CHAPTER 7
"I was thinking, since we both have a day off tomorrow. If you wanted to go out of town for the weekend?" I suggested to Nathan.
All week he's been sneaking around again, and all week I've been left alone at home. Though I'd go to Damien's every now and then, but I don't really
feel like being a c**k block to my bestfriend. Especially when he brings over his special kind of friends, if you know what I mean.
So, out of boredom I've been looking through pant flips. Some of them seemed boring and not interesting at all. But then there was this one that stood out.
It had the harbour, where you tour around for an hour. Then you hop on the large boat. Where you get to sleep on, and it takes you all the way around beautiful
sites and views. And the stopping point is when it brings you back to the harbour.
To be honest, I thought it was perfect.
"Hm?" Nathan hummed as he fiddled with his tie.
"It's really beautiful, and it the inside looks amazing. Plus-"
"Come on, Hazel. Isn't our wedding not important enough?" He grumbled, which caused me to take a step back in disappointment.
"We haven't even finished planning it, plus we have to plan our honeymoon on top of that." He knitted his eyebrows at me, giving me a scowl.
"Oh. Yeah, you're right." I replied quietly, the frown pulling at my lips as I placed the pant flip down on the counter.
"Come on, don't be like that. Anyways, I'm going out of town this weekend." He replied, still facing the mirror as he tried to do his tie.
"What for?" I knitted my brows together, feeling defensive. But he only gazed over at me and shrugged.
"You know, the usual business trip." He replied plainly.
'Oh, really?' I thought with a scowl. But wiped it off with a wide smile.
I then walked up to him, undoing his tie. Helping him redo it, as he placed his hands on the side of him.
"Sounds interesting, seeing you don't work on weekends." I spoke up, lacing the tie under the other bit. Building a knot.
"Yeah, well you know how the boss is." He replied. But what hurt more is the lack of emotion in his voice, when he knew exactly what he was planning to do this weekend.
I then pulled the tie up tightly, finishing it off.
"Ouch! What the hell, Hazel!?" He grumbled in front of me, but I only smiled widely up at him.
"Maybe your boss doesn't even remember asking you to go out of town. So, why not just stay?" I suggested.
Nathan gave me a curious look, but swiped it off his face with a smirk.
"Don't worry, babe. I'm going to miss you too, but I'm the manager now. Means more work for me." He kissed my head again, before picking up his brief case and
leaving.
"Bye, honey! I'll be home for dinner tonight, okay!"
I only frowned, watching as the door slammed and him disappearing from my eye sight.
"Yeah, sure you will." I mumbled to myself.
I then turned to the kitchen, picking up the pant flip from the counter. Disappointment was all I felt as I walked to the trash can and threw it away.
Turning around, I was going to go to the fridge to get a snack. But out of nowhere nausea overcame me. Making me sprint upstairs to the nearest bathroom, to empty
out my guts.
But as I sat down beside the toilet, I couldn't help but stare off towards the mirror.
It was a beautiful mirror. It had different kind of shapes engraved into it on the sides.
But then my eyes wondered down towards the cabinet part, as my mind started to think.
'I should really clean out those cabinets. I'm pretty sure all my lady things are still in there.' I thought to myself.
Since this was the guest bathroom, plus Nathan and I already had our own bathroom in our room.
Bus as I opened it, pulling the box of things on the bench. I felt my heart sink, as realisation dawned on me suddenly.
"I'm late."
**************************
"So, how was your day?" I asked. Trying to offer some sort of conversation as we ate our dinner.
"It was fine." He grumbled, sounding irritated. Which only made me curious.
'Did he find out about me and Mr Williams?' I thought in a panic, but continued to eat my vegies. Trying not to seem guilty.
To be honest, I didn't know how he couldn't feel all the guilt. Was he immune or something?
I only nodded in reply, trying to offer a smile.
"So, is your boss still letting you go for the weekend?" I asked.
I mean, it would be convenient for me. I could be able to go to the hospital for a check up without raising any suspicion for Nathan to question.
"Yeah, I guess." He replied. "If the f*****g b***h even answers my calls." He grumbled the last bit. But I guess he realised what he said, cause he looked up at me with a pale
expression.
"Sorry, uh, I meant my boss. He was suppose to call me, so yeah, you know? He can be a b***h sometimes." He chuckled nervously.
I only felt a frown pull at my lips once again.
If only he realised I already figured out about his cheating, I wonder how he'd react then?
"Oh, of course. I know what you mean, my boss is the same." I smiled.
I guess he let out a sigh of relief from my response, because after he then offered to do the dishes while I went in the living room to relax.
I got up, and made my way to the couch. Turning the tv on. But then Nathan walked over, and for a split second I felt actually happy.
"So, what are we watching babe?" He asked with a smile.
'Finally, we can hang out together.' I thought happily.
But like I said, it only lasted for a split second.
Nathan's phone went off, taking away his full attention from me. As he jumped up and practically sprinted for it.
"Hey. Where have you been? I've been trying to call you all day." I heard him in the next room, trying to sound discreet.
But that s**t didn't work on me, not when I already knew the truth.
"Yeah, okay. I'll be on my way."
Nathan then walked into the living room, as I looked up at him with a questioning look.
"Sorry, one of my friends called. They need me to come over right now. I think they're going through a hard time right now, with their marriage and everything." Nathan
explained, as he came over and kissed my head.
"I'll be back as soon as I can, just start the movie without me. Bye babe!" He yelled from the front door, closing it behind him.
"Nice." I mumbled to myself, feeling so overwhelmed that tears started to fall from my eyes.
And once the tears started, I just couldn't stop them. It felt like the pain and hurt wouldn't stop.
I ended up falling asleep crying on that couch. As the sunrays sneaked past the curtains falling on my eyes. I then realised that Nathan didn't come home that night.
