Chapter NineteenTen Days After
Josie took a couple of vacation days and then nervously appeared for work for the first time since the robbery in California. Family and friends had been supportive of her and the hostage ordeal she had been through. She was working to make amends to Tom and recover her life. The night before he had kissed her for the first time since all this had happened, and she could feel his forgiveness on the horizon.
She grabbed coffee at eight o'clock and within three minutes, Don called her into his office. “Close the door,” he directed. She did so.
He stood and walked over to her. “Josie,” he said softly, “I want to be with you, just you. I am prepared to leave Naomi for you—for us.”
