh!—" Tassa looked at him.
"I just ask you who taught you to do this, you don't really need to tell me your whole story, back from the day you were born, ya know." Nia'le said.
Tassa glared at him, and she removed his finger on her lips. "Don't ask if you don't want to know." Tassa said.
"You see, we had 4 maxims of communication that we use." Nia'le said. "First, maxim of manner, where you need to be clear." Nia'le was counting on his finger as he explain it to her. "Second, maxim of quality, maxim of quantity. And last maxim of relevant or relation. This is when you need to be relevant to the conversation you're having." Nia'le said. Tassa just bitterly smiled at him, and she replied. "I'm sorry, mister Oral Communication, Sir." She sat next to Nia'le, and she placed her hands on her knee looking as pleasent as she can. Nia'le jolted and felt uncomfortable when she sat next to him. He moved a little to his left and kept his distance to her. Tassa sweetly moved her head on her left to face Nia'le, and she asked him. "So,...where did you get all your wound, sir?" Nia'le paused for a couple of seconds, before he replied. "The cops suddenly saw me and—" Tassa stood up and she put her finger on his lips. "Shhh! I just ask you where, not how." Nia'le glowered at her, but she just send him a sarcastically smile. "You don't really need to tell me the whole story, back from the day you were born, ya know!" Said Tassa.
Nia'le took her finger off his face, looking so pissed-off her. He stood up, and started to walked up stairs. "Wait you're not gonna leave me here alone, are you?" Asked Tassa.
Nia'le halted and he replied. "Well, you're not planning to stay here, are you? You insignificant girl." Nia'le murmured.
"Insigni—" Tassa threw a fit and contradicted him, she stood up and got mad at him. "Insignificant after I heal you, you call me insignificant! Well you are the one who is trivial here. You can't even take care of your own wound, you frivolous guy!" Tassa protested.
Nia'le rolled his eyes at her, and just watched her getting angry at the side table, where he was standing near. But Tassa is still, overlooked at him again. "Now you're acting like a real b***h, in the most annoying way"
"Really!" Tassa retorted, her voice laced with sarcasm.
"Yeah, really," Nia'le said, his tone unyielding. "Anyway, you can go wherever you want now."
"Go where?" Tassa asked, her voice tinged with a mixture of defiance and curiosity.
"Go back to whatever rock you crawled out from," Nia'le sneered. "Just leave me alone."
Tassa's expression faltered for a moment, her eyes clouding over with concern. "But I'm blind, and it's already 7 pm. How am I supposed to get out in the forest?"
Nia'le's laughter was cold and mirthless. "Does it matter if it's day or night for a blind person? No, because you can't see!" His words cut through the air like a knife.
Tassa's face hardened, her voice rising in anger. "Now you are acting like a dumbass, in the most annoying way."
Nia'le's anger boiled over as he strode down the stairs, his footsteps echoing through the room. He stopped in front of Tassa, his eyes blazing with fury. "There's only one thing that triggers me, and that could be your whole existence," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "Now I'm gonna say it again, leave or I'll kill you?" Tassa was a strong minded person who's not afraid of anything, even if it means death. Because she believed that death can set her free, in the "Infinite Night" that she's into. Her voice was steady as she uttered, "Try me."
Nia'le smirked, a cruel glint flashing in his eyes. He reached for his gun, the metallic click of the safety disengaging echoing ominously in the still night. Tassa didn't flinch. She didn't move an inch from where she stood, her gaze fixed on him with a calm that bordered on defiance. There was no trace of fear in her face—no trembling hands or faltering steps.
Nia'le raised the gun slowly, leveling it at her head. His voice was low and mocking as he asked, "Want to back out now, woman?" Instead of retreating, Tassa took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Her voice cut through the tension like a blade. "Try it. Can you?" For a moment, Nia'le hesitated, his smirk widening into something darker—a challenge accepted. "You want to bet on it?" he asked, his tone laced with amusement. Tassa nodded without hesitation. "It won't work," she said simply, her confidence unshaken. But Nia'le wasn't one to listen to warnings. He raised the gun higher and pulled the trigger. The crack of the shot shattered the silence, but instead of hitting Tassa, he shifted his aim at the last moment and fired at the vase sitting beside her. The ceramic exploded into shards that rained down on the ground like fragile remnants of a broken moment.
Tassa was so shocked because she knew that Ayamani haven't done anything. So it means that Nia'le didn't really aim for her. Tassa asked him why wouldn't he kill her. "You have the chance while he's not moving, why didn't you do it!" Angrily asked by Tassa. Nia'le just bitterly laughed at her, knowing that she's just a suicidal person who wanted to escape to a bitter world. He left her without saying a word and he continued to walked upstairs. But Tassa didn't shut her mouth and still asked him why. She used a spell to stopped Nia'le from taking another stepped and she asked him again. Nia'le faced her and he replied. "I know that there's something beside you. And this thing is protecting you, alright. But yes, I didn't shot you, not because I'm afraid of him or anything." Nia'le halted and he started to breath heftily. In his mind he remembered a girl that's with him. His hands were covered in blood, and he saw himself killing about 40 plus people just to save her, and himself. But they got separated after a year, and he never had a chance to see her again. "I'm not a criminal. I can't kill anyone. Not an innocent one. Not even a suicidal person" Nia'le saith. Tassa realised that he's telling the truth and she also felt the weigh of his feeling in the room. She deactivated her spell, and she didn't ask him again about the things that she wanted to know. She slowly walked to the door, and decided to leave the place. But Nia'le stopped her, and told her to prepare food instead of finding new home. Tassa stopped and she looked at him, but Nia'le didn't gave her a chance to say anything. He talked to Ayamani and told him to help her cook for their dinner, guide her or do anything he can to make it easier for her to cook. He continued to walked upstairs and he told them that there still some food in the fridge, and it still edible to eat, because it was made of magic. "Wait, where are you going? Aren't going to help us?" Tassa asked. But Nia'le pretended that he didn't hear her, and he just left her downstairs. "How can he see you, Ayamani." Tassa asked.
"I don't care why he can see me, I care about how he ordered me to help you cook for his dinner." Ayamani said. Tassa just laughed at him as he complained.
