The executive floor of Cole Enterprises buzzed with its usual morning rhythm.nPhones rang, printers hummed, employees hurried between offices with files tucked beneath their arms.
Natalie sat at her desk outside Damien's office, reviewing his schedule for the day. She had just finished responding to a series of emails when the elevator doors slid open.
A woman stepped out, drawing the attention of several employees.
"Welcome back!"
"It's good to have you back, Samantha!"
"Congratulations again!"
Warm smiles spread across the floor as people greeted her. Samantha Reed smiled graciously at each person who stopped to congratulate her. "Thank you."
"It's good to be back."
"I have to admit, my husband was beginning to think I enjoyed being home a little too much."
