Longest week ever in the history of long weeks. I'm usually a pretty laid back guy, take things as they come, never get too worked up over anything. That was until I met Savannah Grace. I thought today was never going to get here. It's finally Friday, the last day of school before the weekend that I get to finally hang out with her. I walk into 7th period high on life.
"Hey Savannah Grace! I'm looking foward to this weekend!" We had talked on and off throughout the week in our two periods a day together. I'm really starting to get used to our light banter.
"I'm excited! If you and Jackson want to come over tomorrow around 1 or so, we can have lunch and just kind of hang out."
"Sounds great, I'll let Jackson know" I say to her even though he is within earshot and can hear everything we just said. She smiles at me as we get to work on our projects.
"You guys have really been getting along lately" Jackson says to me.
"Yeah, it turns out she's really easy to talk to. Every time I talk to her, I get a little less nervous. But the butterflies never go away." I say, a little embarrased. I could never say any of these things to my basketball buddies.
"I knew you guys would get along once you got up the courage to talk to her. Do you think you'll ask her out?"
"I don't know, I guess I'll see where this weekend goes."
Finally it's time to go home. Friday afternoons always drag by but this week was worse. This week I really had something to look foward to. I can't believe I'll actually be at her house tomorrow! I hope I don't do or say something stupid. I think to myself as I make my way to the bus waiting area.
I get home and have to decide what to do with the rest of my afternoon. Sitting at home would just make me think of her even more and the time will just drag on. I pull out my phone and send her a quick text before changing and heading to the courts to play a little ball. Maybe I'll even go for a run.
"Hey! Just wanted to say it was good seeing you in audio class today, you looked pretty. I hope you have a great rest of the day, I will see you tommorrow!" I didn't really expect a reply, I just wanted to let her know I was thinking about her without being too overbearing. Surprisingly it's not three minutes before my phone dings.
"Thanks! You too!"
I close my phone with a smile on my face. I'm pretty sure this smile hasn't left my face since the first text she ever sent me. Life was good. I head out to the court, there are a couple guys out there. They aren't on the team but I recognize them from around school. We decide to start a game and play for the rest of the afternoon into the evening.
I head home for dinner feeling refreshed from the workout. Ok and maybe from talking to Savannah Grace too but either way, it's a great combination!
