It was late July. Training camp would officially begin in a week. Adam and Brendan had taken two weeks at the end of the informal spring and beginning of summer workouts to sneak off to the ranch. It had been wonderful for Adam to be back where he felt he could be himself, without fear or worry of exposure. They had made the most of their time in Texas, making love frequently, visiting the lake, swimming, riding and just relaxing. As the day of their departure came closer Adam felt a deep depression come over him. He wasn’t sure how he would face going back to the life of hiding and paranoia.
