Roman dropped one attacker before he reached cover and Crow tackled another into a stone column. Torch threw a flash grenade through the rear hallway while laughing like a lunatic.
The blast echoed through the church and within minutes the remaining attackers began retreating.
Some escaped through broken windows while others never made it that far. The gunfire slowly faded.
Smoke drifted through shafts of afternoon sunlight and I lowered my pistol.
