Chapter : 1
Through the slightly opened window of the bus, a ray of sunlight was coming in.
It fell upon Maynor, causing his eyes to twitch. He blocked the sunlight through his hands and closed the window. He looked out to see if they had reached The Zelia Caves. He had slept throughout the whole ride to the caves, to not feel drowsy.
He grew up listening to the past events of the Cave and everytime he paid attention at what other knew more about it, he felt even more intrigued.
He always wanted to visit The Zelia Caves but he didn't get any chances of coming in this part of the Nuvelleire. So when he heard that the academy is organizing a trip to the caves, he seized the opportunity that was presented before him and applied to join. He even had to practically beg his parents to let him go which eventually did, but Maynor did make quite a fool of himself in front of them.
If it was someone else then people would have considered that person to be weirdly obsessed with a place. But since it was Maynor, a warlock from Taofifénua family, it was quite justified that he wanted to visit this place which was one of the reason why the Taofifénua was considered as the most powerful bloodline of the witches. As it was because of their huge involvement in the event that happened eight hundred years ago that led to destruction of the most powerful clan of the Celestial beings, The Stancelsiors.
The Zelia Caves became infamous in the world of the supernaturals, since the word about the event got out.
Not many people exactly knew what actually happened in the caves except that the Stancelsiors were trapped in their figurine and their powers were locked in an ancient dark object that is somewhere in the Bernalius sea. Some says it was because other Celestials wanted the tyrannical Stancelsiors’ supremacy to end. Others believed that they were probably brainwashed by Zelia Taofifénua.
The Stancelsior name was enough for people to fear the Zelia Caves. They were the most powerful clan of the celestials, and dangerous too. Legend says that the Stancelsiors could still look over the world even while being trapped.
They must have been suffering from the feeling of being helpless. To not be able to even bat your eyelash for and continuously suffer from mental torture since last eight years is sure something that nobody would like upon themselves. Many people even pitied over The Stancelsiors but then realized that they are the most powerful supernatural being and even thinking about trying to free them would be a plainly stupid act.
They must've developed perennial rage for the rest of the world which no one could be ever ready to combat.
Maynor was one of the few who knew more about that incident than the most of the population. How could he not, if it wasn't for Zelia Taofifénua, the head of the Taofifénua family at that time, other celestials couldn't have trapped the Stancelsiors.
Her involvement in that act brought all the fame upon the Taofifénua. However, Maynor didn't feel great about it even though they were exalted for it. He still wasn't very fond of the way that the Stancelsiors had to suffer. It was all so unjust in his eyes.
The Stancelsiors, they were one of the reason why Maynor wanted to come here but there was more to it.
He had planned some more things other than exploring this place. He actually wanted to sneakily reach the last tomb where the Stancelsiors were kept and feel the ancient magic of the most powerful witches and warlocks in the history. It would sure be a lot for even a Taofifénua warlock but he couldn’t just back down from his motive.
He would definitely extend his limit for using dark magic and become the most powerful warlock and darkness wielder in the world.
He got off his and gave his permit pass to the guards of the caves.
They were mixed-creatures, half sphinx and half werewolf. Their eyes were a shade of purple with a hint of yellow in them.
Their body was the size of a palm tree with built muscles. Sharp canines were showing when they spoke and their face was a mix of a loin’s and a wolf’s.
Some new freshmen in the academy were terrified to see them. It was probably their first time seeing a mixed creature of sphinx descent. But it was nothing new to Maynor. He had all kinds of beasts at his manor serving his family as a part of family legacy.
“Are you ready for it?”
Gwyneth Berrette, one of his close friends asked from behind. Only then, Gregorio Berrette, her cousin took his airpods out to listen to their conversation. These two Berrette cousins were the only people Maynor would trust outside his family. Hailing from the prestigious family of fire wielding witches, they also fell on the elite side of the supernatural community on Nuvelleire.
They both knew his true motive behind coming to this school trip. In fact, they were working together in this rebellious act.
“We need to get started before anyone senses something suspicious.” Gregorio said in a whisper tone, carefully looking around.
“Don’t be in such a rush, Rio.” Maynor said in a deep tone, trying to remind him of their conversation of last night about the same topic.
“You know patience is the key here. Moreover, we might not be the only one who came here with an ulterior motive.” Again thinking of every possible possibility, Maynor stated the next safe step.
“It’s true. That could be possible and it could create a huge hindrance for us.” Gwyneth pointed out.
“It’s only a hindrance if you let it be. Think about it from the other way around. It could be a blessing in disguise.” Maynor said in a calm tone directing toward something.
“Looks like your 210 IQ really is convenient for us, Maynor. We could just wait for someone to create a commotion and do what we have to behind everyone’s back.” Gwyneth thought it was a clever idea to let someone who’s already in the way to distract everyone and also take the blame for touching the last forbidden cave.
Both Gwyneth and Gregorio were grinning like a maniac and Maynor had a smug look on his face.
