*What is this feeling?*
*Alarm rings* Rae groans as he stretches on his bed. Slowly opening his eyes, he finds his unwanted guest standing right in front of him. Startled, Rae jumps out of bed in fear.
"Damn! You scared the crap out of me! What are you doing in my room, for f**k's sake?!" he asks, pulling himself together and sitting back on his bed, rubbing his eyes.
"Are you the allegiance? Where's my book?" Ciara asked, her eyes filling with sadness. "The man in the white coat said he would find my book, there's no time - are you the allegiance?" She was obviously agitated and distraught, She dreamed about her family and the events that had taken place, and the dream kept reoccurring, each time breaking her heart a little more. She was desperate to find the allegiance, so she could return to her people and save them. But she wasn't sure if she would ever be able to. She was feeling lost and alone, and she didn't know what to do next.
Ciara's eyes were wide with fear, and Rae could see the panic in her expression. But he was uninterested in what she had to say, still stretching and not paying her any real attention. "You look like you just saw a ghost or something," he said dismissively.
But Ciara was insistent, her desperation evident in her voice. "Please, you have to help me," she begged. "I need to find the allegiance, before it's too late." Ciara was sobbing now, her whole body shaking with grief. "I saw my dead family - they were cold and covered in blood," she managed to get out between her tears. "They were calling for me, but I couldn't save them. I don't know what to do - I need help."
Rae was at a loss, unsure of how to react to her distress. He had never been very good at dealing with emotions, and this was completely out of his comfort zone.
"Please, just sit down," he said, pulling Ciara gently to sit beside him. "I need you to tell me everything that's happened to you," he said, his voice soft and reassuring. "I can't help you if you don't give me something to work with."
Ciara looked into Rae's eyes and this time, something felt different. There was a sense of comfort and trust. She nodded her head, signaling her readiness to talk.
"That's good," he said, his voice calm. "Let's start with something simple. It's been a week since you were discharged from the hospital, and the doctor said you're fine, but why do you still look so pale?
"I'm a werewolf!" Ciara said insistently. "I told you already, but you don't believe me."
Rae gave a small laugh. "A werewolf? I've heard tales about them, but they're as real as the tooth fairy and Santa Claus."
Ciara looked at him with a confused expression on her face. "What's a tooth fairy and a Santa Claus?" she asked, her brow furrowed.
He couldn't help but laugh, and Ciara looked even more confused, not understanding what was so funny. "What? You're serious?" he asked. "Have you been living under a rock? Or maybe those crazy parents you see on TV who lock their kids up and only let them learn about the world through stories and movies?" He paused for a moment, then asked in a softer tone. "Ciara, are you a victim of something like that?"
"I am a werewolf!" Ciara exclaimed, her voice shrill and desperate.
Rae was startled by her sudden outburst. "Alright, alright - no need to get so worked up," he said, holding up his hands in a calming gesture. "You're a ‘werewolf,' right?" he said, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "Prove it - do some magic stuff or something."
"Magic?" Ciara asked, her brow furrowed.
"Yeah," Rae said impatiently. "Do something that proves you're a ‘werewolf.' Anyone can have blue eyes and long silver hair, and maybe you have some kind of skin disease that makes you look so pale.... you see? My speculation is more logical, so prove to me that I’m wrong.. and man this better be good cuz I’m 5mins late for my appointment, and I’m never late!”
"You're saying I could just be a normal person with blue eyes, long hair, and some kind of skin condition?" Ciara asked incredulously. "That's the most logical explanation?" She shook her head. "I'm not going to waste my time trying to prove anything to you," she said firmly. "I know who I am and what I am, and I don't need your validation."
Ciara turned to walk away, but Rae reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "You're not going anywhere!" he snapped. "I've tried to be patient with you, but this is ridiculous! You can't just expect me to accept all of this - it's too much! It's new and confusing!" He was yelling now, his anger palpable. Ciara could feel his grip tightening on her arm, and she struggled to break free. "Let me go!" she yelled, panic rising in her chest.
Ciara's fear and frustration boiled over and she let out a piercing scream. "Let me go!" she yelled. A wave of energy surged through her body, and with a sudden jolt, she shoved Rae against the wall. The force of her power knocked the wind out of him, and he slumped to the floor, dazed. Ciara stood there, breathing heavily, the rush of adrenaline still coursing through her veins.
Rae tried to stand, but his whole body ached from the impact of being thrown against the wall. As he looked up, he saw that Ciara's eyes were glowing a brilliant shade of blue, and she was panting, her breath coming out in growls. He had never seen anything like it before.
"What...what are you?" he stammered, the fear evident in his voice. Ciara said nothing, her eyes locked on him, her expression one of anger and pain.
The blue glow slowly faded from Ciara's eyes as she sat on the edge of the bed, her shoulders shaking with sobs. "I already told you," she said, her voice cracking. "I'm a werewolf, and my people are in danger." She buried her face in her hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. Rae sat there, stunned, trying to process what he had just seen and heard. "You...you're a werewolf?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
“I.. I believe you” Rae stuttered as he got up and sat beside her. “Tell me everything”
Ciara looked up at him, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "I...I don't know where to start," she said, her voice hoarse. "I'm not sure you'll even believe me."
"You just threw me across the room like I was a pin, your eyes were glowing! That already is quite convincing, I'm listening."
And so, Ciara began to tell him her story - about the world of werewolves, about the danger they were in, and about her quest to find the allegiance.
"Let me see if I'm understanding you correctly," Rae said. "You're saying that you need to find the allegiance, a human family that's devoted to the werewolf people. But how can they help you? I mean, they're just humans, right?" He was trying to wrap his head around what she was saying, but it was difficult to believe. “Only they have the passage to Unar, I’ll need them to guide me back home when I’m ready...”. "So it's only after you've unlocked your true powers, and that can only happen when you turn 21," Rae said, the sarcasm dripping from his voice.
"You're saying that there is a family who knows the location of your people and how to get there, and for all these years, humans have searched for you, but no one in the allegiance ever betrayed you. You're sure they're humans, not aliens, right?"
Ciara snapped . "I'm serious, I'm not making this up. I need your help." “Yes they’re humans, this family are nobles, hand picked by the moon goddess, they have no greed or lust like every other petty human, their sworn loyalty is to the Royal family of Unar, they would never go against that oath, and it is passed down from generations to generations and it has always been this way”.
Ciara sighed.
“I can’t find the allegiance if I don’t find my book first...”.
"Hey, relax," Rae said in an attempt to soothe her. "You still have time to figure things out before you face your uncle, there's no need to rush." But Ciara's face turned red with anger. "Are you serious? You just told me to relax when my people are enslaved?" she said, her voice rising. "You have no idea what we've been through!" She stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
"Ugh, I did not sign up for this," Rae muttered under his breath. He stood up to get ready for work, but as he did, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. "Must be from hitting the wall," he thought to himself. But as he stood there, the pain began to spread. It wasn't going away, and it was getting worse. A wave of panic washed over him. Something was definitely wrong.
In her room, Ciara also felt a sharp pain in her chest, so intense that she couldn't help but groan in agony.
Rae heard her groan and rushed to her room, where he found her on the floor. Her eyes were glowing again, and his own heart began to pound in his chest. He quickly lifted her up and laid her on the bed, only to find that his own heart was beating in perfect time with hers.
"What's going on?" Rae asked, more to himself than to anyone in particular. He lay next to Ciara, who was writhing in pain on the bed.
"No... no... not now.." she muttered, her voice full of agony. Suddenly, she sat up straight, she was burning up, her blue eyes blazing, her silver hair growing longer and more unruly by the second.
"No!" she cried out, tears streaming down her face. "This can't be happening!"
