Chapter 1: Surviving Disaster, Stranded on a Deserted Island
Joan had a dream—she was drifting in the ocean, carried along by the waves until she finally brushed against soft sand.
Then she tried hard to open her eyes... huh?
She closed them again. She had to be dreaming. Otherwise, why would there be a soaking wet, drop-dead handsome guy standing in front of her?
But in the next second, she heard him speak, and a pair of hands started slapping lightly at her cheeks.
"Hey, wake up. Joan?"
This time, Joan really woke up—because… her face hurt.
This wasn't a dream?
Joan opened her eyes and struggled to sit up. Then... she looked down at the roll of fat around her stomach—and fell silent.
This wasn’t her body. There was no way she could've gained this much weight overnight. What was going on?
"Good, you're awake. Come with me. Let's look for others. There's a good chance someone else also made it to this island."
Island?
Joan caught the key word. She looked up at the soaking wet handsome guy. "You know me?"
Expressionless, he replied, "Before the plane crashed, you asked me how much I charge for the night. What do you think?"
Joan: "..."
She was speechless.
Then she saw the man turn to leave. With no idea what was going on, she could only follow behind him for now.
Not long after, a wave of memories surged through her mind—memories of the body’s original owner. Joan finally understood that the man in front of her was Li Taizen, one of the most famous members of a seven-man idol group in the Chinese entertainment world.
And the woman she had become—also named Joan—was a 24-year-old, extremely wealthy heiress who was much chubbier than her original self. She was absolutely obsessed with this boy band and had followed them on their overseas trip, ending up on the same flight.
What she never expected was a plane crash over the Pacific... and now, here she was, in this body.
Just as she pieced everything together, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in her head:
"Ding! Congratulations, Host, you have successfully bound to the system. Complete tasks to accumulate one million points and return to your original body—along with a ten-billion-dollar reward!"
Joan’s eyelid twitched, but she wasn’t panicked. She’d read her fair share of webnovels—she had some idea what this “system” thing was about.
Despite her surprise, the thought of being able to return to her body cleared her head immediately.
"What kind of tasks do I have to complete?"
"It’s simple. Survive on the island. The more people you help survive, the more points you’ll earn. The better their physical condition, the more points you’ll receive. Points are tallied daily at 8 p.m."
"In addition, completing wilderness survival achievements will earn bonus points. Points can be used to buy items from the system shop. The host can explore the rest gradually."
Joan roughly understood. It was a wilderness survival system. And as a seasoned survivalist, staying alive wasn't a big challenge for her.
The only catch was—she had to help others survive too.
She looked down at her chubby new body. Well… maybe she needed help as well.
Fine. They’d help each other survive, rack up points, and go home.
There were quite a few passengers on the plane, but she didn’t know how many had made it to the island alive.
At the moment, the only people she recognized from the flight were the members of the idol group. It would be great if she could find all seven of them.
Not like she was trying to summon Shenron or anything—but when people knew each other, they were more likely to work together, and there’d be fewer conflicts from distrust.
With that in mind, Joan quickened her pace to catch up to Li Taizen. “The sun’s going down. It’ll probably get cold at night on the island. We should find shelter soon to get through the night.”
Li Taizen frowned. “You mean… we’re not looking for other survivors?”
“To save others, we have to first make sure we’re safe.”
Joan answered calmly, “It’s almost dark. Looking for people now probably won’t yield results. We’d be better off keeping ourselves in good shape, so we can be more effective tomorrow.”
Li Taizen was prejudiced against her—after all, she was the wealthy woman who’d once tried to “sponsor” him, and she wasn’t exactly easy on the eyes in her current form.
So he didn’t take her words to heart. His tone stayed cold: “I’m only bringing you along out of basic decency. If you want to go your own way, be my guest. But I’m not giving up on finding the others.”
Joan understood what he meant—he thought she was cold and selfish, unwilling to help anyone but herself.
She didn’t bother explaining. Working together was ideal, but if he was going to keep resenting her, he’d only drag her down.
So she nodded without hesitation. “Alright then. Goodbye.”
Li Taizen: “...”
Apparently not the reaction he expected. His face darkened.
He stared at her for a few seconds, but her calm expression gave nothing away. Finally, he just said coldly, “Whatever,” and walked off.
Joan didn’t react. She needed to act fast before night fully fell.
She had already checked herself over—she didn’t have any useful tools. But after speaking to the system, she learned that she had been given a small amount of starter points. Only one hundred, but it was enough to exchange for a simple knife from the system shop.
On second thought, it was good she wasn’t with Li Taizen. Otherwise, how would she explain where the knife came from? You couldn’t bring a knife on a plane.
Soon, Joan exchanged her points for a knife. She picked it up and inspected it—it was very sharp. A solid tool.
The system also gifted her a lighter. Not bad at all.
Considering the rainforest likely had venomous snakes and bugs, she chose to set up her temporary shelter at the edge where beach met jungle—not too close to the ocean, but not deep into the forest either.
Luckily, she hadn’t gone far before she spotted a huge boulder in a perfect location. Joan decided this would be her spot. After checking the surroundings and finding nothing dangerous, she headed toward the forest edge and used her knife to gather large leaves and branches.
Being alone had its perks—she didn’t need a large shelter. Just enough space to lie down and stay out of the wind.
Though her new body was weak, these tasks didn’t require much strength. As an expert in wilderness survival, she was quick and efficient.
Before the sun completely dipped below the horizon, Joan had finished building her temporary shelter. It wasn’t exactly sturdy, but as long as there wasn’t a massive storm, it would hold up for a few days.
Watching the last sliver of sun hanging above the ocean line, Joan moved quickly to a coconut tree she’d spotted earlier.
She estimated the height… yeah, no way her current chubby body could climb that.
So she went with plan B—using her body to ram the tree, hoping to knock a few coconuts down. The tree barely budged, but she gave it her best effort.
As she kept ramming the tree with all her might, the coconuts stubbornly stayed put—but suddenly, a voice came from behind her.
“What are you doing?”
