Secrets Are An Amazing Thing

Vampire King POV I heard the beasts before I was able to see them. There was only one pack out there and it was the Blue Moon. I watched through the trees only to see happiness. There sat a human and Alpha Kevin Taylor. They weren’t yelling and she wasn’t trying to escape but instead, giggles left her.  I was waiting for the tears but I only received a smile.  I noticed a book propped on her lap as she play-shoved at Kevin for something he said or did. Of course with her being human, he didn’t move far.  A human boy appeared with three water cups in hand, he shared a smile as he passed them out.  I second-guessed the war at hand, but that quickly came to an end as soon as beasts rushed out of the packhouse ready. It was like they wanted the war, or as if they were prepared. “Evangeline, the vampires are here.” She had her eyes glued to the book like it was the only thing that mattered. There was something about her that stood out from the rest. “Hold on, I’m on a good chapter.”  “Evangeline, now,” Kevin demanded grabbing the book from her lap handing it to another pack member. The girl, who I came to realize that was named Evangeline, stood up. “Stupid vampires, it was a good page!” She continued to ramble but didn’t care enough to make it clearer.  As we made our way through the woods one at a time. Just as we got to our places, Evangeline stood. She stood at the head of the pack, right next to Kevin. In order for her to stand there and not have an angry pack, meant they were mates. “King Wyatt, what can I do for you?” Kevin questioned as if he didn’t know it yet. The human girl, Evangeline finally looked directly at me. Surprising me but also causing me to daydream.  “Hey Wyatt buddy, come here.” My mom, who looked younger than ever called out. I sighed but sat down the puzzle piece I had in hand onto the coffee table. “Yes, mommy?” I pushed myself onto the coach past both my older and younger brother.  “Look at your baby sister, isn’t she beautiful?” I got closer, putting my baby looking hands onto my mother’s leg before looking down at my only sister.  She had beautiful black hair, and her eyes already had the brightest of blue eyes. She was only a few months old but my mom said her soul was very old. I never understood what that meant. “Mommy, what is her name again?” I asked. No matter how many times I asked, I was never able to remember it. “Evangeline.”  “Could I call her E?” Instead of answering, my mom had me sit down next to her as she placed my sister in my lap. She let out a few cries, letting us know that she wasn’t happy with being moved. At that point, her eyes met with mine, and at that moment I knew I would protect her with all my life. “Evangeline.” I called out, taking steps forward. She backed up unsure of what to do anymore, she was confused but this all started when she was two. She definitely wasn’t comfortable with me knowing something she didn’t. I walked forward but only to be stopped when Kevin met me halfway, refusing to give up my sister. My mom, started to cry, leaving both of our sides lost on what to do.  “Okay, back up. I’m a simple human, meaning both of you guys wouldn’t even know me.” She stated before pausing overthinking like she always did before. “I assume.” “Evangeline, I thought you would have learned by now. Life is never that simple.” Another human pointed out. Kevin, who seems like the only one who knew what was happening, walked over to comfort her.  “You know how I explain this whole vampire kid person.” He paused letting my sister caught up before continuing.  “Yeah, I mean it’s a story that’s hard to forget.”  “Well, it turns out you are the long lost sister of him.” Kevin went on pointing at myself. Evangeline took a moment to figure everything out. “Oh my god.”  “I’m sorry Evangeline, I really didn’t want you to get caught up in all of the supernatural stuff.”  “Well, let’s look at the bright side of things.” Evangeline paused before meeting his eyes. “I can argue that I met both beasts and vampires. I can actually say, you guys aren’t deadly.”   Their side laughed while my side was slightly confused about what was going on. I had a feeling that we were about to find out.  “So what happens now?” Evangeline, being the one to break the silence between the two sides.
