Chapter 1: The Cat I Raised Turned Into a Human?"
As the city lights up, people hurriedly make their way home after a long, exhausting day battling work. The vast sky has been swallowed by darkness, giving a sense of comfort mixed with a touch of loneliness. The blinking lights of the signs on both sides of the street are quite charming. Archie adjusted his glasses, sighed, and pushed open the door to the supermarket. Tonight, he only intended to grab a quick bite since he was too tired from the day.
Archie’s steps on the road gradually became heavy and slow. He sighed. Life was so tiresome and monotonous. He was fed up with it. Every day was the same: waking up early, preparing for work, then coming home in the evening to eat, sleep, and start over the next day. Occasionally, he would go out with friends, only to return home again. Everything seemed to be in a repetitive cycle. Was life always this dull, or was it because he hadn't found any joy for himself? He did have interests, but they just led him back to the same old routine.
During a weekend gathering, Archie's friends suggested he should find his other half since he was 29 and needed to spend some time on himself. Archie smiled slightly, thinking maybe his dull and lonely life was due to a lack of love. Indeed, perhaps it was time he thought about it a bit more. Seeing other people hand in hand... it felt so warm.
Archie had experienced many things and a range of emotions. He had once wished to hold someone because his heart had been hurt so much. Even a comforting hug from a stranger would have been nice, but who would do that? Who would hug him when they didn’t even notice him? Archie began to learn how to be strong, often suppressing his desire for warmth and becoming a solitary figure who overcame every difficulty without shedding a tear. But in the end, he was just a person—a warrior with a heart and feelings, not a robot.
Archie started to think about what his friends had mentioned. He had always been focused on his career and had pushed thoughts of love aside, to the point where he had completely forgotten about it. He had felt emotions before but always kept them hidden because his heart had grown cold and realized that those feelings were not true love.
The lonely figure gradually faded behind the lights, and his steps quickened, only to suddenly stop. He silently listened to the sound of a cat meowing somewhere. He looked around and saw a small, shivering yellow-striped cat sitting at the base of a streetlight. It looked very weak, its eyes fixed on him as if pleading for help.
Archie quickly turned into a nearby store and bought a small sausage for the cat. The cat was very beautiful despite being dirty, and it couldn’t hide its cuteness. Archie petted the cat and said:
“Little cat, where is your home? Why are you so dirty? Remember to go home after you eat. I’m leaving now. Goodbye.”
Just as he thought everything would end there, the cat followed him back. Archie figured it might be lost, so he would let it stay at his place for now and look for its owner the next day. The cat eagerly ran to his side with Archie’s permission.
“Phew! For now, I'll stay with this guy. Better take care of my stomach first. This curiosity of mine, I’m really foolish!” The cat thought to itself, blaming itself.
This cat, Leon, was a celestial being in training to become human. It had fallen to the mortal realm because it was too eager to explore and got distracted while admiring the scenery through a lotus pond, falling down by accident. Here, it couldn't use its magic, couldn't speak human language, and couldn't call for help or return to the celestial realm.
First, Archie gave the cat a bath, expecting it to be scared, but it actually enjoyed it. He removed the green collar and discovered the cat’s name was “Leon.” It was amusing that such a small cat had a grand name; its owner must have wished it to be as mighty as a lord.
Archie prepared some food for Leon and had dinner with him. Somehow, Archie felt happy; the presence of the cat seemed to lessen his sense of loneliness.
“Hmm. Let me introduce myself. I’m Archie. I’ll help you find your owner, but since I’m going to work tomorrow, I need you to stay at home and guard the place.”
The cat paid no attention to him; for Leon, being cared for like this was already great.
“Sure. No problem. As long as you feed me well,” the cat responded.
“Oh... Did you get lost while looking for a mate?” Archie asked curiously, as cats often wander off while seeking partners. Since Leon was a male cat wandering around, it must have been looking for a mate.
“Meow meow!!” – “Oh, looking for a mate? I can’t speak human language, so it’s tough. I fell down here because I was distracted by the scenery. Sigh.” The cat sat there helplessly.
“Leon! Go to bed now. I’ll finish up my work and sleep after,” Archie said, working on an advertising design. He saw Leon rubbing against his arm.
“Meow!” – “I’m scared to sleep alone, and it’s dark around. Don’t you have a night light?”
Leon ignored Archie’s comments and lay down next to him. After finishing his work, Archie picked up Leon and took him to bed. Leon snuggled deeper into Archie’s embrace as he felt the warmth.
The next morning, Leon woke up early but wasn’t sure what to do, so he tried to sleep a bit more. But he couldn’t sleep and turned to look at Archie’s face closely.
“I didn’t notice before, but this person is really beautiful! I really want to bite those lips, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Oh, there’s a cute mole under his lip.”
Archie was very handsome, with a charming appearance that made people like him at first sight. His big, round eyes, long and curved eyelashes, fair skin, pink lips, and a small, cute mole below his lip, along with his warm voice and incredibly sweet smile, made him look like a star. Many people thought he should be an actor, and those who found out he wasn’t felt it was a waste.
“Hmm... Leon, are you awake? I’m so sleepy... I’ll go back to sleep,” Archie mumbled.
“Oh, Archie, you’re so adorable! I’ve seen countless deities, but none as beautiful as you. Even though you’re just a human without any divine aura, I find you incredibly beautiful,” Leon thought, his little heart beating fast.
Leon had seen many deities in the celestial realm, all very beautiful. He admired them but had never felt his heart race like this before. Now it raced for a mortal like Archie. Although Leon was older than Archie, he called him “brother” because he wanted to be close to him.
Leon knew Archie had to wake up for work, so he tugged at Archie’s shirt and, when that didn’t work, bit his hand. That’s how Archie finally got out of bed.
“Leon, will you behave at home today? I bought some fish,” Archie said.
When Leon heard Archie was back, he quickly jumped off the sofa and wrapped around his legs. After dinner, Archie and Leon watched a movie together. He took Leon outside to play and to look for its owner. He also sent out notices about the lost cat, but no one had contacted him yet.
Time flew by quickly, and Leon grew older and fatter. Today, Archie had plans with his friends and took Leon along to keep him company and prevent him from feeling lonely.
Everyone brought up Archie’s love life again. Paul even introduced him to a few girls, but he wasn’t very interested, although he had thought about finding a partner. Archie found it strange that ever since he brought Leon home, he had stopped thinking about it.
“Archie, can you put this cat aside and focus on yourself? I’m introducing you to these girls,” Paul said, showing Archie pictures of some women he knew. But Leon, understanding what was happening, scratched at Paul’s phone screen and even bit Paul’s hand, glaring as if threatening him.
Riley laughed loudly, “Hahaha, this cat is so smart! Looks like it will be hard for you to find a girlfriend now!”
Paul glared at Leon, “Archie, look at your cat. How can it be so aggressive!”
Paul scolded the cat in Archie’s arms, explaining, “Oh, your little one isn’t letting you find a partner now. You need a girlfriend to keep you company. When you’re married and have kids, your cat will have someone to play with and won’t be lonely.”
“Meow meow!!!” – “Not letting Archie have a girlfriend or a family? Once I become human, I’ll make sure he is happy and not lonely anymore.” Leon thought to himself, not fully understanding why he felt this way. Perhaps it was love? Leon realized he might be in love with Archie. It wasn’t just his looks but his kindness, warmth, and love that had moved Leon and made him place Archie in his heart.
Time flew by, and three years had passed. Leon was now a thousand years old, but compared to ordinary cats, he was only six. On anniversaries, Archie would celebrate Leon’s birthday and adulthood, even though he didn’t know Leon’s actual age.
“Leon, happy birthday! Let’s make a wish!” Archie said cheerfully.
In the dark space illuminated only by candles, Leon wasn’t scared at all. He looked at Archie, who was smiling beside him, and at the warm, flickering candles. Leon felt incredibly happy, more than ever
Then he closed his eyes and made a wish to quickly become human, so he could be by Archie’s side to protect, care for, and love him as Archie had done for him, to cherish and guard him forever until he completely disappeared from this world.
"Leon, have you made your wish? Let me blow out the candles for you," Archie said as he prepared to blow out the candles. Suddenly, there was a bright flash of golden light, accompanied by a powerful force that erupted like a firecracker exploding right next to him, throwing him far away. A loud noise filled the house. Terrified, Archie scrambled to the corner of the table, trying to hide, and he struggled to open his eyes to look at the light, but it was too bright and blinding. After a while, he suddenly smelled a very fragrant flower scent, and he felt something light touch his hand.
When Archie slowly opened his eyes, he saw that the room was filled with falling cherry blossoms, appearing out of nowhere, like a transparent curtain descending from the ceiling, where two worlds intersected. Before he could fully process what was happening, he saw a tall, slender young man standing in front of him, with long hair and dressed in a shimmering golden outfit.
