Jackson - The Mall

1008 Words
Saturday morning, I wake up and lay in bed, I am oddly excited about seeing Savannah Grace today. I know we are just going to the mall to hang out but I think I'm actually starting to like her in a more than friends sort of way. I know she's Brayden's ex but he's basically removed himself from our lives so would it really be a bad thing if I asked her out? I've always thought she was pretty but never thought much past that, she's always been Brayden's girl. I guess I'll just see how things pan out today. I get out of bed and hop in the shower then head downstairs to grab some breakfast. I have a few things that I need to do before I pick Savannah Grace up this afternoon. "Good morning" my mom says, "do you have any plans for today?" "Yeah, since dad is out of town for work, I thought I'd take a break from helping him for the weekend. I'm going to go clean out my car and pick Savannah Grace up. We're heading to the mall for a little bit". "The mall? That's not a place I ever thought you'd spend your free Saturday afternoon" "I know, she said she needed to go to a couple of places and I volunteered to take her". "That was nice of you. Have you heard anything from Brayden yet?" "No, I've heard some rumors but haven't heard from him in quite a while." "That's a shame, I really hope things are ok with him." "So do I, I really miss my best friend." "How's Savannah Grace doing with all of this, weren't they together for a while?" "Yeah, she's ok. She seems to be getting better every day even though she still has the occasional bad day now and then. I think she'll be ok" "Don't we all. Good to hear. Don't forget your jacket, it's going to be chilly today." "I won't mom, thanks!" "You're welcome, have a good afternoon." she says as I head outside to work on cleaning out my car. Maybe I'll even take it through the car wash and give it a good cleaning on the inside too. A few hours later, I'm done and back home, I throw some of my clothes in the washing machine and get them started while I figure out what I'm going to wear this afternoon. The clothes I was wearing smelled of car cleaner and sweat, I don't think that she'll be too impressed with that scent. I leave my house around 1:30 and head over to her house. I park my car in her driveway, go up to her front door and ring the bell. A few seconds later, she opens the door looking beautiful as always. She has on a pair of dark wash jeans and a pink sweater. She grabs her purse, yells goodbye to her mom, and we head out the door. I open the car door for her and she steps inside. "Thanks for taking me today." She says "No problem, I'm looking forward to getting to spend a little extra time with you. This ended up perfectly, my dad is out of town this weekend so I don't have to spend the whole weekend helping him around his shop and stuff." "That's good, I know it's nice to have a break sometimes" "It is" I say. We both fall into silence. I don't know what to say and by the looks of it, neither does she. She just plays with her hair and looks out the window as we drive. After a few more minutes of silence, we get to the mall. We both step out and head towards the front doors. "Where do you need to go?" I ask her "The main two stores I wanted to go to are Bath and Body Works and American Eagle but you don't have to come with me. You can go do whatever you want then meet me back at the food court for dinner in a bit." "That's ok, I don't mind tagging along" "Are you sure?" "Of course! Let's go!" We go to her stores as well as a few others before both of us are starving and ready for some food. "Should we head to the food court?" She says looking up at me. "Definitely!" We get there and figure out where we wanted to get food from. I let her take the lead, I can pretty much find something to eat anywhere. We both order and I hand the guy behind the register my debit card. "You aren't paying for me! You've done enough by bringing me here and tagging along as I drug you into every store. I should be paying for your meal!" "It's no problem" I say. She gives me a side look but in the end knows I'll win this argument so she quickly gives up. "Well thank you" she says "you really did not have to do that." "I know" I say with a smile. After we eat our meal and are finished with the mall, we make our way to the car. I'm a little nervous about what I'm going to ask her but this just feels right. Especially after the day we just spent together. "Hey Savannah Grace? Would you like to maybe go get dinner with me sometime?" "Didn't we just eat dinner?" she says looking up at me with a confused look on her face. "We did but I mean somewhere nicer. Like a date." "A date? I'm not sure I'm ready for that just yet". I'm a little disappointed but I understand. "Ok, well just to let you know, whenever you are ready, I am here" We get into my car and head towards the exit of the parking lot. I really hope I didn't just ruin our friendship. Before we make it to the exit, I look over at her and out of the blue, leaned over and kissed her.
