Chapter 6

1522 Words
Friday had arrived pretty quickly, and I couldn't have been more nervous. Justin had completely ignored me after the whole picture fiasco on Monday. He thought it was pretty real and basically had broken up with me. I was more than pissed but he wouldn't understand what I was doing, or even why for that matter. Apparently Logan wanted to meet at the movies. Lame 'first' date ever. All the while I couldn't help but think about what Beatrix said to me, "Be careful." Did she know Logan had moved here? Was she the one who put the letter in my locker? That couldn't be right though since she had no possible way of getting into the school and putting it in there. This was just all so confusing! It was like she was a f*****g oracle telling me that I'm in some sort of danger. I arrived at the movies and it was like meeting central from everyone from school. Great, just make my life even more complicated! What was I going to say if someone saw me with Logan? I was doing "extra credit”? On second thought, I could do that and sound like a slut! Many of them thought I was a slut already so why not go along with it?! I bought my ticket for "Abduction". It looked lame but anything to waste a Friday night! I went inside and bought my drink. All of a sudden I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and sure enough it was Justin. s**t. "Hey, what are you doing here?" he asked me. "Nothing... Going to watch a movie with a friend, you?" I asked, trying to keep a look out for Logan. "Same. So enlighten me, are we still together?" "Why would you think we weren't? I've just been busy with school and all that. I'm sorry if I'm not spending enough time with you, but I promise to make it up to you!" I told him. "Okay then, just making sure. I'm sorry for assuming. Anyways, how's life?" "It's okay." I said dully. Just then, Logan showed up and our eyes met each other. He saw I was talking to Justin and went immediately towards the theatre. "Okay, well my friend's here! I'll text you later! Bye!" "Umm, okay. Bye." I walked to the theatre feeling way nervous than usual. I couldn't get Beatrix's warning out of my head. Just then, as if on cue, I received a text from her. "Don't screw this up. You'll pay for it if you do. I'm watching you." What the hell. I was looking around for her but had no luck. I was awestruck. She knows I'm posing as her! How did she figure it out? s**t. Now I was going to have to be perfect. I went in the theatre and looked for Logan. He was in the front row waiting for me with popcorn. For a teacher, he sure did clean up very nice for a date. "Hey!" he said. "Hey! Sorry but I need to go to the bathroom right quick." I quickly said. "Umm, okay! I'll be waiting." I quickly made my way out and was determine to find her. I looked everywhere, from the arcade to the concession stand. It was no use. If she really was watching me, she was doing a good job hiding. I went to the bathroom anyways to make sure I looked perfect. As I went in, it seemed completely empty. I made my way towards the sink, but just then the lights went out. I stood still and didn't make a sound. A pair of hands were around my neck, and a raspy voice said, "It isn't nice to play pretend Silvia. Shall I just end it now before he does?" There's was no way this was Beatrix. Her voice didn't sound like that. I struggled to make myself free from whoever this was. I kicked my legs backward very hard hitting them. I was freed from their grasp and tried to make my way towards the door. "AGH!" they yelled. I felt through the dark room and manage to find the door handle and ran straight to the theatre. I barely made it in time for the previews to start. I went straight towards Logan. "Everything okay? You looked like you just seen a ghost." He said. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just scared myself." I lied. He laughed. "How did you manage to do that?" "Long story!" "Man, that movie was terrible!" Logan said, as we walked out of the theatre. "Eh, it was okay. So where to next?" I asked. "How about ice cream?" He suggested. "Um, sure! It's alright if I go with you, right? My car hasn't been working." I told him. "How'd you get here then?" He asked. "The bus." I said bluntly. We got in his car and headed towards Sonic. During the car ride, I couldn't help but think about my, what would have been, murder. Sure enough that wasn't Aphrodite. It didn't feel like it could be, or maybe that's what I wanted myself to think. Again, as if on cue, I got yet another text from her. "Good job, but that's just the beginning. You're leading him on. I swear if you make him just the tiniest bit angry... Well we'll just let you figure that out on your own." Okay, now she was just scaring me. Was Logan really that bad? He just couldn't seem capable! I quickly sent a text telling her about my near-death experience. She then replied: "OH trust me, If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already." That sent a chill down my spine. "If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already." It's as if she wants me gone. I quickly put my phone away and looked out the window. "You okay?" Loganasked. "Yeah, just pissed at a few friends." "Oh, wanna talk about it?" "Not quite. I'm sorry" "No, it's cool. If you don't wanna talk about it then you don't have to." He smiled. No wonder Beatrix loved him. He was certainly a charmer. "Can you just drop me off here, I'm not in the mood for ice cream and I can walk." I told him. He looked upset. "Well, okay..." He pulled to the curb and dropped me off, then I started walking home. *** I got home and my parents weren't home. I went inside and went straight to my room. It certainly had been a long day. I turned on my light and saw that Beatrix was on the bed. I screamed. I was even more terrified of her now. "Well if it isn't lil' miss impostor herself." She said. "Look, I'm sorry but he just seemed so sure of himself that I was you!" I said quickly. "Look it's okay, but those texts I sent you were serious." She said bluntly. "I thought so, but if you didn't try killing me then who did?" "I have no idea." she said. "Well I know you know how I was posing as you. Tell me how you figured it out." I asked her. "Well, you know how I answered you on f*******: even though I never updated in a year? Well, Logan's been messaging that he's been missing me and couldn't believe we were having another date Friday. As soon as he said that I suddenly knew it was you who'd been posing as me, so I replied to his messages which blows my cover of being M.I.A. thanks to you." she explained. "Look, I'm sorry but I didn't know he was psycho until you and my strangler told me!" I defended myself. "It's alright. I don't blame you for not knowing, but now you can't just stop now. He'll become obsessive if you break it off again, but don't worry, I have yet another lead but for ourfather this time. He lives in Colorado. I'll make my way towards there and you just keep pretending. When I come back, we'll both leave, okay?" "You're kidding! You have a lead on our dad? Oh my gosh! Yes! I'll keep it up!" I said. I couldn't believe we'd be able to find our father! "You better. Anyways, sorry but I'm going to leave now. I'll be back whenever I can!" she was making her way outside but I stopped her. "WAIT! Did you write that note and put it in my locker then?" "Yes, I didn't actually leave last weekend. I knew way before then that you were posing as me, since Logansent me the messages that he couldn't believe I was alive. Remember? I don't feel like repeating myself. Anyways, I wrote it, knowing Aphrodite's his step-sister, and went early Monday morning and tracked down your locker." she explained. "Smartass." "Thank you!" she said with a smile and left. I went to lay down on my bed. Wow. I couldn't believe all this was happening now. My mom's dead, but my dad's alive! There's no way things could get worse right?
