LAURA CONTI. “s**t!” “s**t!” “s**t!” The first thing I perceived the moment I woke up was a masculine scent. I also felt myself laying on a hard chest, making me recall the events of last night. I gasped real loud realizing what I did. I immediately got up and clutched the bedsheets to my chest, looking at everything except for the man who I had s*x with last night. I don't even know if we used protection or not, I was very confused. I began searching for my phone and in the moment, I felt strong arms grasp me tightly. “And where do you think you’re going to?” his voice, a strong reminder of the reason I followed him, spoke harshly into my ears. I let out a calm growl and turned around calmly to meet his icy blue eyes staring deep into my soul. I tried my best to compose myself, trying hard not to let my emotions take control of me. “Let go of my arm!” I collectively spoke, nudging my shoulders and pulling away. He stared at me confused, his eyes seeming to want to say a lot. “Where are my clothes?” I asked, still clutching tightly onto the bed sheets. “I can’t remember.” Feeling frustrated, I roughly pulled the bedsheet off the bed and off him, making him pull onto my arm harshly. I fell onto his chest and let out a squeal from the harsh contact my jawline made with his chest. I felt so angry. “What is wrong with you? Are you mad?” My eyes slowly landed on my dress which hung on the headboard along with my underwear. I immediately tried to reach for it but he held me even firmer. “Why do you want to leave now? You promised to show me around Italy.” he says, his eyes once again trying to pluck a piece of my soul. “Listen dude, yesterday I had a lot to drink. I must have said a lot of things but I do not mean them and have no intentions of taking you on a tour. Now, let me go!” his arms suddenly let go of me and I reached for my dress which I easily slipped on. I had no need for my underwear because only God knows where they have been. “Where is my cellphone?” I asked, he passed it to me. His eyes, still telling me more than his mouth ever could. I instantly got up and made my way toward the door but before stepping out, I turned around. “You need to leave Italy.” I said before slipping out real quick. I made my way through the hallway of the familiar hotel room, my mind replaying the events of last night and how I ended up on the bed of Mr. Matteo Rossi, a man well known for his love for women and his wealth. I can vividly remember how our conversation started and how I laughed at every joke he told and suddenly found myself on his bed the next morning. It wasn’t like I had never done this before, but it had never been with someone of immense fame. All I can do right now is pray that no one sees me, especially any member of my family. The moment I stood in front of my room, I knocked on the door like my life depended on it, which it did. The door instantly got opened by my friend Jess, who stared at me with a playful smirk on her face. “How did it go?” Came the first words that unfortunately slipped out of her lips. “This conversation will not continue because I have made a huge mistake. If this gets out, my father will kill me, you, and Matteo.” I could loudly hear her gulp. “Okay this has gotten scary.” she said, wiping her forehead. “But they need to understand that you are a grown woman.” I glared at her. “Well, tell that to Luca Conti.” I said. “We need to leave right now, no one must know I didn’t sleep in my room last night, got it?” “I’m no gossip.” Jess said. She immediately reached for our suitcase and stuffed my stuff and hers into it. I was panicking, whilst replaying my fathers words in my mind. He had warned me against having any affair with anyone, especially now that I’m engaged to Levi Lombardi. If this news of me sleeping with Mr. Rossi gets out, my father will have my head. “Laura, I’m done. Let’s go!” Jess’s voice interrupted me, I nodded my head lightly, trying to steady my breath. Along with Jessica, I walked out of the hotel room and out of the hotel, we made our way toward our car which was parked right in front of the hotel. Jess immediately opened the door and we sat in the car. She was going to drive because there is no way I will be able to drive in such a state of mind, I was seriously panicking. I felt Jess’s arms on mine. “Laura everything is going to be fine, okay?” She tried to assure me and I burst into tears. “Jess, this isn’t just about me. If my dad finds out, which I know he definitely will, my mother will suffer.” I said, wiping my tears which as though wanted an escape, refused to stop pouring. “He will not find out, be positive. And even if he does, deny it. At least no one saw you both having s*x. So please, wipe your tears and take in deep breaths.” Her words somewhat comforted me. “You’re right, I can always deny it.” I took in a deep breath and reached for the AC controller, I cranked it up. I laid my head flat on the headboard of the seat, lots of thoughts racing through my mind. I could still feel my palm sweating vigorously. The drive to my fathers mansion wasn’t very long, we arrived in no time. Seeing the mansion made my heart skip a very loud beat, I took in more deep breaths. Jess squeezed palm, assuring me that nothing was going to happen. She further picked a powder palette and dabbed a bit of powder on my face. “Now, you look okay unlike earlier.” She said mockingly, making me chuckle. feeling loved, I instantly threw my arms around her, hugging her tightly. “I LOVE YOU!” I planted a disgusting and slurry saliva peck on her cheeks, making her squeal. I laughed. “Ewww!” She said, wiping the saliva off her cheeks. Discarding every other word we had to say, I arranged my dress, sprayed some perfume and made my way out of the car along with Laura. We were instantly greeted by my father’s minions, who as usual had no iota of smile on their faces. “Good morning, madam Laura.” A guard whose name I always forget greeted, a nod was his response though. I had no time for long talk. I and Jess made our way towards the mansion, we walked through the doors and the familiar smell of cinnamon hit my nostrils, announcing that my father was awake and would be presently at the breakfast table with my mother. I swallowed hard before I and Jess summoned the courage to make our way through the hallway that led to the dining room. Arriving there, I sighted my father and mother, sat like enemies. My mother was scrolling through her cellphone while my fathers eyes were on the television. I summoned courage. “Papa!” I said, my eyes forming into a fake smile. I walked toward him and hugged him tightly. He laughed, a laughter that could easily be turned into a growl if a pinch of fuel falls into its pits. “Il mio bambino (my baby)” my father said, his eyes clearly showing how excited he was to see me. “Buongiorno papà, come è stata la tua notte? (Good morning papa, how was your night?)” I said, I could feel my mothers gaze on me. “È stata perfetta, tesoro mio. Come è andata la riunione? (It was perfect my darling. How did the meeting go?)” He asked, his eyes acknowledging Jess who was seated with my mom, I could hear her utter a little greeting to my dad. “The meeting was fine papa.” I said. I pecked his cheeks. I then made my way to my mother, who I hugged. “Good morning mama. How was your night?” I asked, she smiled, cupped my cheeks. “It was fine.” She kissed me. I sat next to my mum. From her body language, I understood she could tell I wasn’t fine. “Laura, a che ora hai intenzione di andare a fare shopping per gli anelli con Levi? Sai, il tuo matrimonio è tra una settimana. (What time do you plan on going ring shopping with Levi? Your wedding is in a week you know.)” The excitement in my fathers voice could be heard from a mile away, he was so excited for this wedding, oh sorry I mean this business deal. “Papa, I’ll have to call Levi to confirm.” I replied back in English which earned me a scolding from my dad. He doesn’t like me communicating with him in English. I apologized. The room remained silent and we ate calmly, the only sound that could be heard was that of the cutleries and the television which was showing the news. While eating my phone began to ring, I glanced at the ID and noticed that it was Levi. Anger immediately surged through me, I disliked hearing his voice, especially in the mornings. I ignored the call and continued eating, I even went ahead and put my phone on do not disturb. Just then, my fathers phone also began to ring. “Ah Levi.” My father uttered, a smile on his face. He immediately picked the call up and put it on higher speaker. “Hello my son,” my father said. “What is this news I’m hearing about Laura being with Mr. Rossi.” My heart instantly skipped a beat at the mention of the name “Rossi”. “Mr. Rossi, Matteo Rossi?” My father asked. I instantly felt Jess’s assuring arm on my lap and my mothers eyes questioning me. “Yes. Are they together?” Levi asked. “What do you mean Levi? My daughter does not know him.” My father said boldly. “It seems you haven’t been watching the television, tune in to channel 333, the news is there.” My fathers eyes demanded answers from me as he picked up the television remote, he tuned in to the channel and a clear picture showing Mr. Rossi kissing me on the lips was on the news with the subheading “It seems a wedding is around the Corner.” I gulped. My father tossed his phone on the wall. “Laura, what is this?” His voice, harshly, asked. “It was a mistake, I was drunk. I promise…” I felt a very strong hit on my forehead, my father had thrown his empty cup of coffee at me. The hit was very hard, I could hardly see and felt myself slipping into oblivion, darkness engulfing my senses. My body became numb and I could hear the voices or Jess, and my mother screaming my name in agony.
