Days have passed and Jax has been messaging me every day, but I have yet to respond. One day I get a knock on my door. I open it to find Jax. Me: Why are you here? Jax: You've been ignoring me? Why?! Me: Been busy. Jax: Doing what?! Playing f*****g video games?! Me: You're not my boyfriend! Jax: What is your problem? I thought things were good between us. Me: It was a fling. That's it. Jax: Seriously?! That's all I was to you?! A fling?! I see his hand balled into fist on his side. I feel bad but the fact he can't think of why I don't want to talk to him makes me even more mad. I look away not wanting to make eye contact anymore. Me: Can you leave now? Jax: No! Lyle: She said leave. I look up to see my brothers behind him. Nate is leaning on the doorframe. Lyle places his hand on his shoulder and pulls him back placing himself in front of me. Lyle: She doesn't date your kind. Jax: My kind?! What's my ra-- Nate: Our little sister isn't racist. What my brother means by your kind is that she doesn't date bikers. Jax: What is it about bikers? She's one at heart. Me: Your f*****g assholes! Deceptive, manipulative, liars! Nate: Angel! That's enough! Me: It's true! Nate: You can't judge everyone based off of him! Enough with your childish s**t! I open my mouth, but nothing comes out. Nate has never talked to me like that before. Lyle Pushes Jax out the door and closes it. I walk away and go sulk on the couch. Lyle pulls me into a hug. Nate is still out with Jax. After a few minutes he comes back inside. As soon as he walks in, I jump out. Me: How dare you talk to me like that?! Nate: Shut up and sit down! I sit back down. He sits on the coffee table in front of me. He leans forward. Nate: I just had a chat with him now talk. Why are you ghosting him? Me: He's a jerk! Lyle: Wait is that the guy that you and Kylie got into about? I feel bad for arguing with Kylie over this guy. I nod my head. Lyle: Isn't that--. Nate: Jackson Demarco. Second best rider in the state. Me: Even more reason not to date him. Nate: He said you two went on a few dates. Said things were good. So, what happened? I cross my arms and look away. I feel Lyle's eyes on me. Nate flicks my forehead. I wince in pain and rub my forehead. Nate: Speak! Me: Fine we went on two dates! Happy?! Nate: Keep going. Me: On our second date we vibed great. Talking about bikes, playful banter, you just getting to know each other better. He ruined it by saying f**k getting to know each other, he just wanted to f**k. So, I f****d him and the rest is history. Lyle: Lalalalalalalala. Nate: Shut up i***t. Angel, he's a guy. We mess up. It's in our nature. Me: But-- Nate: But nothing. Get out your f*****g feeling and put yourself out there again. He doesn't seem like a bad guy. Me: No. Lyle: For f**k's sake. Do something! You make me depressed. You have talent girl. Any guy would be lucky to have the slightest chance with you. Nate: Have you thought about riding again? Me: Yes. Lyle: And? Me: No! I'm honestly lying though. I'm dying to get back on a bike. I start pouting. Lyle: Keep thinking about it. You'll come around. Nate: As for Jax, give him a chance. Me: No! Lyle pulls out his phone. Nate stares me down. I'm not budging. Lyle: Isn't this Jax with that Brazilian model? My eyes couldn't get to his phone quick enough. When I look it's just his home screen. He starts laughing. Lyle: See? Your clearly interested. Nate: Call him. Me: No. He snatches my phone from me and walks off to the kitchen. He makes a call. He's calling Jax. I try to get up but Lyle holds me down. Lyle: Stop Angel. Nate walks back over and throws my phone at me. I quickly catch it and look at the call log. Its empty. Nate: We're going out tonight. I'll be here at 7pm to pick you up. Me: Whatever. I roll my eyes. They both stand up and leave. Usually, I get a hug or kiss on the forehead, but this was a tense visit. 7pm rolls around and Nate arrives not a minute sooner. He walks in and flops on the couch. Nate: Ready? Me: Yes. Nate: You're not wearing that. Me: What's wrong with what I'm wearing? Nate: You're not a f*****g tomboy. Change. Me: No. He stands up and gets in my face. His demeanor lately is different than how he's always been with me. Nate: Change! Me: UGH!!!!! I storm upstairs. I look in the mirror. I was wearing a pair of jeans and a slightly baggy shirt. I change into a tighter pair of black jeans and crop top. I head back downstairs. Me: Better? Nate: Much better. Let's go. We head outside and get in his car. We drive over to a bar we use to frequented when I use to race. We walk in and Nate spots Lyle. With Lyle is Jax. Me: Why is he here? Nate: I invited him. Me: Why? Nate: He deserves a chance, Angel. Give him a real one. He pushes me towards the table. He pushes me into booth blocking me in. Jax looks at me. I avoid eye contact. Jax: Hey. Me: Hey. Jax: You look great. Me: Thanks. Nate: Lyle, let's go grab some drinks from the bar. They both stand up and leave the booth. I try to leave when Jax grabs my arm. Jax: Wait! Me: What? Jax: I don't know what I did to make you not want to talk to me but I'm sorry. Me: It's nothing. I try to leave again but he grabs my arm again. I look at him and he has a pleading look on his face. Jax: Angel talk to me. Please. Me: Nothing to talk about. Jax: Yes, there is. Look, I like you. Me: Good for you. I shrug him off. I slide out of the booth and stand up. He calls out to me. Jax: Just answer me this. Why won't you date a biker? Me: I dated a biker before and he destroyed me. Jax: How? I don't want to talk about it. But Nate is right. I've kept it bottled in for so long and no one know but them. I turn around and hold my hand out to Jax. Me: I'll show you how. He takes my hand and we leave the bar. I decide to reveal my past to him.
