CHAPTER 46: White Feather

796 Words
“THIS IS WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT HUMANS. Just by way of this thing named love, y’all turn bad and evil,” Luciel pronounced and look at Mang Melchor. “What your boy felt and shown is not love. Just upright obsession. The fixation that provoked him to ruin both of your lives. That’s not what love is. Love makes you stronger in the chances that you’re weak. Love gives you warmth when you felt cold. Love makes you feel ensured when you sensed vulnerability. Love makes you feel free. That’s by virtue of what… astonishing love is. You don’t need so much power nor so much wealth or you don’t have to spend lavishly just to show to the one you appreciate how much you love them. It just felt so serene and warm when there’s love. You can feel love, not for other being but also love for yourself. These are the things that your son failed to realize… and you failed to let him feel also. The obsession ruined the love inside your son’s courage that he ruined the both of you… and even himself.” “I appreciate your feelings for me, Miguelito but I couldn’t accept it. Having a romantic relationship… it’s not in my mind as of this moment. But, we could be friends. I like being friends with you.” “I did everything to be with you. Why can’t you love me?” Caroline felt weak in Luciel’s hold that she couldn’t help but cry. Mang Melchor cried louder than earlier. “I’m so remorseful that I didn’t save you that I took away your life and dream and you suffered because of us… I’m sorry, Caroline.” After Luciel and Simeon transformed into their human forms, they stood side by side with Romina as they watched Mang Melchor being escorted to the police car. After what happened and the conversation they had earlier, Mang Melchor voluntarily surrendered himself to the police and told them everything that connected to Caroline Singson’s murder case. As for Miguelito, since he’s still a minor, he was taken to the juvenile and the DSWD will be the one to assist and take care of him while he’s in the juvenile and in the rehabilitation center as well. They also learned that Mang Melchor is a single parent since his wife left her and he didn’t have any connection with her anymore. Romina was happy because Caroline finally got the justice she deserved but she’ll not going to lie that the situation she witnessed right now made her sad. Just because of too much love Miguelito had for Caroline, they just ended up like this. “Romina…” Romina turned her head to Caroline. She looked so pretty and youthful unlike her past appearance when she met the three of them. “Caroline…” Romina called her. “I don’t hate them,” Caroline told her. “I may be mad because of what they did to me but I don’t hate them. I forgive them.” Romina managed to smile while looking at her. Caroline responded to her smile. “Thank you… for saving me.” “You’re always welcome, Caroline.” Caroline smiled at the three of them and waved. She looked at the angel beside her and walked with him towards the light and fade. Romina waved at her until she faded out of her sight. She sighed in relief and satisfaction. Carrying Romina in his arms, Luciel entered her room through her window. He gently put her down and he went inside her room as well. “I am happy that Caroline finally passed the afterlife,” Romina said as she sat on her bed. “It’s quite satisfying that we helped another lost soul again.” Luciel looked at her. “Are you really that happy? You almost got yourself killed, you know? If I didn’t arrive on time then that old man already dispatched you.” “I know… I almost got myself in total danger,” Romina said then she smiled. “But I wasn’t afraid, because I know you’ll come to save me. You’re my guardian angel… and you always proved that to me.” Luciel shook his head. “You’re so weird, human.” Romina watched him flap his wings to hide those in his back but she noticed a white feather from his wings and it landed on her palm. She looked at him once again then at the white feather. “White feather…?” How come he had a white feather? She couldn’t help but ask herself. This is not Simeon’s because I saw this feather was attached to one of Luciel’s wings… So, how come he had a white feather?
