Chapter 13 The Wolf/Francessca

I sat at my desk in my office drifting off to sleep and I was thinking about Jack. I had just read an article about a new hotel he had built in New York and there was a photo of him standing in his office behind his desk and I could feel myself pant. I had to fan myself at one point but I knew I had to snap myself out of it because I hadn’t seen or heard from him in months. I was so over come with lust that I reached into my bag and topped up my ice coffee with Whiskey. I was startled when my assistant rang through to say I had a call from my sister “which one?” I asked and she grunted “Bunny” I couldn’t help but sigh because she could be a total pain in the arse. I answered the phone and I had to listen to her go on for 20 minutes about how she had discovered some new artist from Norway and I wanted to shoot myself. “Wolfie.. I called because I wanted to let you know that I’ve been dating someone and I don’t want it to be awkward between us” I sat up in my chair because this was the first interesting thing she had said the entire time she’d been on the phone. “why would it be awkward?” I asked “well I know you and him had a thing and now I’m seeing him and I don’t want you to be jealous” she was literally the most insincere person I had ever met but she was my sister so I had to put up with her. “Who is it?” I asked because I couldn’t think straight, this conversation had literally melted my brain. “Well do you remember when I was in your office and I met the Owen brothers...” My heart sank, if she said she was dating Jack I knew I couldn’t hold back from crying. “What? How do you know them?” I asked “we met that day in your meeting room when you made a total fool out of yourself” she always had a way of putting people down and I usually ignored her. “Oh so you met them the day you came to the office and walked them out. You probably had to have a rest after that it’s the only work you’ve done in years” I said and she just ignored me “anyway he said you guys were together and that you had a messy break up and I don’t want to upset you but he and I are crazy about each other” I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. “Well I wish you both well” I said but I was fighting back tears. “Thanks Wolfie” she said and finished the call. I sat there going over the conversation. She had made me feel like s**t, told me she was seeing the guy that I was crazy about but what pissed me off the most was she hadn’t even asked how Teddy was. Teddy was the only reason any of my family put up with her. He loved her therefore we had to take the put downs and the ruined family parties because she’d try and start an argument with us. We all hated her except for Mamba, we all had our own reasons but it all boiled down to fact that she was the most like our father. She was evil to the core but Teddy didn’t know or he was just a better person than us. Either way she was lucky to be part of our family after all the s**t she’d put us through.

That weekend I decided to sleep late because I was exhausted. It was Saturday morning and I lay there pretending to sleep but it was already 11 o’clock and Teddy burst in my bedroom door “Wolfie, get up we need to go to the party” he said and he had tried to dress himself. He’d put gel in his hair and I could see that he hadn’t even washed his face yet. “What party?” I asked as I yawned and stretched “Bunny is having a party today for her new boyfriend, Monkey told me. We have to go it’s going to be good fun” he was so excited that I almost didn’t realise that we hadn’t been invited. I called my sister in law Sandra she was married to the beast. I asked her about it and she didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. I thought that maybe Teddy was getting a little bit confused but Monkey called to see what time we were going to be there and I told him we weren’t invited but that we had to go because Teddy was excited to see his family. Monkey said if we weren’t going then neither was he and I must admit he made me laugh. We got there a little later than everyone because I knew I had to make a nice lunch for Teddy before we got there because Bunny lived on lettuce and her food was vile. The Beast offered to drop us off and pick us up but there was no way he would step foot into Bunny’s apartment. He was the only one of us that didn’t speak to her and I respected his feelings but I had to go because Teddy wanted to go. My brothers could have easily looked after him but I didn’t trust Bunny and I had to face Jack and her as a couple and I felt like I wanted to lay down and cry. To my absolute delight she was with Ashton. I couldn’t believe it. I had built it all up in my head. Jack was there and he looked incredible and he was kind to Teddy and I couldn’t believe how stupid I’d been. When I was leaving I looked at Jack and I didn’t want to go another day without seeing him. I asked them both to my house the next day for our family dinner. They both said yes but the only down side was that they would need to bring Bunny. She was never invited because she had ruined too many dinners. She would complain the whole time and then try to start an argument. But this time I had a plan. I was going to try really hard to remain calm and let my brothers sort her out for once. And then I was going to tell Jack that I loved him and I wanted his babies. Well I knew none of this was going to actually happen but I still felt optimistic that it would all go well.
