CHAPTER 5 "Where have you been?" Nathan asked, placing a plate of food in front of me. "Just been with Damien, sorry I didn't call to tell you." I replied, picking at my food as guilt and fear started to crawl at me. "That's fine, as long as you were safe." He replied, pouring some juice in a glass cup. Placing it near my plate. "What's that smell?" Nathan asked, more to himself. As he scrunched up his nose only to land his eyes on me. "Sorry, we kind of got curried away. With the vodka bottle we bought." I explained, mumbling the last part. "How carried away?" Nathan asked, his voice deep and cold. As he knitted his brows together. "It wasn't that bad, I swear. Maybe a few shots and then I fell asleep on the couch." Nathan only looked at me intuitively, searching for any lie. That's when I felt anxiety grow in my stomach, causing me to feel nausea. He only closed the lid to the juice bottle, putting it back in the fridge. "You sure he's actually gay?" He asked, not looking at me. I only raised a brow, not understanding what he's getting at. "What do you mean by that?" I asked, hearing the irritation starting to show in my tone. "Nothing, just forget I said anything." He replied, looking at me as I picked my food. "All I'm saying, is that it's not like you to just get heavily drunk, and not return my phone calls." He continued. "But I guess it's nothing." He said as he kissed me on my temple before leaving the kitchen. "Where are you going?" I asked, starting to feel defensive. "You did call me from work, remember?" He smirked from the doorway. "By the way don't wait up for me, I'm going to be home late. And I'm no doubt going to have a few drinks with the guys after work." I only felt my shoulders slump. I know exactly why he was going to be late, and it wasn't because of work nor drinking with his friends. "Hey, don't look so down." Nathan smiled as he grabbed his leather case, coming up to me, giving another kiss. But this time on the cheek. 'He hasn't once kissed me properly today.' I thought to myself, feeling distraught. As a frown fell over my lips. "I'll be back later, bye babe!" He called out from the front door, before closing it with a bang. "Sure you will." I mumbled to myself, finally pushing away my plate of food. I stood up from the stool, deciding to go take a shower and a long nap. But not in our bed, especially since I don't know if he cleaned after yesterday or not. And I wasn't going to risk the chances either. But as I stood up, my phone started to ring. I picked it up from the counter, only to see and unknown number. Though my lack of care right now didn't stop me from swiping the answer button, and connecting my call. "Hello?" I asked, waiting for some sort of reply to get a hint of who this was. "An apology letter, seriously Hazel?" A deep voice spoke up, causing me to halt in my position. The deep voice only started to chuckle. As if amused from my letter, but I only felt nerves consuming me right now. But instead I mustered what I could and spoke into the phone. "Look, I don't know how you got my number. Or why you're calling me. But last night was a mistake, okay?" The man only chuckled. "I can see that, by the crappy hand written letter you left me." He replied, with a hint of amusement. "So, what? I take it you're the kind of guy who doesn't take rejection nicely then." I snapped, feeling irritated about how he could find this amusing. "Maybe, or maybe I just find you interesting. Hazel Mathews." He replied, but I only felt paralyzed right now. 'How they hell did he know my name?' I thought to myself anxiously. "So, you get to know my name, but I don't get to know yours?" I felt more angry right now. But more with myself. Why the hell did I do this to myself? I'm causing trouble for myself, I should've just ate ice-cream and binge watched on my sad movies. Not f**k some hot creep, who is now stalking me. "Don't tell me that you forgot my name, Hazel. That hurts, really, it does." He replied, but his amused tone didn't falter once. 'That asshole thinks this is funny?!' "If it did then why aren't you dead yet?" I snapped back, deciding to end the call. I had enough of this. I ended up switching my phone off, instead going to do what I planned earlier. Having a nice shower and a nap. It's what I need right now.
