“TONIGHT, WE ARE OFFERING YOU this young girl as we wanted you to cleanse her body and soul and take her to your path of purity and truth.” Romina was trying to free herself up the moment Ka Dionisio raised his dagger and pointed it at her, attempting to stab her. “We are offering this young girl, Maupet, and take her to your path of purity and truth!” “No!” she shrieked. “NO! PLEASE LET ME GO!” I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die like this! “DON’T YOU f*****g TOUCH HER!” Ka Dionisio abruptly stopped and Romina could feel the ground rumbling. She immediately looked at Luciel who’s now slowly trying to transform into his demon form. “No…” she muttered. This is not just his usual demon form. She saw how Luciel’s skin transformed into a reddish one and his wings started to pop up, but his wings are not wings that she usually sees. These wings looked like the ones from bats and his fangs started to grow huge as well as his horns. Terrifying. He looked so terrifying that Romina could feel her tears rolling down her cheeks while looking at him. “Romina…” with his terrifying, deep, and hoarse voice, he called her but Romina closed her eyes tight and looked away. She looked away not because she was scared of him. No, that’s not the case. He may look terrifying on his actual demon form but that doesn’t change the fact that Luciel is her guardian. She looked away because she looked so hopeless and useless that she couldn’t protect Luciel when he badly needed help and protection. “How dare you interrupt our cleansing ceremony, you demon?” Ka Dionisio said, obviously mad at what Luciel did. Coughing, Luciel spoke. “Cleansing ceremony? More like you’re trying to murder someone for a blood sacrifice.” “Insolence!” “f**k you. Let Romina go, you motherfucker!” Suddenly, Romina felt herself losing consciousness. Everything was dark and numb around her. She couldn’t feel anything. “Romina! No!” She could hear him. She could hear Luciel calling her name but she couldn’t do anything. She couldn’t do anything for him. Everything was cold, dark, and numb around him. She could feel herself dying. “Please… if I am going to die here, please save Luciel. Don’t let them hurt him. He’s not bad and he will never be. Please save him.” Suddenly, she saw a light approaching her and from the dark spot where she was lying down, she slowly sat up to face the said light. “Romina…” the light called her. “Romina, can you hear me?” “Who… who are you?” The light formed into a human being and kneeled in front of her. “I want to save Luciel and the people.” Eyes widen, Romina spoke. “You-You are…?” “I am a part of you, Romina. But I couldn’t do what I wanted to do in order to save them because I don’t have your permission.” “M-My permission?” “Will you grant me a favor if I’m going to ask one, Romina?” “W-What favor is it?” The Celestial being in front of Romina outstretched its hand and cupped Romina’s cheek. “Please lend me your strength, Romina. Please lend me your strength to save them and to save Luciel.” “Who are you?” Romina asked. “May I know your name before I’ll lend you my strength?” The Celestial being smiled at her and responded. “My name is Serenity.” Romina gasped the moment she opened her eyes. She felt gazes around her and she realized that she was already inside her room with Simeon and Luciel sitting beside her and beside her bed. “Oh, she’s awake now,” she heard Simeon say. “Yes, I can see that, Simeon.” Romina turned her head and saw Simeon smiling at her then at Luciel who’s sitting beside her with bandages on. Luciel. Luciel… he’s alive. He’s alive. She saved him. We saved him! She immediately sat up and immediately felt herself getting dizzy that Luciel even need to hold her so she could maintain her sitting position. “You dumbass, don’t sit so sudden like that. You still feel hazy from sleeping so long.” “Luciel!” with her tears pooling in her eyes, Romina immediately hugged Luciel. “Thank goodness you are safe!” “Yeah, I am,” she heard Luciel responding. “I am glad,” sobbing on his shoulder, Romina carefully and gently hugged Luciel tight. “I’m glad you are safe.” I really thought I might lose you. “Yeah, I am,” gently holding the back of her head, Luciel whispered. “I’m okay now so don’t cry now.” “I can’t help it,” she sobbed. I was so scared that I might lose you. “I was so scared that anything bad might happen to you the moment I lose my consciousness that moment. I was so angry at that fake pastor because he hurt you and I couldn’t do anything about it.” “I am still alive and fine so you don’t need to be scared anymore. Remember, I am your guardian and I am stronger, stronger than any demons such as the demon we encountered earlier so you don’t need to be so worried.” “I’ll protect you this time, Luciel. I won’t let anyone hurt you this time.” “I won’t let you have your ways on Luciel or anyone else around this place. I won’t let you hurt them.” Romina slightly frowned when a bit of memory flashed inside her mind and she could hear her own voice mixed with another. It’s her voice. I really could tell that it was her voice. “You’re so full of yourself. Haah,” she sighed but of course, she’s glad that Luciel was fine and alive. “I am not.” Romina slightly looked at Luciel and sighed. She didn’t bother to let go of him from the hug and she just stayed there, leaning on his shoulder. Luciel tucked her stray hair behind her ear before kissing her forehead in assurance as he hugged her as if he was assuring and securing her. Simeon was just staring at the two of them in silence. Muttering the words to himself which Romina didn’t bother to hear. “Are you scared, Romina?” “I’m scared,” she held him tight. “I’m scared that I might lose you.” Luciel stayed silent and just held Romina as gentle and as securely as he could. “You are safe and alive. That’s all that matters.”
