Kapitulo 10 I shook my head and walked into the arena. Ghad is still talking to the girl. I sigh and walk through him. He notices me when he is about to form a word. The girl turned round and smiled at me. Ghad walked in my direction and hugged me. I rubbed his hair and he rubbed my back. As I was about to look around, I saw Cyrex a few yards away, talking to a girl. Miss Pangasinan has been crowned as the new representative for the country. I greeted her a while ago and she hugged me. She couldn't believe that she was here, and she was wearing the crown. "Where were you?" he asked and I shrugged, smirking. "Goodness. Come with me. Sheram was vomiting. " My eyes enlarged. "What did you just say?" He sighs. "Uncle called me a while ago and told me about Sheram's condition." "Will he be okay?" I asked frantically. He nods, smiling. "He's okay. Don't you worry." I felt relieved after that. But the fact that Cyrex cut off what was between us haunts me. I was out of sight when Ghad and the girl were discussing something, and I was just listening to them. At the same time, I simply look at Cyrex, who avoids looking at me. "Do you know what?" Ghad pauses when we're at the freeway. "I have been through with the Abante's. And I could tell they were one of the ideal companies for an internship. " "Agree," said the girl. She was sitting at the back, while I was sitting next to Ghad. Ghad is smiling at me, and I can't help but smile back. The girl was physically grateful. She had olive skin, her body was an inverted triangle, and her hair was close to blonde. It's so ideal to see a woman like her. When Ghad pulled over the car in the parking lot, the girl nodded and Ghad smiled at her. She walked into the building while my cousin was grinning while driving. What the hell was that? Scoffing, I say, "Can I ask you something?" "Sure, what is that?" he said, barely glancing at me, busy steering the wheel. I breathe. "Do you like her?" He was stunned. He looks away. My eyes cornered at him, but he couldn't take a glance at me. I know something is happening between the two. Or... I was just hallucinating again. "Wait, what are you saying?" His voice sank when a car stopped at the front. Our body steered forward when he pushed the brake. "What the hell?" I look at the car. That's someone's familiar car. But wait, who is this car by the way? The car Ghad was driving? My head was spinning at the thought. We came to the venue all in one vehicle, Cyrex. So, who owns this vehicle? "Ghad, have you forgotten?" I asked and he looked at me, perplexed. "Forgot about what?" he asked, glancing at the car in front of us. "We arrived at the location entirely in his car," I pause and take a deep breath. "So, who owns this car that you're driving now?" He smirks at me. "W-what... do you mean?" My brow crinkled. "Ghadmer..." He sighs. "Okay, fine. This was his car. He lets us use this." I was shocked. After what I did to him? After what I said? What the hell was he thinking? My sight went to the car. And then a man pulled down from his car and walked in our direction. Wearing his blank face, I was skeptical about even looking at him. That was so close to idiotness. I was so numb! He knocked on the glass. Ghad put down the windshield. He didn't look back at me and fixed his gaze on my cousin. "Ibalik mo na lang 'to kung kailan mo gusto," Cyrex said while looking down at my cousin, and Ghadmer's nod. He said, nodding and looking at him. "By the way, don't you want to come with us tonight?" "Where?" he said coldly. "Bummer. To the place we've come to," Ghadmer smirked. I look at him. His peripheral version glances at me. I saw the rage in his eyes. Look what you've done, Fereine. His eyes are now in flames. Firing. "I can't come. I'm busy," he said, as if he was too bored to answer the question. Ghad nods. "Okay. Alright, have a pleasant night." Ghad put up the windshield, and I saw him walk back into his car. He's so cold. Glum. When we were close to the house, Ghad looked at me as if he was trying to examine my eyes. I smiled at him and walked out of the car. As I held up the door, I saw Sheram vomiting. "Jesus!" I said and I went to him, helping him to stand. "What the hell is happening to you?" He looks away. "Get the f**k out of me!" I shook my head. "No, I'll not allow you to shout back at me." "I'm sick!" he shouted, facing me. "And I don't know... why." I rubbed his back. "Sheram, what did you do to yourself, huh?" He looks at me. His charcoal eyes seemed to be majestic. My eyes land on his body. Athletic as it may seem, his skin is darker than tan. "God," Ghadmer's voice echoed in the room. "Sheram, let me bring you to the hospital." "Christ! No!" he yelled. "Sheram, 'wag nang makulit," Ghad said and he cussed again. "This is for your own good, bro." And with a flick of seconds, he vomits again. I rubbed his back and hugged him, but I couldn't help but cry in defeat. What was he doing to himself? If he was still guilty of the crime he did a few years ago, then it's not healthy for him. It is not! Sheram called him, and he hugged him. "Kuya, I'm scared." Ghad looked at him. "Please... no. Don't be scared. Kuya's here. We're strong. We'll be hanging out soon. I promise you that." Sheram hugged him. "Kuya, what if I'm dying?" "No, you're not," interjected Ghadmer. "Kuya..." His voice sank and collaped. "Sheram!" I shouted, crying. "Sheram, please..." Ghad rubs my back. "He's okay." The ambulance came more than thirty minutes later. I even scolded each one of them for coming late. When we arrived at the hospital, they put Sheram on the stretcher and sprinted to the emergency room. "Sheram..." I called him for once and the door shut. I covered my face with my hands and Ghad hugged me, pressing his lips to my head. "He'll be okay," he assured me, and I shook my head. "Shh... calm down, sweetie. That man will never leave us. He's stronger than we think." I nodded forcedly. We settled down at the bench while Ghad was still rubbing my back. Many people were staring at me. I rested my head on his broad shoulder while many others were staring at me. I thought that they were looking at my face, but it seemed like they were wondering about my outfit. I didn't change because I didn't have time to change. It's Sheram's ambulance and I can't waste time on an outfit. It has been a few minutes since Sheram was admitted to the emergency room. I saw a man walking to our place. His hand was in his trousers pocket, wearing his business attire. I tried to look at him and his eyes anchored on me. I looked away when I still saw the fire in his eyes. He stopped at me. "How's he?" he asked Ghad. Ghad shook his head. "We don't know. I-I..." He sat next to Ghad and patted his shoulder. "He'll be okay. That fella seemed to be strong in any area. " "Sana nga..." Ghad muttered. Cyrex silence made me fumble. Until the doors opened and the man in the white robe came into view. The stereoscope hung around his head, wearing transparent glass for his eyes. Ghad pulled himself up. "How's my brother, doc?" The doctor smiled. "He's fine. Was there any food the patient had taken before this happened? " Ghad looks faint. "Are you saying he was food poisoned?" The doctor sighed and looked at the log book. "Based on the observations, he's taken a lot of nephelium lappaceum." My brow creased. "What... is that?" "We call it rambutan here, doesn't it?" he said and shrugged. "We still have to do further observation for the patient. He will be on hold for about... weeks. " "Weeks?" Ghad raised his voice. "Doc, he's just food poisoned." "But we still have to do serious monitoring for the patient," he cuts off. Cyrex patted his shoulder. "Okay, doc. We'll wait for the next result." The man nodded. He glanced at his watch and strolled out. I glanced at Cyrex, but he didn't even bother to look at me. I have to get used to this by now, because he's angry with me. I can adjust the unworthy. "Na-food poison lang naman siya..." Ghad's voice sank at the end of the word when Cyrex rubbed his back. Ghad nods. "We can't contradict the result, bro," he says, and he's nodding. "Yeah, I know," he said. It had been more than an hour when Cyrex left us. He has a lot of important business to do. But what made me feel low was that he treated me as cold as ice in every matter. I hold Sheram's hand. His hand pulsates and I look at him. His eyes twinkle in an attempt to open. I manage to bring his hand to my face and he raises one of his fingers to press my lips. "Cuz..." he said almost in a whisper. I stoop, crying at his hand. His other hand lands on my head, brushing the corner of my hair. I bobbed my head to face him as he was trying to smile at me. "I don't know what will happen to me if something happens to you, "I said in a raspy tone, and he slight smiled. "Starting from now, you can't eat anything without our order, Sheram." He smirks slightly. "I'm not a kid. I can produce babies." I sigh. He's back. My naughty cousin is back. But despite the fact that he's still in love with that woman, he blames himself every time he can. "You cannot produce babies, for now," I taunt him. "You're sick." "No," he said with a thick accent and tried to rise, but I seized him. "Fine. I have no strength for pleasure now. I have to get my strength back first." I nodded, smirking. Even though he says a lot of censored things, he hasn't felt that I am alone. He's always there since Cyrex and I have dated each other. He supports me in my studies, even though I hate academics. He pursued me to like them. I rubbed his face. "Who was the girl? He glanced at me and into the wall. A sigh of despair is evident in his eyes. I lean on him and kiss his head. He hugged me and I heard him exhale. "The girl was nowhere to be found," he muttered, and I felt the pain in his voice. "He's always in my dreams. I wanted to find her, and when I collapsed I saw her face again. " I rubbed my hand on his head. "Did you know her name?" He shook his head. "What I remember about her, was we made love and she gave everything to me. My soul mate. " I forced the tears to drop. I hugged him again and wiped the rain from my face. He's doing this just to forget her. I know it. He's doing this just to forget that they once crossed. "Sleep, baby boy," I whispered, pressing my lips on his brow. "Nighty night, cuz." I managed to fix his head on the cushion while his mouth parted. His appearance was deteriorating, and I hated it. He's not the Sheram I knew; he's weak and can't even move on now.
