A View On The Past

Ursula's POV

"Mother can I go to the forest?"- I said to my mother with a pleading look

"Hmmm? Who's with you my darling?"- My mother look at me with a smile

"No one, Unita and father won't come with me because they are practicing with her spell"- I said sadly and looked down

Unita is my father's favorite child. Luckily, our mother don't have any favorite between the two of us and she loves us equally

"I will come with you then"- She said and that made my heart leap with joy

After we prepared everything that we will bring for our journey, mother and I made our way to the forest. While we were on our way, people bowed down to my mother and she smiled and greet them without any superiority. My mother is humble and that's why people love her so much.

When we arrive at the center of the forest, we lay our picnic blanket to the ground and sat. Mother get our foods from the basket and we ate.

"You know what mother? I'm lucky that I have you"- I said out of nowhere

"Really sweetheart? Thank you"- She said and kissed the top of my head

"Without you, I will be worthless. Father treat me like a failure. He always see the mistakes that I made, while she always praise Unita"- I said with my heart slowly shattered into pieces

"Awe it's not true sweetheart. Maybe your father just wants to make you better that's why he's pointing out your mistakes"- She said gently

"Nah, mother it's so obvious. I'm just lucky to have you. I love you"- I said and hug her tightly

"I love you more"- Mother said and hugged me back

Our moment was interupted when the birds suddenly flew away and the animals were running with fear visible in their faces

"What's happening?"-Mother asked an animal

"There's a big black scary bird appeared out of nowhere your highness"- the animal respond and run away again

Mom and I started to run when I remember that we forgot to bring mother's favorite basket. I ran back to where we were sitting and was about to get the basket when a big black flying animal appeared in front of me and was about to grab me when I flew to the tree. I looked back and my eyes widen when I saw my mother being taken away by the creature

"MOTHEEERRRRR!!"

I shouted at the top of my lungs and tried to fly and reach for my mother but the creature flapped his wings and it flew me against a tree and everything went black

I slowly open my eyes, I'm feeling dizzy. I looked around and noticed that I'm inside my room.

Was it a dream?

I got up and was about to leave my room but father came and slap me

"HOW DARE YOU KILL YOUR MOTHER?!"- He shouted at me and his eyes were bloodshot

"Father it's not me! It's a big black flying creature with----"- I was not able to finish my sentence when he slap me again

"IF IT'S NOT BECAUSE OF YOU YOUR MOTHER WON'T GO INTO THAT FOREST AND SHE WONT DIE! YOU MURDERER!"- He shouted again

"I'm sorry father"- I said while sobbing

"FROM NOW ON! I WON'T TREAT YOU AS MY DAUGHTER!"-His words were like daggers, it hurts

"Did you even treat me as a daughter? Even once?"- I asked him with pain visible in my tone and my face

He was about to say something when I closed the door and locked it. I ran to my bed and cried my heart out. Ever since Unita and I were little, he always treat me as a failure and a mistake.

It's not my fault that my power is darkness

It's not my fault that mother died

If only I can change everything, I would

"Hi there princess"

I immediately turn around and saw a black cat inside my room

"Who are you? And how did you get in here?"-I asked the cat

"I'm Oscar. And it doesn't matter how did I get inside your room. I'm here to offer you a deal"- Oscar walked towards my direction

"What deal?"- I asked him

"I will make you the most powerful animal in Omphalos and everyone will bow to you"- Oscar said

"And in return?"-I asked

"Your father's throne"- Oscar replied and grinned

"No way I'm gonna give my father's throne to you! GET OUT!"- I strongly said

Oscar, still grinning, disappeared in an instant. I stayed in my room, even though I got hungry, because I don't want to feel sad again after what happened. For sure father will just make me feel unwanted over and over again.

The next day, I got out and went to the dining room. As I made my way to the dinning room, servants and guards were talking about me. They were telling that I murdered my mother. I don't want to start a fight, so I just let them think what they want. If only they knew.

When I arrived at the dinning room, Unita is already sitting on her chair, she smiled when she saw me. I was about to smile back at her when our father came

"You don't have any right to eat after what you've done to my wife"- he said with full of disgust

I ran away and locked myself up in my room again. When will he ever stop? I'm still his child, who needs love and affection from a parent. If only mother is here. I cried my heart out and fell asleep.

I woke up because someone is knocking at my door. I opened it and saw Unita with a basket of fruits. She smiled as soon as she saw me

"For you, I know you're hungry"- Unita said sweetly

"Come in"- I said as I opened my door wider and gestured her to get inside

She put the basket on my table and sat on my bed. I went to my table and ate some fruits.

"What happened Ursula?"-Unita asked pertaining to the incident

I turned around and looked at her in the eyes

"After you refused to go with me in the forest, mother volunteered to come with me. We were talking when the chaos happened"- I said with teary eyes

"Chaos?"- she said, all attention on me

"Yes. Birds were flying away from the forest and the animals were running too. Mother asked someone and it said that there is a big black scary creature appeared out of nowhere"-I narrate the incident

"Mother and I started running, but I remember that we forgot to bring the favorite basket of mom so I ran back to our spot. But when I was about to grab the basket, the scary creature appeared and was about to get me when mother pushed my away and sacrificed herself"-I said while crying

Unita walked closer and hugged me tight. I feel safe in her embrace. I hugged her back

"Shhhh. Don't cry sister. Mother won't be happy seeing you like this. What she done was her choice because she love you "- She said that made me cry even more

The door opened and we saw our father with the guards. My eyes widen with shock. What is he planning to do?

"Guards! Arrest the murderer!"- My father commanded the guards that made me shiver in fear

"Father! What are you doing? She's your daughter and my sister! It's not her fault why mother is gone!"- Unita tried to defend me as she hid me behind her back

"No! After what she have done, she is no longer part of our family."- Father said with so much hatred in his eyes

With no choice, I ran towards my window.

"Goodbye Unita, Goodbye father"- I said and jumped off the window and fly away

After hours of flying, I got tired and rest under a tree. I cried my heart out, didn't expect that my father would think of me like that. If only my mother was still alive.

"Hi princess"

I looked up and saw Oscar

"What are you doing here?"- I asked and wiped my tears away

"I should be the one asking that question princess"- He said

"I don't want to talk about it"- I said and looked away

"Perhaps you want to agree with the deal that I offered you yesterday?"- He said grinning

"Deal"- I said
