Michael’s claims of memory loss are true, albeit incorrect. The memory of that morning was definitely all there since I was able to access it for your reading pleasure. However, it was very much locked out of Michael’s reach. It was connected only by one thread, and an emotional one at that.
That connection was the specific despair that Michael felt that day. Which, by all accounts and purposes, he would never experience again.
Well, maybe in his last moments.
Either way, I have personally never experienced anything like it with anyone else’s memories.
I will not try to defend his actions -- his temporary madness -- any more than he did. I hope the story, his story, speaks for itself. It is up to each of us to make up our minds about things, and people, and how we feel about them.
