Abbie turned on the outdoor lights and pulled open all of the curtains so she could see the snow fall from wherever she was in the cabin. Big, fluffy flakes fell and had already covered the ground and the tips of the balsam fir branches. From time to time, wind would toss it about like a scene in a snow globe. The TV weather reporter chattered away in the background. The Nor’easter had shifted and was now tracking toward the Adirondacks, changing snowfall projections to as much as two feet. No worries. Abbie had food—all the Christmas trimmings and holiday beverages and treats enough for a week of cabin-bound bliss. If there was one thing Abbie could do, it was plan.
