Amber POV
As I walk through the forest, I notice my body starting to feel really weird. My hands and feet are tingling, my heart is racing, and I feel a rush of adrenaline as if I’d just won a race. I figure that previous situation with Everett is just making me feel anxious, and I shrug it off.
The path in the woods is dark, and right now I wish I had my wolf so I could take advantage of the night vision and other abilities that comes with it. Once I have my wolf, I don’t need to be afraid of my wicked aunt and her gremlin children anymore, because I’ll have the abilities I need to defend myself. I will refuse being the packhouse servant and I’ll feel ashamed no longer!
A familier scent washes over me, and it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever smelled! I remember it from when we arrived at the party, but this time it’s much stronger, I start to look around to find the source of the scent, when suddenly something hits me in the back of the legs and I fall over hard into the dirt.
I look up from the ground, and standing over me is no other than Emma and Jesse, hiding baseball bats over their shoulders and giving me smug looks.
“What the hell!” I tell them. “What on earth is wrong with you guys?!”
“The real question is, what is wrong with YOU cuz?” Emma retorts. “You’re so weak and unworthy of being in our presence, I don’t know how our father ever let you into the packhouse!
She hits me again, this time a direct shot to my ribs, and I wimper in pain. I curl my body into a ball, and I just wish for it all to end.
“Honestly little cuz, I’m not a huge fan of violence,” Jesse huffs. He kicks my back hard with his boots. I feel my skin instantly bruising, and scream in agony.
“But, we need you out of the pack, and there’s only one way out!” Jesse yells.
Both of them begin to pound me with the baseball bats, over and over. I have never felt so much pain in my entire life. I can feel my ribs break and my whole body is bruised. My vision starts to fade, but right before I pass out I hear a loud growl, and Emma and Jesse drop their bags and run away. My eyes close, and I am swept into the sweet unconscious.
