CHAPTER 1: ACCIDENT THIRD PERSON POV “So, can I ask for your ideas regarding our topic for today? Let’s hear it first from the representative of Lopez Enterprises. May we have the attention of Ms. Celestine Lopez, please?” The MC announced to the microphone after the discussion of today’s agenda in the ongoing business conference here in London. However, Celestine is not really paying attention to the discussion since she was just forced by her father to attend the business conference as the representative of their company. She just yawned because the truth is she is already sleepy and all she wants to happen is the conference to end so she can lay on her bed and sleep. “Hey, sleepy head. They are calling for your attention but it seems that you are not paying attention.” “If I am not mistaken, you are Ms. Celestine Lopez that the MC is referring to, right?” Celestine was brought back to reality when she heard a deep voice from her seatmate who just spoke to her for the first time since the business conference had started. The man appeared to be so cold and snobbish that is why, Celestine is not really feeling him to be her seatmate today and she just feels unlucky to see his poker face with straight eyebrows all the time since it can really ruin her mood and basically her day as a whole. “Oh, sorry about that. What are you asking again?” Celestine immediately stood up and apologized to the MC. However, the other delegates just laughed at her and they started whispering and murmuring with one another. Her seatmate just hissed and shook his head because of her action. “I just want to ask for your ideas regarding our topic. Can you share your thoughts with us, Ms. Lopez?” The MC repeated his question to Celestine with a calm voice. Celestine just winces and scratches her head because she doesn’t know how to answer the question since she is not really paying attention earlier and she doesn’t really know about business matters in the first place. “I think the proposal is really great so I agree with it. That would be all, thank you,” Celestine simply answered and smiled awkwardly. However, the delegates just laughed at her even more. “What was that, Ms. Lopez? We are not even talking about proposals here. Are you even listening to the discussion?” “I think you really have no idea about this. No wonder that your company is literally near its downfall. Is that right?” her seatmate suddenly said with a mocking voice and everyone just started gasping and murmuring with one another. The man immediately catches the attention of Celestine since she is really getting sensitive when it comes to that topic about their company. She just looked at the man while her fist was clenching. Based on their seating arrangement, she found out that this arrogant man is none other than Adrian Armani, the CEO and owner of Armani's Corporation. One of the largest and successful companies worldwide and the CEO is literally a billionaire himself. “I think you should not come to me and attack me personally, mister. Whatever is going on with our company would be only our business.” “So, with all due respect, I am requesting you to mind your own business too. Is that fine?” Celestine just answered with a serious face and gritted teeth. The truth is her seatmate is really getting into her nerves and she is starting to hate this arrogant man’s face because it is making her blood boil. "Oh, is that so? Well, I apologize if it appears personally for you. However, as a business representative, you should not be so sensitive about certain things.” “How can you assure that our money will not go into waste if ever we invest in your SMALL company," Adrian simply responded emphasizing the word SMALL. He was obviously mocking the company of Celestine's father that is why, she just looked at him with sharp eyes. "Yes, we may be a small company but I assure you that we will rise again until we reach the top. Please bear that in your mind, Mr. Armani," Celestine just answered with a firm voice as she looked at Adrian intently like she is memorizing every detail of this arrogant man's face. “Woah, I really admire your bravery, Ms. Lopez. I hope to see you on top, then?” Adrian simply answered and smirked. Celestine just rolled her eyes at him secretly and they just went back to their seats. After attending the business conference, Celestine and Adrian separately went to their respective hotels. However, they did not expect that they will be staying in the same hotel and above all, their rooms are just beside one another. When they got their key cards in the hotel front desk, the agent made a mistake and she accidentally exchanged the key cards of Celestine and Adrian. Adrian is the first one who arrived at his hotel room 212. However, when he is inserting the key card, the door is not opening. He frowned and checked the key card then he saw that it was for room 213 which is just beside his hotel room. He shook his head and went in front of room 213. He noticed that the hotel guest who will stay at room 213 is not yet here so he just decided to wait for the person. However, he is born to be a short tempered person and he doesn’t know how to wait. That is why his patience is really tested. “Hey, what are you doing here in my hotel room, Mr. Armani? Don’t tell me… Are you stalking me?” Adrian just looked at the woman who appeared out of nowhere from head to toe and he just raised his eyebrows because of what she said. “Why would I do that? Please don’t be so full of yourself, Ms. Lopez,” he simply answered with a bored tone. Celestine just hissed at him and she tried to insert her own key card however, what happened to Adrian earlier also happened to her. She looks so confused and she faces Adrian with an arc eyebrow while her hands are on her waist. “What did you do to my room? Are you the reason why I can’t open it right now?” Celestine is accusing Adrian. However, Adrian just shows the key card number 213 in her face while looking at her with a raised eyebrow. “I think the agent exchanged our key card number. You can check the one in your hand so that you will stop accusing me with something that I will never do,” Adrian just answered with a firm and serious voice. Celestine did what he said and when she checked the key card number that she has, it seemed that Adrian was really telling her the truth. “Let me just get my key card and here is yours. Hope to not see you again, Ms. Lopez.” Adrian just took his right key card number and left Celestine hanging in front of her room. He opened his own hotel room using the right key card then finally it opened so he immediately went inside and went to his room. When Adrian sat down in his bed, his cellphone suddenly rang and it was his assistant who is calling him right now. “Hello, sir. Sorry for bothering you but I have bad news about Ms. Erica,” his assistant told him on the other line. “What do you mean, Felix? What happened to my wife?” he simply asked with a furrowed forehead. “Please don’t be shocked, sir. But Ms. Erica got into a car accident when she was on her way to your rest house. Now she went missing and the authorities still can’t find her body.” It was like Adrian’s world turned upside down because of the bad news that he received about his wife. “What? How did that happen? Please book me a flight now. I need to go back there as soon as possible,” Adrian replied with a worried tone. He is already sweating cold even though his hotel room is fully air conditioned. “I already checked it earlier, sir. However, there is no available flight at this moment. You need to wait until morning there.” “But, please rest assured that the authorities will do their best to find your wife,” Felix just answered with assurance. “F*ck!” Adrian just threw her cellphone on the wall and it broke into pieces. He covered his face using both his hands and his hands as well as his knees are already trembling because he doesn't know if he can still see his wife alive or she might be dead already when he comes back to New York.
