“And last, but certainly not least, let’s welcome to the team linebacker Brendan Fletcher!” the Mustangs’ head coach said concluding his introductions of new players at the team’s meeting to kick off informal spring training for the upcoming season.
Brendan, who was seated next to Adam, stood and acknowledged the applause from his new teammates.
Adam was relieved Brendan was being accepted so well. But why shouldn’t he be? Adam thought. He was a Pro Bowler, Super Bowl ring wearing player and would be an asset to any team. Adam knew his uneasiness was due to the secret that he and Brendan had: they were a couple, a closeted gay couple who played for the NFL.
