Chapter 4: Always Safe

I stood there in wolf form. They were so close to us. You could feel their breath on us. Ryan and I were backed against the edge. "I suggest you off yourself before we hurt this girl." A voice threateningly said. Then I felt it, the teeth digging into my neck. I woke up screaming. Raiden stormed into the room "What's wrong? Where's the threat?" He shouted searching the room for anyone who wasn't supposed to be there. "It's her nightmares about her mate." Mave was explaining why I was screaming and what the dreams meant. I stared at Raiden taking him in. He was only in a pair of black boxers his member bulging, barely being contained. The moonlight was hitting his sculpted abs and his disheveled hair was sexy. "Mommy are we ok?" Adi snapped me out of the thoughts I probably shouldn't be having. "You are safe here Adira, I promise to protect you." Raiden told her. "Go back to sleep sweetheart." I told her and she covered herself in the blanket yet again. "Thank you and I'm sorry to startle you." I apologized to Raiden. "Don't be sorry. Everyone's safe, that's my only concern." He left the room. Even his ass was perfectly sculpted. Really Scar?! I mentally scolded myself. "Hey you ok?" Mave asked. "Yeah it's weird though what happened in my dream this time didn't happen in reality. Like any of it. Normally there's only some variation that didn't happen." Mave looked puzzled. It was weird. "Hmm well let's try to get some sleep." Mave suggested. Raiden I heard a scream and started running to the room. I barged through the door looking for any threat. Mave started explaining about Scarlett's nightmares and her mate. I could feel her eyes on me. Could feel them taking in every inch of my body. I probably shouldn't have just barged right in and especially in boxers but I couldn't take the chance of something being in here. I knew my borders were secure but I was always on high alert. When I left the room I felt her eyes on my ass. Maybe she was interested after all? Maybe there was hope. Mave I got up early the next morning and showered. It felt good to be clean. After getting dressed I walked out to the kitchen. Raiden was standing over the stove cooking, his to me. "Goodmorning." He greeted me before taking a sip of his coffee. "Goodmorning." I greeted back. He placed a mug of coffee in front of me. "Thank you." He just nodded his head. I sat at the counter and started drinking my coffee. I remember when Raiden and I were together, he'd wake up early, make us breakfast and my coffee. Back then he wouldn't touch the stuff. When he first asked me on a date when I was 15, I told him I'd only agree to go if he learned how I like my coffee. Then when he asked me to marry him I told him I'd only marry him if He promised to make me coffee everyday. He always kept his promise. I took another sip, he still remembered how I took my coffee and he still made it exactly the same. "You remember." I smiled. "Always. I couldn't forget, I mean I did make it every day sometimes more for 3 almost 4 years." He chuckled. There was a pause. "Look there's something I need to tell you." He all of a sudden became serious. "Levi is dating someone, has been for the past 2 years. I should have told you yesterday. I'm really sorry Mave." At Least he told me now before I was foolish enough to throw myself at him. "Thanks, I mean it doesn't really matter, I'm only here for a couple more hours anyway and I'll be gone again." I Was trying to put on a brave face. But it hurt it really hurt. Scarlett I walked into the kitchen after showering and dressing Adira and myself. I was surprised to see Raiden at the stove cooking. "Goodmorning!" Adi shouted at him in her sing-song voice. "Good Morning and what would you like for breakfast?" He bent down to her level and asked her with a smile on his face. "Chocate pantakes?" She asked him. "Coming right up!" He started getting out ingredients. "You don't have to do that." I told him. "It's no bother, I forgot to ask. Is she allowed to have chocolate pancakes?" He looked at me mid grab of the chocolate chip bag. "Yeah it's fine. Thank you. " I smiled and sat next to Mave at the counter. "How do you take your coffee?" He asked, reaching for a coffee mug. "Uh just cream and extra sugar thank you." I told him. He nodded and soon there was a steaming cup of coffee sat in front of me. I smiled at him before taking a sip. "Hey man what ya cookin?!" A tall, dark haired, purple eyed guy walked into the room. He looked just like Raiden. I felt Mave freeze at the sound of the voice. Raiden slowly turned before plopping a plate of tiny pancakes in front of Adi. "And who is this little cutie?" The man was looking at Adi now. "You gonna introduce me Raid?" He asked when Raiden made no move to explain. Then his eyes locked onto Mave. "You're alive." He was shocked. "Ooo something smells good." A blonde walked in, kissing the man on the cheek before walking over and stealing some bacon off of a plate. Paying us no mind. "I'm alive." Mave just gave her sarcastic smile that she always did when something bothered her. "Oh hello, I'm so rude. I'm Tatum, Levi's fiance." The blonde held out her hand to shake. "Scarlett." I said without shaking her hand. "This is my daughter Adira." I hoped that would be enough for this girl to get the hint. "And you?" She asked Mave. Tatum was being friendly but this girl definitely didn't read the room. "Maven. Raiden, Levi, nice seeing you both again and thank you for the breakfast." Mave stood up and started walking out of the room. Raiden followed after her, while Levi stood there still shocked.
