We All Think In Different Ways

750 Words
Kevin's POV The silence that followed us into the forest killed me, when you’re used to running a large pack with screaming kids, silence doesn’t exist. “Why did you run?” I questioned breaking the peace forcing her to talk to me. She waited a few moments before even considering to answer. She felt so light in my arms, I wanted to keep her there. Her breathing was consistent, she breathed in and out so softly that you could almost miss it.  “I told you, I don’t like being told what I can and can’t do.” She pointed out after a while.  “So let me get this right. You broke a window, jumped out of a three-story level, and ran away. All because you don’t like being told what to do. You’ve injured yourself all to prove that point.”  “Of course, what else is there to do?” She questioned.             "I don't know, behave? Read a book, my love?" I suggested. Even though I didn't look down, I knew she rolled her eyes at me.              "Me behave? Please, you're better at having a baby do that."            "Read a book?" I questioned.            "You didn't show me the library." “What am I going to do with you?” I muttered. “You could always let me go?” She suggested earning a glare and growl from myself. “What?” “You could always eat her.” Nate suggested foolishly.  “Why would I want to do that?” Nate suggested from the side of us. For a couple of people who hate each other, they sure do stand close to each other. Multiple guards were in front and behind, as you could tell, he didn’t really work with them.  “You wouldn’t want to, that’s the point. You would only get fruits and vegetables from her.” I watched as Evangeline as she reached out to shove Nate throwing him off balance into one of my warriors. Nate quickly made his way back to Evangeline as my warrior sent a nasty glare toward him. “I’m lost.” I declared. “Don’t listen to this, galaraider. He just doesn’t agree with my lifestyle.” “Galaraider?” “Stop judging me, Nate! Yes, I’m a vegetarian. Get over it.” I was the one to bring both of them back to the matter at hand. I had a feeling I would be doing that quite often. “You’re not leaving. You already agreed to stop running.” I spoke out trying to bring them back to the topic they should have been on, to begin with.  “No, I didn’t.” She argued causing me to rethink everything up to this point.  “Yes, you did back at that brainwashed classroom,” I stated. “No.” She started but before I could cut in she ways already talking, “I said I would come with you this one time without fighting if, you told us mermaids were alive or not. I never said anything about not running anymore. You should really use your words more wisely.”  I listened and I had to agree, but I wasn’t going to let her know that. I looked ahead at his eyes that balkedped for support but got nothing.  “I’m sorry, Alpha. Luna is right, she never said she would stop completely.”  “I finally like you now!” Evangeline shouted out of nowhere making only a few laughs. “You all need some happiness in your lives.”  “You can’t run.”  “I can try.” She spoke with a smirk that should have been on my face instead. “You won’t get far.” I threatened.  “Watch me.”  “I’m watching,” I added finally having a chance to wear a smirk. “Fine, wait until after my leg heals.” With that, we made our way into the packhouse and to the doctors. She got silent as she got lost in thought; no doubt thinking that one day it was just a matter of time before she had freedom. What she didn’t realize is that she didn’t need it, she already had it.
