Blurb

Everyone said Warren Kaiser loved his wife, Sabrina Lambert, more than his own life. He had taken a knife for her and even wept for her.

But Sabrina learned the truth when her mother, Patricia Lambert, was deliberately run over and sent to intensive care, and when her brother, Sheldon Lambert, was framed for assault.

The real culprit, Rachel Jewett, was being hidden and pampered by Warren in his suburban villa.

He couldn't bear to hurt Rachel, so he held back for her.

To keep Rachel out of prison, he forced Sabrina to drop her appeal. Patricia then died a miserable death in the hospital; Sheldon was locked up and sentenced.

Warren let Rachel invade their home, causing the loss of their unborn baby, and stood by as she had Sabrina beaten until her bones were shattered.

He planted a sea of roses for Rachel, erasing every trace of the love he once shared with Sabrina.

When others told him he'd gone too far, he just smirked, certain she could never leave him.

Later, Sabrina gave up on him completely. She walked away, leaving nothing but a divorce certificate.

Warren panicked. He searched all of Juniper City, desperate to find her.

When they met again, she held another man's hand. There was no love left in her eyes when she looked at him.

For every hurt he'd caused her, she would pay back double; everything he owned, she would take and destroy piece by piece.

With red-rimmed, desperate eyes, he offered her everything he had, begging for just one glance from her.

But all she wanted was to end things between them—once and for all.

Chapter 1 Don't Push It
The night before the trial, Sabrina Lambert got a call from Trent Isaacs, her property manager. "Mrs. Kaiser, your Hillside Villa up in the hills—it just caught fire," Trent said. "We can't reach Mr. Kaiser. You'll need to come deal with it." Sabrina's heart skipped a beat. 'That's our wedding house—Warren's and mine. How could it burn down?' She fumbled for her other phone to call Warren, then stopped. He'd promised to be with her in court tomorrow—but he'd vanished this morning. 'Is he inside the villa?' Fearing for his safety, she forgot about the trial, grabbed her car keys, and got ready to drive back to the villa. Then a woman's angry voice came through the phone. "So what if it burned?" Rachel Jewett snapped. "You told me I could burn down the whole mountain if it made me happy." Sabrina's head buzzed. 'That's Rachel.' Rachel had run down her mother, Patricia Lambert, and then framed her brother, Sheldon Lambert, for r**e—sending him to prison. Sabrina froze. Her grip on the phone tightened. 'She's supposed to be in prison. Why is she at Hillside Villa—my wedding house?' On the other end, Rachel kept going, her voice loud and unapologetic, dripping with the confidence of someone who knew she was loved. She shouted, "Warren, so what if you got me out of prison? You can drag me back a hundred times—I'll run away a hundred and one. I'm sick of looking at that poker face of yours every single day. I've had it..." "Uh... Mr. Kaiser..." Trent stammered, clearly embarrassed. Then, even more awkwardly, he said to Sabrina, "Mrs. Kaiser, we got ahold of Mr. Kaiser. Everything's fine now." The line went dead. Sabrina's hand trembled. Five years of marriage—everyone said Warren loved her like his own life. When Rachel deliberately hit Patricia and then framed Sheldon, Warren immediately put his top legal team on it. He threw Rachel in jail and swore she'd rot there. But now—right before Patricia's trial—Warren had disappeared. And Rachel, the one responsible for everything, had already been pulled out of jail by Warren. He'd even been keeping her in their wedding house. A sense of dread washed over her. Sabrina drove straight to Hillside Villa. When she got there, she pushed through the crowd and saw Warren—always so cold and untouchable—frowning as he draped his suit jacket over Rachel's shoulders. "Rachel, cut the brat act," he said. "Next time you run, I'll break your legs." Sabrina felt like something heavy had slammed into her chest. She could barely stand. 'That look in his eyes—I know it too well. Even when he tries to act cold and annoyed, I can still see the softness underneath. The care.' Rachel didn't appreciate it. She yanked the jacket off and threw it on the ground. "You think I owe you for getting me out?" she said. "If Patricia hadn't pulled that fake accident, and Sabrina hadn't gone after me like some crazy b***h, would I have had to frame Sheldon for r**e?" The jacket landed in the dirt. Someone stepped on it, ruining it in the mud. Sabrina's heart felt like it was being stomped on, too. 'That jacket—I gave it to him for our third anniversary. He used to treasure it. His old assistant got fired just for touching it.' Warren's face darkened as he looked at the mess. He grabbed Rachel's wrist. "Rachel," he said, his voice low. "Don't push it."
