Chapter2[Divorce]

1192 Words
Riley realized that Lola was slow to move away from Henry, instead, her husband pushed her and quickly ran to meet Riley by the door. " Riley, you're home early. I didn't know you would be coming by this time. " He said, his body not calm at all. He reached for her hands and held hand tight. " You must be shocked, right? I understand. Honestly, it's not what you think at all. I assure you!" Riley was so shocked but Lola's behavior did not even help things at all! Her friend stood up and carried a proud expression on her face. She was supposed to be the one explaining now. At least, lying that it had all been a mistake. "...you understand, huh?" Henry was still saying something Riley couldn't even understand. " Riley, say something. Say anything. Hmm?" "It's okay, Henry. She's not stupid. " Lola said. "She knows now, so why continue to hide it?" Riley scoffed in disbelief. She felt embarrassed she had even been crying. She was hurt, that was why! And now, this lady is not even emotional at all? " Lola, you of all people. How dare you! " Riley demanded. "How dare I? How dare I chase after true happiness? Your husband--my Henry, he is so good to me. Why should I let only you have him? " Riley was boiling on the inside, ready to use any moment. " Do you not even have any shame at all! How can you talk like that in my presence! How dare you? " Riley took three giant steps forward and stormed over to Lola to give her a loud and painful slap on the cheeks. Lola groaned out in pain. She was about to hit Riley back when the taller woman slapped her again and she somersaulted backwards. Henry jumped forward and lifted Riley away from Lola before she hurt her more. " Hey, I said something, not kill someone! What is wrong with you? Can't you be decent enough to let us talk about this?" Henry scolded. "Decent enough?" Riley pushed herself free from his grip, "how dare you, Henry!" With the anger coursing through her veins, she raised her hand to slap Henry, but he held her hand tight. "Let go of me!" Riley stepped back until she was outside. What was wrong with her? She could see Lola getting up to her feet now. Her mother had always told her never to fight if she ever found herself in a situation like right now, and yet, here she was acting like a lunatic. What if Lola searched for a weapon and hit her with it, killing her? She needed to compose herself. Despite her shaky breath and wobbly legs, she managed to rush out of the room. Until her anger, she subsidized at least. On her way out, she dialed her brother's number, Toby, her best friend in the whole wide world. Even though Toby was three years younger than her, he seemed to mature most of the time. He asked that they meet at a small restaurant just close to her house, and before she knew it, he had made his way over to her. " I'm so grateful you're in town at this moment. I didn't know what to do, who to call. " She lamented to him. " It's okay, you shouldn't be crying over them. They're not worth your tears. " Toby said, but in more reality, he was glancing everywhere at the way people stared at him. His sister had always cried loudly, and since Toby was taller and well-packed, no one would know Riley was the older sister, so it was as if he was her boyfriend who had broken her heart. People pointed fingers at him and frowned. " Hey, Riley. Stop crying, please. People are looking at us. " He cautioned again, then gave a fake smile to the people staring. " It's nothing. We're good." He said, but they still gave him the chilly stares. After a while, Riley mustered up the courage to head back to her house with Toby with her. She had called Henry and Lola and, surprisingly, they were still at home. " What is this? A bodyguard?" Henry said. " Whatever you think, I don't care. You're right, we should talk like the adults that we are,"Riley said. They were seated in the living room with Lola sitting right next to Henry and Riley with her brother. "I love Henry. And I'm not going to leave him. " Lola was the first to speak, with Henry pinching her not to. Riley frowned at their disgusting behavior. Henry sat forward. " Actually, I blame you for this, Riley. You're just never around for me. Always working all the damn time. A man has his needs too, you know? " Toby bared his teeth. " She's always busy working for your sorry ass! " "Hey, talk to me nicely." Henry scolded. " I'm older than your sister! Just because you're bigger and well fit with those muscles doesn't make-- " "--shut the f**k up, Henry." Riley cut him off with a cold shot stare. " This isn't really about you. You're just a fool who can't choose the right woman for himself. As a spoiled brat who sucks up to his mother, I can't blame you at all. " Riley said, though deep down it still hurt as hell! "So why have you come back then?" Lola said. "As for you, I think I can manage to spare you my leftover," Riley said. " I always thought you were my best friend. How could you? " Lola said nothing but stared at the ground. " Well, I've come back because I can never forgive this. Even if, eventually, I forgive, I can never forget. So I want a divorce. " She said. How could she ask for a divorce when, just that morning, she was rushing home to feed her husband some food from the mini-party at work. She was going to plan how to split her salary and give this man. But now, she was calling for divorce? "Well, as expected," Lola said. She turned to find Henry biting his fingernails like he did whenever he was sad or worried. She and Riley used to tease him about that habit. A frown worked its way over to her face. Wasn't that what he always wanted? Why was he scared when Riley mentioned divorce?? "Riley, I think that you're being too forward." Henry said, avoiding looking at Lola. "Don't you think we should calm down and--" "--and what?" Lola said immediately. "It's for the best, and you know it, Henry. That's all then, right Riley? You should leave," Lola said. She got up in anger and was headed upstairs to Riley's room when Riley pulled her by the hair back to their midst. "You lack manners as always, Lolita," Riley said." Lastly, this is my house, so you both, get the hell out right now! " Riley commanded. "Leave, or else, my brother here will throw your asses out."
