The Alpha’s Broken Mate

Meeting

    When my alarm went off in the morning, and I growled, hitting the snooze. My meeting wasn't until 9:00 a.m., which meant I could snooze my alarm until at least 8:30. About fifteen minutes later, my alarm goes off again. I hit the snooze again when I heard my phone go off. Wondering who was texting me this early, I grabbed my phone and snuggled back down. When I opened my phone, I smiled, seeing it was a text from Lena. "Good morning, beautiful. I am heading down to make my parents breakfast and then tell them everything. I miss you *kissy face emoji*." I started to reply, but Rosi barged into my room. "Get up, sleepyhead. We have a meeting with Alpha Kevin, Alpha Stewart, and Alpha Thomas to talk about alliances and the rogue situation they have all been facing. 

    I didn't want to get up, but I knew if I didn't, I would be late. Dragging myself out of bed, I head to the bathroom. I turn the shower on and get the water temp just right, then strip out of my nightclothes. I step under the warm spray letting it hit my back and neck, easing some of the tension I didn't even realize I had. I wash my hair and massage some conditioner into my scalp. While I let the conditioner sit, I lather up my loofah and wash my body. Quickly rinse my body off and then rinse the conditioner out of my hair. After finishing up, I wrap my hair in a towel, dry myself off and put some clothes on. I quickly brush my teeth so I can finish my hair. I decide to leave it natural, so I throw some mousse to keep my curls from getting frizzy and head down to the conference room. 

    Rosi made sure our cooks had breakfast brought to the conference room so the other alpha's and myself could eat. That way, we could eat and get right down to business. I made myself a plate waiting for the other alphas and their betas to be escorted to the conference room. I am just starting to dig into my scrambled eggs when they all walk in. "Hello everyone, and welcome to my home. Rosi, would you show the betas to the dining hall to eat while we eat here?" "Yes, Alpha, link me if you need me."

    "Please help yourselves to any of the food provided. The kitchen made more than enough for everyone here." Once we finished eating and the plates and food were cleared away, we got down to business. Alpha Kevin Jones was the first to speak up. "Kira, I've been talking with my father and the elders in our pack, and we all think that an alliance between our packs would be mutually beneficial. Since our pack borders are close to each other, we could be here fairly quickly to assist and aid you should you need it and vice versa. Our warriors are fierce but would definitely benefit from training with your warriors. With the current rogue situation getting worse, we need the aid your pack can provide.  Attacks have increased over the last month, and we thankfully haven't lost anyone yet, but I fear it is only a matter of time."

    As Kevin finished speaking, my phone buzzed. I quickly looked down and saw that it was from Lena. I was going to check it after my meeting, but then I remembered she was supposed to tell her parents this morning. "Gentlemen, please give me one moment. I need to check this message I just received." I opened my phone and immediately opened her text. "Baby, are you busy? Can you talk?" That didn't give me much to go on, whether everything went really well or really bad. "Hey babycakes, I am in a meeting right now. It will probably be about an hour but no more than an hour and a half. Can I call you then? Are you ok?" "I'm fine, but I told my parents this morning, and I wanted to tell you how it went." That didn't sound like it went horrible, so I decided to finish my meeting and then call her. "Ok, baby, I will call you when I am done. I miss you XOXO *kissy face emoji*." "I miss you too, love XOXO *heart emoji*." I look up at the other alphas. "Let's continue, gentleman." 

    Alpha Stewart Miller spoke up next, and his story was similar to Kevin's, except he had lost a few pack members to the rogues as they were taken by surprise before they could even defend themselves. I listened intently as he explained how the rogue attacks were becoming more frequent, and none of them could figure out why. Alpha Thomas Williams had it the worst out of the three. He had lost about 25 pack members. His pack wasn't big, to begin with, and his pack members were becoming afraid to do anything. "Gentlemen, I will have my father and the elders look over the terms in all of your proposals. If everything looks good, we can seal the alliances and starting training your warriors immediately." 

    I linked my father and asked him to come to the conference room and grab the documents from me. While I waited for him to arrive, I said, "Since my father and the elders will need some time to review the paperwork, how about I show you and your betas around?" They all agreed, so I linked Rosi and asked her to bring all the betas up to the conference room. My father arrived first. I handed him the papers, and he said, "I am going to take these to my office and look over them with the elders. I will link you when we are done." I nodded, and he turned to leave just as Rosi was coming in with the betas. He gave her a big smile as he left.

    "If you will follow us, we'll show you around and show you some of our favorite spots." We walked downstairs through the common area headed outside. "As you guys know, the Catskill Mountains have some beautiful lands and forests and ranges around here. We were lucky enough that part of Lake Minnewaska was located inside our borders, along with two waterfalls. It's particularly popular in the summer cause everyone likes to go down to the lake to cool off." As we get closer to the beach, I can hear people laughing and having a good time. People are greeting us and waving as we walk along. 

    I start heading in the direction of the waterfall when I suddenly see Alpha Thomas and his Beta Oscar stop. They both begin sniffing the air, and I already know what that means, they have caught their mate's scent, and they are somewhere in this large crowd of people. They both move slowly through the crowd, following the scent while I observe to see if anyone else is doing the same thing. After about a minute, I find them and laugh out loud while I watch the men close in on them. Rosi finally sees them and starts laughing harder than me. The guys finally stop in front of Emilie and Nadia. They are the former gamma's twin daughters and the oldest of their four kids. 

    From the looks of it, Nadia is Alpha Thomas' mate, and Emilie is Oscars. It really is fitting that the girls ended up with mates that are from the same pack. Since birth, they have been inseparable, and I don't think they could bear to be away from each other. The moon goddess knew what she was doing, mating those four together. Nadia will make a great Luna, and Emilie will be a fantastic beta. Nadia and Emilie are both strong, and they are two of my elite female warriors. I guess this makes the alliance with Silver Shadow Pack much easier. I link my dad, letting him know what happened and that we will ally with his pack regardless. I am a little worried, though, since his pack has lost the most pack members due to the rogue attacks. I had already planned to make his pack my priority first, but now we will need to get things locked down and help them with this. 

    The girls come running over and hug me as they both start talking at the same time. "OMG, Kita, we found our mates! We were always worried that our mates would be in different packs, but the moon goddess knew it would kill us to be apart. We always wondered if one of us would have to reject our mate so we could stay together but now don't have to." The girls just kept chattering away, and I couldn't get a word in edge-wise. The guys were utterly enamored, so they were no help at all. Finally, I had to use my alpha voice to get them to calm down enough for me to speak, "GIRLS!" They both looked at me sheepishly but stopped talking. "I am so very happy for you both. Why don't we all head back to the packhouse, and you guys can tell your parents and get better acquainted." Everyone nodded as we started to make our way back to the packhouse.

    When we reach the packhouse, Margherita and Raul are waiting for the twins and their mates. As we walk into the house, Alpha Stewart rushes past me, grabs Simone, the twin's younger sister, and kisses her before anyone can say anything. Everyone looks stunned for a moment before we hear Alpha Stewart and Simone both mutter mate simultaneously. Simone's parents rush over and hug their other daughter and share Alpha Stewart's hand while all three sisters hug and cry tears of joy at having found their mates. 

    I see their brother Max standing in the background. I can tell he is happy for his sisters, but his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes. I had already chosen Rosi as my Beta, and she accepted, knowing that her mate might reject her because she told e she would never give up her position in the pack. Simone had been filling in as my temporary gamma since she hadn't found her mate yet, and we still weren't sure if her mate was in our pack. We have over a thousand pack members, so we knew she hadn't met everyone yet. So if her mate was in the pack, I was going to keep her as my gamma. Now that she found her mate and would be leaving, I got Max's attention and waved him over. 

    He walked over slowly and smiled. "Hi, Alpha. How are you?" "I'm good, Max. I wanted to talk to you." He looked a little worried, and I chuckled. "Max, it's nothing bad. You know Simone was the acting gamma because she hadn't found her mate yet, right?" Max just shook his head yes but didn't say anything. "Well, since all three girls will be leaving, I wanted to ask you if you would be my gamma?" Max looked stunned. He was actually speechless, which I thought was cute and funny. He was an elite warrior and would fit well as my gamma. "Max, do you want the position?" He finally found his voice. "YES! YES! YES! I would love to be your gamma!" His parents came over and congratulated him and thanked me for giving him the opportunity. 

    "Gentlemen, I know you all want to spend some time with your mates, but we have some business to finish. Why don't we go finish that, and then you guys can spend the rest of the day with your mates." All the newly mated couples kissed for a minute or so before the men pried themselves reluctantly away from their mates. When we reached the conference room, my dad and the elders were waiting for us. They all offered their congratulations on some of the men finding their mates and then got right down to business. My father spoke up first, "After reviewing all the information inside the alliance contracts drawn up by your respective packs elders, I see no issue with entering alliances with all three packs. Also, seeing how your new mates are part of our pack it will just solidify the alliances even further." 

    My father passed back the contracts already signed by the elders and now just required my signature. Once signed, my father made copies and gave the originals back to the other alpha's. "Alpha Thomas, since you have sustained the most losses, we will make your pack our first priority. I will send 3 of my trainers to your pack to start training your warriors immediately. Also, one of my trainers is a computer genius, and he will help you update and upgrade your security system. Also, both your mate and her sister are elite warriors and will be able to help train your warriors and ALL your pack members with essential skills to defend themselves. All pack members should have this basic knowledge. 

   "Alpha Kevin and Alpha Stewart, I will send two trainers to each of your packs to start your training immediately. Once my computer guy is finished with Alpha Thomas, I will have him come and check out your security system and see what he can do to help make it better. " They all need to be upgraded. I am going to insist on the same security system we have. It's expensive but worth it. If you need help, I m willing to help with that as well. My company is doing very well, so it's no trouble at all.

    After all the other alpha's thanked the elders and me, everyone wandered off to get to know their new mates. The ones that hadn't found their mates asked if they could meet some of my elite warriors and start talking about training. My dad offered to show them to the training grounds to meet some of my warriors. I realized it had been about two hours which was longer than I initially told Lena. I texted Lena while I made my way up to my office. "Hey, love, sorry I am a little later than I anticipated. I am heading to my office now so we can facetime in private." It didn't take long for her to reply. "It's ok, baby. I figured it ran over. Just call me when you get settled." I smiled as I reached my office. I pulled out my MacBook and put Lena's info in, and hit send, praying to the moon goddess that it went well with her parents today.
