Alexandra
A stupid custody lawsuit.
Now he suddenly had time for kids.
"‘Listen, this won’t happen, okay?" Maryse’s voice sounded distant. All I could think about was what an i***t John was.
"Of course it will happen, that i***t has everyone eating out of his hand, now that he needs to give a perfect image, he looks for his daughter after weeks". My face was a picture of indescribable anger and rage.
John, that bastard.
"Alex, we can do this. Trust me. He might control the whole world, but not me, and definitely not my brother..." My neck nearly snapped from how fast I whipped around to stare at her, shocked by her words.
"Your brother?" I glared at her, "your brother can't see past his own nose." I was upset, and mentioning the i***t Eros upset me more, he wouldn't do anything for me, he used to, but not now.
"Yes, he’ll pull some strings in the army and get what John’s after with Harriet, taking him out of the game entirely. Alex, he has no claim to anything. He doesn’t provide support, and when you divorced, he made it clear that he was giving you full custody because he didn’t have the time. He’s dug his own grave." I shook my head, feeling distracted and unsettled.
"I have to go, your brother is waiting for some documents and I don't want to end up punching him". I took my papers and left her office with a firm step to my desk.
I took everything I needed to give to Eros and knocked on his door.
"Come in" his voice still sent shivers down my spine.
"Colonel, I have the certificates you need to sign…" Of course, he insisted on being called ‘Colonel,’ because ‘Mr. Blake’ was reserved for his father. Typical ego.
"I also wanted to ask you about your dinner with Mr. Basili…" My words trailed off as I looked up from my papers, only to see her—the woman who had yelled at me for not letting her through. And now, there she was."
"Oh, I'm sorry for interrupting, I'll come back another time" I turned around to leave and her crazy voice stopped me.
"No, stop right there, you have something pending with me, and now you'll see..."
I turned to face her and let her realize that her threat meant nothing to me.
"What's going on?" Eros, who hadn't bothered to say a word, finally spoke.
"This woman here—she's the one who wouldn’t let me into your office while you were away. I think she lied just to keep me out. I told her you knew who I was and would let me in without a second thought, but she had the nerve to yell at me and insult me! Can you believe it? And now she’s looking at me like I’m the bad one." Her innocent act could fool anyone—except him, right?
"Is that true, Miss Romanov?"
Of course, he believed her.
I looked at him intently to see if he really thought I was capable of doing it, but of course he did.
"No, but if it seems that way I'll take the blame, may I leave?" I asked firmly.
He nodded, and I left there.
That damned woman, I would have to ask Maryse who she is to be careful with what I say.
Just another day in this crazy office.
