The next few days flew by in a blur, and now it is the day before the party. Everything is done, all invites are sent out, and everything is planned. Now we must wait, and that's the hard part.
I can't believe I will meet my wolf tonight. This is so crazy. I thought to myself. Tonight, at midnight, I will get my wolf and will be able to sense my mate. Then, after my party, I will shift for the first time.
We had decided that today would be a lazy day, and we would hang out at home. I got out of bed and went downstairs; Mom, dad, my sister Yogi and my two best friends, Ashley and Kota, were talking in the kitchen. I walked in and sat down next to Ashley, as they were all talking about tonight and how I would meet my wolf.
“So, what did I miss?” I asked as I grabbed a plate and got my food.
“Nothing much; just talking to the girls about you getting your wolf tonight and what they went through” mom said as she got up to get more coffee. “Well, I want to know.” I said
“ It will start as a small headache and slowly worsen,” Dad said as he sipped his coffee.
“Then, it will stop after a few hours, and she can start talking to your wolf in your mind. She will know everything you know and feel what you feel.” Yogi said in between bits.
“She will have all your memories also,” we heard from the doorway. We all turned to see Uncle Tim and Aunt Emily walking in. We all ran up, gave them a big hug, and started kissing Aunt Emily's belly. She is four months pregnant with their first pup. She is due in a month, and we can't wait. When a werewolf is pregnant, they only carry for five months. Since we grow so fast, we are not pregnant as long.
Uncle Tim is the Gamma of our pack and my mother’s brother. He met Aunt Emily at a party in another pack, and she moved here a year ago.
“What are y'all doing here?” Dad asked, “Come and get some coffee and sit with us,” mom said as she helped Aunt Emily sit down. “No coffee for me, thanks; this baby moves enough,” she said, laughing “we just came by to visit before the big day. We heard there was a lazy day going on here and thought we would join,” Uncle Tim said as he took the coffee from mom.
“ We plan on watching movies and sitting around all day,” I said. I got up to put my plate in the sink and get another glass of milk. “ Do you want some OJ, Aunt Emily?” I asked while I was at the fridge, “yes, please, that would be great '' I knew she would like it since she couldn’t seem to get enough of it right now. I sat back down and handed Aunt Emily her glass. We all sat and talked a little longer. Then Ashley, Kota, Yogi, and I went to the living room to watch Avatar.
Uncle Tim and Aunt Emily left at about 10:00 pm, and at about 11:30 pm, I went to my room to shower. I started getting a headache around the time they left, and it was growing worse now, so a shower might help. But I was wrong. When I got out and dressed, I lay in bed and then remembered what mom, dad, and Yogi had said about when your wolf is pushing through. As I lay there, mom knocked on my door. “Come in,” I said, cuddled under my blankets.
“How are you doing, Hun?” she asked.
“It hurts so bad right now. I wish it would stop.”
“I know, honey. You have about 5 minutes till midnight? It should not take that much longer”.
“I hope not. I do not know how much more I can take. It started when Uncle Tim and Aunt Emily left”.
“Then it should stop soon. ”. She kissed my forehead and left the room. I just laid there in the quiet for a while.
I do not know how long I lay there, but it felt like hours. Then, out of nowhere, the pain stopped, and I fell asleep.
I woke up, and it was the day of our party. I have so much to do.
I walked over to my dresser and saw my list for today…
Help set up tables.
Get your hair done.
Get your nails done.
Get in your dress.
Head to the party by 8:30 pm
PARTY ALL NIGHT!
First Shift @ midnight
“Hello, Maggie,” I heard and started looking around, then remembered what day it was.
“Hello”, I said, “you must be my wolf.”
“Yes, my name is Rose.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“It is extremely nice to talk to you after all these years. I have been living with you without being able to talk to you. It was hard”, she said as she laughed.
“I have been waiting to talk to you too. It is nice to have someone who understands what I am going through besides Ashley and Kota”.
“Now you have me as well, but we have a lot to do today. You better hurry. We have the rest of our lives to get to know each other better. Just know you are so special and unique”.
“Oh yeah, the party,” I said.
So much to do, but now it's time to get dressed and head out, so I grab a light pink tank out of my dresser and a pair of blue jeans and throw them on. As I am putting on
my tennis phone rings. I reached over and grabbed my phone off my nightstand.
“Hello”, I said.
“Hey, when will you be here? Kota and I are waiting "
” OK, I am heading your way now,” I say as I grab my purse and walked downstairs.
“Hey, mom, can I use the car to get Ash and Kota?”
“Yeah, just be careful,” she said as she tossed me the keys.
“OK, I will love you later,” as I ran out the door.
I get in the car and turn the music up. I am on my way to pick up Ashley and Kota. When something runs right in front of my car. I hit my brakes to miss it, but it did not work. I clipped the hind end of a large black wolf. When I stopped all the way, I jumped out of the car, but there was nothing there. I looked all around and then at the front of the vehicle, but nothing was there. Was my mind playing tricks on me? I don't know. So I got back in the car and finished driving to the library. “Did you see that?” I asked Rose.
“Yes, but I did not sense any danger or another wolf around; it was weird.”.
“I don't know what's going on,” we kept driving to Ashley and Koda's.
