Chapter Twenty-Four - Release It took a while for Albert’s eyes to become accustomed to the light. He turned back and looked at the high stone walls topped with barbed wire and the rows of small windows in the prison building which towered above. A guard led him to the gate in the perimeter wall. He stepped through into the street, the outside. The door shut behind him. To his left was a public house, on the hill he could see the cathedral. To his right, he could see the courthouse. Then he saw her. She was standing by a house on the opposite side of the road. Albert couldn’t be sure at first. He stared at the woman and she started walking towards him.
