Sophia divorce
For more than five hours, Sophia waited for Ethan to visit her at the hospital—if only to console her after the miscarriage she had just suffered. But neither Ethan nor anyone from the Williams family came.
At last, Sophia gave up hope and returned home. As she entered the compound, she noticed it was filled with expensive cars.
"Are they celebrating someone? Or has the Williams family gathered to make things even worse for me?" she wondered, trying to make sense of the unusual scene.
Sophia stepped into the living room, her body still aching from the miscarriage. Every step sent a sharp pain through her abdomen. The stitches pulled as she walked, but the cold stares from the Williams family hurt even more
"So, the witch is finally back," Abigail sneered.
Sophia stood silently as every eye in the room fixed on her.
"Have you suddenly become mute?" Ethan's sister shouted.
"That's because I'm not a witch," Sophia replied boldly.
The entire Williams family burst into laughter. Only Ethan remained silent, his hands tucked into his pockets.
Standing beside him was Isabella, the company's general secretary.
"It is only a witch who devours her own children, you have just had three miscarriages within two years of marriage." Abigail continued cruelly.
"You've just proven that you are one."
For the first time, Ethan spoke.
"So you came back home expecting me to get you pregnant again, for you to eat the child up? Do you have any idea what you've put me through? I've been humiliated by my friends, relatives, and even business partners.
They all thought I was the problem, only to discover that you were the reason."
He pointed at Sophia.
"As you can see, I regret ever making you my wife. You've never been worthy of the Williams family. I've decided to replace you with my secretary."
That was when Sophia felt her heart shatter even more.
"This isn't the day you replaced me, Ethan. You did that a long time ago. I was only pretending not to know, but I did. I thought that if I endured everything and this last pregnancy survived, it would change our marriage. But I finally realize that nothing has changed. You may call her your secretary, but I've long accepted that she's your side chick," she said, her voice trembling with pain.
"At least she's better than you," Ethan replied coldly. "She's carrying my child. Your pregnancy ended in a miscarriage after just six weeks, while hers is already two months along. Doesn't that prove you're the problem?"
Ethan's cruel words stunned everyone in the room. A heavy silence followed as they exchanged shocked glances. Even Isabella was left speechless. Tears streamed down her cheeks as the pain of his heartless accusation pierced her soul.
Her hands trembling, her knees weakening, struggling to breathe
Ethan then took a set of divorce papers from the family lawyer and handed them to Sophia.
"Take them... and sign."
Sophia couldn't find the strength to argue. The marriage had drained every ounce of hope she once had. Deep down, she had long wondered if she had married the wrong man.
Sophia stared at the divorce papers through blurred vision. Her fingers trembled as she reached for the pen. The child she had lost, the marriage she had tried to save, and the years she had given Ethan flashed through her mind. She swallowed the lump in her throat before whispering, "If this is what you want... I'll sign."
Norah, a close family friend, frowned. She was more than just a trusted friend of the Williams family—she was the only person who knew almost every secret surrounding Sophia's inheritance, secrets that neither Sophia nor the Williams family were aware of.
"Aren't you even going to beg for another chance? Once you leave this house, life outside may humiliate you."
Sophia looked at her.
"I've wanted this marriage to end for a long time. I just never imagined it would happen this way. But now that it's here, all I have left to do is sign."
Ethan stared at her in disbelief.
"So you've been waiting for these divorce papers?"
"No," Sophia answered. "I wasn't waiting for divorce papers. I was simply tired of this marriage, just as you are. I'm tired of being treated as though I never existed. You have no idea how many nights I've cried alone in the bathroom while you slept peacefully.
You never once checked how soaked my pillow was with tears. All you ever did was accuse me, insult me, and treat me like I was nothing—even after sharing your bed."
For a brief second, Ethan seemed shaken by her words, but he refused to show it.
"She's trying to manipulate you," Isabella quickly interrupted. "Don't let her use her tears and lies to change your mind. She has to leave."
"I don't care what you've been through," Ethan said coldly. "Your suffering means nothing to me anymore. Just sign the papers. That's the least you owe the Williams family."
Then he narrowed his eyes.
"If signing these papers doesn't hurt you, then maybe you've been cheating on me. Maybe that's why you're so eager to leave."
Sophia smiled bitterly.
"This marriage has been hell for me. You and your family have been pushing me out of this house for years."
She paused, picked up the pen, and finally signed the divorce papers.
"Good. She finally did the right thing,"
Jessica said with satisfaction.
Sophia handed the signed papers back to Ethan before turning toward the staircase.
"What are you doing?" Ethan asked.
"I'm going upstairs to pack my belongings."
"You came into this family with nothing," Ethan replied coldly.
"You'll leave with nothing as well."
Sophia froze.
"What do you mean by that, Ethan?"
Before she could say another word, two security guards stepped forward and pointed toward the front door.
"Please leave, Miss. Sophia."
Once called Mrs, Sophia is back to miss.
She slowly looked at Ethan, then at every member of the Williams family. Not one person showed even the slightest sympathy.
Without another word, she turned and walked away.
To Ethan and the rest of the family, Sophia's calm acceptance seemed suspicious.
They had expected tears, pleading, and desperate begging. Instead, she had signed the papers without resistance.
"Could she really be cheating on me?" Ethan wondered.
He quickly dismissed the thought.
"No... who would even want to spend a night with her? She's brainless... and she's not even good in bed."
The room erupted in loud laughter once again.
Each laugh pierced Sophia's heart like a knife. She felt ashamed and broken, but she refused to let them see her cry.
With the last of her dignity intact, she walked out of the Williams mansion, pretending she still had somewhere to go... even though she had nowhere left to call home.
