Chapter 16

1970 Words
As Sam walked into the house, he saw Clarissa heading into the kitchen.  She turned to him and started to speak but he just turned his head and walked away.  Clarissa rolled her eyes and continued into the kitchen.  On the outside she portrayed indifference to him but inside she was falling apart.  It killed her that her brother was not talking to her.  It had been months since they hung out together.  She missed riding on the extreme motorcycle with him.  Screaming in joy as he raced down the road.  She also missed playing video games with him and giving her victory dance whenever she won.  She knew he would let her win on purpose and she loved that he put her pride before his.  At first she was angry and blamed him for stealing Willa away, then she blamed Willa for putting this wedge between her and her brother.  Finally when she realized that he wanted no parts of her, that she had to blame herself.  She even went to Alpha Michael and begged him to allow Sam to go speak to Willa to make things right.  She thought for sure everything would work out.  She knew how much Willa liked Sam but she did not realize how much Sam like Willa.  She remembered the day when she told him to go see Willa and work it out. Sam you should go see her.  she stated after going almost a month of not speaking to him and watching him mope around the house.  " Alpha had forbidden it." said Sam with a snarl.  Clarissa jumped back a little.  " No its okay Sam. I spoke to Michael, he just did not want you to chase her down that day.  He wanted to give things time to calm down and everyone a chance to cool off."  "You mean you a chance to cool off!  No one was upset until you put on your show!" he yelled.  Clarissa exhaled.  She was not trying to start a fight.  She just wanted her brother back.  " I am sure if you go to her house and speak to her in person, explain everything then it will work out.  Hell, you can tell her that I forgive her and will not cause any more problems between you if that is what it will take." she stated magnanimously.   Sam just looked at her and burst out laughing.  It was not a laugh of joy but of frustration.  " How novel of you dear sister. Even if Willa decided to see me again, I highly doubt she will come back to the pack house.  I know you are not going to her house.  Have you even tried to get in touch with her?"  he asked.  Clarissa shook her head.  "No, Sidney said that Willa's family forbade her to deal with me."   Sam rolled his eyes and started to walk away.  Clarissa grabbed his arm to stop him. "But that does not mean you can't try!" she cried.  She watched as Sam frowned.  It look like he was having a conversation with his wolf Simba.  Finally he exhaled. " Ok, if Alpha said its ok, then I will try."  Clarissa smiled, hoping this was the catalyst that would bring her and her brother back together again.  Two hours later Sam came storming through the front door.  After slamming it with such force that a c***k formed and caused all the staff in the kitchen to come out along with Clarissa and her mother.  "Sam? what happened?" Clarissa asked nervously. He turned towards his sister with a furious look on his face. " I never should have listened to you! From now on just leave me alone! You ruined everything with your selfishness!" Sam's mother came in between the two siblings.  Sam did not realized he was stalking towards his sister with his claws out. "But I thought..." stuttered Clarissa in confusion.  " She wouldn't talk to me! Her father forbade her to have anything to to with this entire family. All because you couldn't accept that she could be with me and still be your friend.  It had to be all or nothing with you! You spiteful b***h!" he roared as he turned and ran up the stairs to his room.  Clarissa started to cry when they heard his door slam.  She turned around to look at her mother.  She noticed her other brother Peter looking at her and shaking his head.  "I hope you are happy with yourself.  Can't rest unless someone is miserable huh Clarissa?"  He walked out of the room and back into the library.   Clarissa just sighed.  Not sure what else she could do to change the relationship between her brother and herself she headed into the dining room to have breakfast with her family and the training wolves.  There was a separate table for the Alpha and his family from the warrior wolves.  Clarissa sat down next to Mindy who sat next to Peter.  Those two act as if they could not keep their hands off of each other.  Even while eating, they were holding hands under the table.  Luna Michelle gave a small smile to the two young wolves in love.  She is happy they are finally talking about getting engaged.  Mindy was unaware but Peter had already went to her parents to get their permission.  Her father was happy to say yes and hoped they would get married before his mother passed away.  Mindy was close to her grandmother and knew she wanted her to attend her special day.  "So Alpha Michael, is everything set for the   festival?  I know we are training but do we have enough space to host those who need to stay overnight? " asked his father.  Michael looked up and laughed at his father.  "First of all, stop calling me Alpha Michael dad, I know its been awhile but it still feels weird for you to address me so formally.  Secondly, yes, we have the second floor on the west wing getting ready.  The omegas are cleaning and making a list to give to Michelle  of all the furniture that needs to be purchased to replace what is old and worn out in the rooms.  I also have some cottages down by the south side of the border that can be used for families that choose to come with their Alphas and warrior family members for the festival.  Any one else will just have to find a hotel room in the nearby town.  Unfortunately we are near capacity with the apartments from our own pack members."  His father shook his head in agreement.  He knew there was a boost in pack members with so many young wolves mating and starting families.  They acquired an additional two hundred members between those being born and others joining after finding their mates since Michael took over two years ago.  The pack was now 350 members strong and continuing to grow.  Michael was doing well in the human town as well, He purchased most of the mom and pop shops under the corporation that he started and became the landlord for the land the shops were on.  He had the owners sending their rent payments to the corporation and had a human as he spokes person to visit the sites and speak to the owners whenever there was a problem.  The less the pack interacted with humans the better.  Being so close to the city, the werewolves had to isolate themselves further out in the suburbs and blend in as much as possible in the congested area.  To humans, it looked like a secluded development on the outskirts of their homes with a nice size mansion at the end.  Because the werewolves were there for thousands of years and the humans after, no one really bothered to investigate who actually lived there and felt it was one of the older neighborhoods that passed their homes down to future generations to keep it in the family.  Every now and then a developer would try to sniff around but suddenly the threat of exposure was gone.  No one new how and no one questioned it.  The full moon festival would be held in the back, deep into the woods behind the mansion near the west border of the ten thousand acre property.  It gave the wolves plenty of space to run and not get exposed.  Michelle finished chewing the mouthful of scrambled eggs and addressed her mother-in-law. "Mom, can you come with me into town to purchase a few things?  I want to get all of the visiting Luna's a special gift for attending the festival."  Laura beamed. " That sounds like a splendid idea.  Matter of fact, we can go into the city.  There will be more options.  Clarissa, you and Mindy can come along too.  You still need to purchase a dress for the opening ceremony."  Clarissa smiled at her mother.  " Sure thing mom, its been awhile since Mindy and I had a chance to shop together.  She looked over at Mindy to confirm but Mindy was too busy blushing and staring at Peter.  He was drawing circles into her hand under the table and mind linking  what he wanted to do to her after breakfast.  Mindy blushed again and giggled.  Soon the two noticed that everyone was staring at them. " What?" said Peter after looking around the table at everyone smirking except Clarissa  and Sam.  Clarissa rolled her eyes and Sam looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but there.  Peter decided today would be a good day to hang out with his little brother and try to lift up his spirits.  He couldn't understand why Sam was so sprung on the human girl when there were plenty she wolves that would give it up in a second if Sam only paid attention.  Soon breakfast was completed.  Alpha Michael and his father went into the Alpha's office to discuss the upcoming festival and what Alpha's already agreed to come and who's invitation was still pending.  Luna Michelle and the girls were getting ready to go into the city.  Alpha Michael appointed his gamma  to drive the ladies in and double as body guard to the Luna.  After everyone left the table, Peter looked at his younger brother.  " Hey Sam, I was hoping we could hang out together."  Sam looked at his brother with confusion. "Why? I thought you would want to go with Mom and Luna to look after Mindy."  Peter laughed and shook his head.  "No, actually I am glad mom decided to take Mindy with her.  I could use a break."  He walked over to his younger brother.  " I think you are overdue for a but kicking." Sam reared his head back and got a weary look in his eye. " Excuse me?"  he said.  Peter laughed again.  " you heard me. Last time I checked, we were tied in mortal kombat and I need to finally kick your butt and show you who's boss."  Sam smiled. He did love to play that video game with his brother.  He use to play it with Clarissa, but now its so awkward between them.  He is not mad at her, but its been so long since they hung out and she still has not apologized for setting him up.  Deep down Sam knew it was not her fault that Willa's family made her break ties with all of them, he just wanted his sister to feel what its like to be  wrong and not  get over for doing what she did.  He figured he will let her stew a little longer before extending the olive branch.  Soon, he thought to himself as he follow his older brother into the den to play.
