Chapter 2

We arrived at school, and I thanked him for the ride and ran inside. As I get to my locker, I see Ashley waiting for me. “You're late; you were supposed to be here early to review our presentation. Now we just have to wing it”. Ashley said with annoyance in her tone.
“I know I was talking to mom and dad since he went on patrol last night, and they found a rogue in our territory.” As I was unlocking my locker, I said, “but it's OK, we have gone over it so much we got this.”
I grabbed my books, and we ran to history and just made it by the bell. As we headed to our seats, we saw Kota waiting for us.
“Where have you all been? You are late. It's a good thing Mr. Owens isn’t here yet.'' Kota told us as we sat down.
“Thank God he is not here. I do not need a tardy,” Ashley said as she put her bag on the floor.
Just then, the teacher walked in.
“OK, everyone, please take your seat and settle down. Now, who wants to do their presentation first?”
Mr. Owen said as he looked around the room.
“No one? OK then, I will draw names”. He walked over to his desk, picked up a little bag, pulled out a piece of paper, and said…
“Maggie and Ashley, your first”.
I looked at Ashley as she pulled her long brown hair up and winked at me.
“Let's do this, girlie.”
We took deep breaths and walked to the front of the class, and all eyes were on us.
We gave our presentation, and it took only ten minutes. The Q&A took about five minutes, but we made it through it. We sat back down and waited for the class to be over. The bell finally rang, and we headed to our next class.
The day went by so slowly, but we made it to lunch. We went and got our trays, and headed to our general seat with our group of friends. As we take our seats, Ashley changes the conversation to my eighteenth birthday party; what they thought my wolf's name would be. Ashley looked at me and asked, “Are you excited about this weekend?”
“Hell, yes, I am. I get my wolf; I hope she likes me,” I said with a chuckle.
“ Girl, you know that isn’t all you are looking forward to,” Kota laughed. “I know I can't wait for my mate.”
“What if you're mated to Blaze? That would be crazy”, Ashley said as she ate her chicken-wrap from Taco Bell. What if I were mated to him? That would be crazy, since I have had a crush on him since we were little. I ate my lunch, and zoned out while the other two were talking about their mates. “I don't know if I would want to be Luna,” I replied out of nowhere. “But just think about it, you could do a lot of good in the pack. That would be so cool”. Kota said with excitement in her voice. “Yeah and you know everyone in the pack” Ashley said with a big smile. “Yeah, but it's not like Blaze will be my mate. You never know he might find his mate before my birthday.” i told them “ yeah he has been looking for almost a year and he has not found her yet, but you never know.” Kodi tells me then starts eating. “ Maybe he is just waiting for you so he can see if you're his mate because he is crushing on you so badly.” Ashley said laughing . I just laughed and went back to eating. “Yeah OK” i said.
We finished lunch and headed to our classes for the day. When the bell rang to dismiss school, I ran out of the building and started home. As I go through the door, I hear someone calling my name, and when I turn around, I see Kota and Ashley heading my way. I laugh a little because Kota is shorter than Ashley at 5 '3, with red curly hair, and Ashley is the tallest of us three at 5 '10, with long brown hair. I am right in the middle at 5’7 with long blond hair. I waved at them as they came running over. “Hey, wait for us,” Kota said as she ran up to me and tried to catch her breath. “So, we need to finish planning this weekend. I hope your dress comes in on time”, Ashley said with a worried look on her face; “it will”, Kota said as we started walking to my house.
We talked as we walked home. When we got there, we went to my room to start planning my party in four days. We had everything picked out but did not have my dress yet, so we were kind of panicked.
Then we heard a knock on the door. My mom yelled,
“Hey, girls, I have a big box down here with your name on it Maggie.
Do I send it back?” she said with a chuckle.
“Noo!” we all yelled as we ran out the door after her.
When we got into the living room, I ran to my box, and started to open it. Mine was a beautiful pink dress with diamonds all over the corset, it was a long and fluffy ball gown;
“Well, go try it on,” Mom said as she sat on the couch with Ashley and Kota smiling at me.
I came out with my dress on; It felt right and matched how I felt. As we sat there talking about what dresses Ashley and Kota were going to wear, and talked about the party. Mom was telling me what to expect when I shifted for the first time. She also told me about talking to our wolves the day of our party before we shift. Since the party was the day of my birthday, we would be shifting at midnight. Our wolves will be seen for the first time. Most of the time, that is a family thing to do together. We had time to get to know our wolves before other people. On the eve before a werewolf's eighteenth birthday, wolves can hear a voice, generally separate, of their own. It's in their head and no one else can hear it. This is their wolf talking to them. Then we started looking for our mates, unaware of what was to be revealed later.
